Clash of Clans: the Trader's shop at 3,090 medals — which epics to buy before it closes on September 2
In brief
Supercell is offering six epic equipments at 3,090 medals each in the trader's shop, with a total budget of about 7,455 medals: you can only buy two. The shop remains open until September 2, two days after the event ends on August 31, and any unused balance disappears permanently.
Supercell published the complete catalogue of the trader's shop for the incredible medals event on August 12, prices included. The gist fits in one line: six epic equipment pieces, all priced at 3,090 quest medals, limited to one copy each. No discount, no sliding scale: the only trade-off left to you is the choice itself.
Second piece of information, the one most chiefs are going to miss: the shop doesn't close at the same time as the event. The event ends on Monday, August 31 at 8 a.m. UTC, but the trader tab and the event building remain open until Wednesday, September 2 at 8 a.m. UTC, i.e. 10 a.m. in Paris: two full days of catch-up.
Third point, the most frustrating one: the budget. The reward track tiers, tallied by community databases, total roughly 7,455 medals — an order of magnitude, not a figure published by Supercell. At that level, two epics go through. The third one doesn't.
The shop outlives the event by two days: the deadline is Wednesday, September 2 at 8 a.m. UTC
The official post from August 12 states it right below the dates: "The Event Tab in the Trader and the Event Building will remain available until September 2nd at 8am (UTC), so make sure to use all your Medals!"
In practical terms, Tuesday, September 1 is a full day of pure spending: not a single card token left to pick up, not a single medal left to earn, but a balance still fully usable. The post makes no mention of any conversion of unspent medals, nor any carry-over to another event: an unused balance is a lost balance.
Six epics at the same price, but only one is presented as brand-new equipment
The shop table labels the equipment pieces by the initials of the hero carrying them. Here is the correspondence, spelling out the official table's abbreviations with the labels from the French client:
| Equipment | Hero | Price | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenge Deck | Dragon Duke | 3,090 | 1 |
| Electro Boots (RC) | Royal Champion | 3,090 | 1 |
| Magic Mirror (AQ) | Archer Queen | 3,090 | 1 |
| Dark Crown (RP) | Royal Prince... [Gargoyle] | 3,090 | 1 |
| Heroic Torch (GW) | Grand Warden | 3,090 | 1 |
| Spiky Ball (BK) | Barbarian King | 3,090 | 1 |
Only one of the six is announced as new: the Revenge Deck, "the Dragon Duke's new trick" according to Supercell. The other five are not presented as new by the publisher — in all likelihood shop returns, whose behaviour you already know. The deck, on the other hand, is bought on trust.
Two restrictions: the event is accessible from Town Hall 6, but the Revenge Deck is reserved for Town Hall 15 and above. Below that, the trade-off only involves five equipment pieces. The Super Card Spinner decoration also occupies a line at 3,090 medals, limit 1: a cosmetic at the exact price of an epic.
Roughly 7,455 attainable medals: the count stops at two epics
The figure circulating doesn't come from Supercell, which has never published the total distributed via the reward track, but from an addition made from the tiers recorded by community databases: 500, 450, 1,050, 550, 500, 550, 500, 75, 1,000, 90, 600, 70, 800, 120 and 600 medals, totalling 7,455.
Take this number for what it is: a rough estimate, not an official figure. The split between the free track and the Event Pass isn't clear in these records: your actual total will depend on whether or not you purchase the Pass.
| Target purchase | Cost | Balance |
|---|---|---|
| One Epic Equipment | 3,090 | 4,365 remaining |
| Two Epic Equipment | 6,180 | 1,275 remaining |
| Three Epic Equipment | 9,270 | 1,815 short |
Two epics, then. Might as well decide right now which of the six actually matter for your attack setup: the purchase limit of 1 makes any mistake permanent.
What 3,090 medals buy if you give up on an equipment
Giving up on an epic isn't absurd: the shop also sells consumables that unlock progress when you're stuck. Here are the other lines in the catalog, with their purchase caps:
| Item | Price | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Elixir Rune / Gold Rune | 2,100 | 2 each |
| Book of Building | 1,906 | 3 |
| Book of Fighting | 1,906 | 2 |
| Book of Heroes | 1,030 | 3 |
| Obstacle Shovel | 1,030 | 4 |
| Builder Potion | 587 | 7 |
| Home decorations (roof / decor) | 515 | 1 per entry, 4 entries |
| Wall Ring 5x | 360 | 15 |
| Star Ore | 324 | 8 |
| Shiny Ore | 324 | 40 |
| Power Potion | 309 | 6 |
| Glowy Ore | 278 | 10 |
| Research Potion / Pet Potion | 247 | 6 each |
| Clock Tower Potion | 155 | 6 |
| Resource Potion | 115 | 6 |
| 2,000 Dark Elixir | 31 | 20 |
| 150,000 Gold / 150,000 Elixir | 15 | 20 each |
Four useful takeaways from this table:
- 3 Books of Heroes cost exactly 3,090 medals, the same price as an Epic Equipment. If your bottleneck is hero levels rather than hero equipment, the trade works out to the exact medal.
- The roughly 1,275 medals left over from two epics don't open many doors: a Book of Heroes, three Star Ores, or two home decorations at 515, but not a rune at 2,100.
- Raw resources remain the best use of small change: 20 purchases at 15 medals get you 300 medals for 3,000,000 Gold, best saved for Tuesday, September 1st, when the balance expires.
- Be careful with Shiny Ore: 40 purchases at 324 medals add up to 12,960 medals, far beyond what the track can actually provide. The displayed cap isn't a goal, it's a budget trap.
Three buildings per village and the Amazing Orb: where the medals come from
The chain is short: card tokens are collected in multiplayer battles and advance the rewards track, which hands out quest medals. The official post finally gives concrete figures, where our August 11 guide could only speculate:
- In each opposing village, three random buildings contain card tokens: you have to destroy them to collect them.
- 200 card tokens are available per battle at the start.
- The Incredible Orb, the event building, produces them "day after day in increasing amounts." It's the easiest part to let slip: it's checked every day, triggered with a tap, and feeds on card tokens, from which "something good" comes out.
- The rewards track also unlocks a temporary troop, the Elephant Rider, won from the Supercell Make campaign: it costs no medals.
Community reports mention around 16,000 card tokens to complete the track — another unofficial figure. Over the fourteen days remaining between this Monday, August 17 and the 31st, that comes to a bit more than 1,100 tokens per day, or about six profitable battles at 200 tokens each, less if you collect the Orb's production every day. The Event Pass speeds up the track and unlocks the trader's items earlier, though Supercell doesn't put a number on this gain.
The three deadlines to note
- From Wednesday, August 26 to Monday, August 31: the revenge deck rises to the maximum level allowed by your Hero Hall. We detailed this boost on August 11: you need to own the equipment to benefit from it, so buy it before the 26th.
- Monday, August 31, 8 a.m. UTC: end of the event. Last card token, last quest medal.
- Wednesday, September 2, 8 a.m. UTC: closing of the trader's shop and the event building. Any unspent balance disappears.
In short: choose your two pieces of equipment before August 26, taking your Town Hall into account for the revenge deck, and keep September 1st free to convert the remaining currency into resources.

Key takeaways
- A maximum of two epics can be reached with the 7,455 medals from the reward track — the choice must be made before August 26 to benefit from the revenge deck boost.
- The revenge deck is the only new addition to the shop and remains restricted to town hall 15+, which limits the trade-off options for less advanced players.
- The shop outlasts the event by two days: Tuesday, September 1 is your last chance to convert the remaining balance into resources or ore before it expires completely.
- Hero books are the most interesting alternative to an epic equipment if your bottleneck is hero level rather than equipment.
- Cheap raw resources (150,000 gold or elixir for 15 medals each) become useful for absorbing the 1,275-medal leftover from two epics.
