Halloween: The Game - all the ways to escape if you're playing a civilian

As a civilian, the goal is to survive Michael Myers and leave the map before he finds you. The game offers four distinct escape methods, each with its own requirements and timing. None is objectively "the best": it all depends on the context and how much time you have left.

Important rule to keep in mind for all methods: each escape point only accommodates three survivors maximum, NPCs included. If you take too long saving everyone, you might end up locked out yourself.

Calling the police

The most accessible method: you need a phone, and above all two and a half filled shields before the call works.

• You can make the call yourself, but watch out for the mini-game: failing it wastes precious time.
• You can also ask NPC residents to make the call for you.
• The more calls you make, the faster the police van arrives.

Once the police are on scene, a van shows up with two armed cops. You can hop in right away to escape, or wait a bit to bring along other survivors - as long as you don't exceed the three-seat limit.

Storming the Storm Shelters

Shelters spawn at random locations on the map, but their entrance is always blocked at first. You need to clear the barrier with the right tool before you can duck inside.

Good tip

If another survivor has already cleared the entrance to a cellar, you can use it directly without going through the unblocking step again. It saves a huge amount of time late in the match.

Getting out through the Outer Doors

Same blocking principle as the cellars, but with one extra constraint: you absolutely need a fuse to open these doors located on the outer edges of the map.

The problem is the spawn rate of this fuse. Over 20 runs, it was only found once. Suffice to say that relying on these doors as plan A is more a matter of luck than strategy. If you find one, head straight to one of the outer doors without dawdling.

Repairing and taking a car

The most resource-intensive method, but also potentially the fastest once everything is gathered. You need three distinct items:

• Fuel - generally found outdoors.
• Repair kit - needed to repair the engine before starting it, via a mini-game you must succeed.
• Key - essential to be able to drive the vehicle.

Once the car is repaired and started, drive carefully to the exit. A crash or Michael Myers' Blackout ability instantly fries the engine, and you'll have to start all over again with a brand new kit. This detail makes the car risky if Michael is lurking nearby at the moment of the escape.

One last thing to know: you can also choose not to escape at all and simply survive until the end of the night. An option reserved for players who like to play with fire, since every extra minute spent on the map logically increases the risk of running into Michael...
