Clash of Clans: what to do in August 2026 — Chief's Chronicles, Clash of Cards, and Elephant Rider
In brief
August 2026 is the busiest month of the year for Clash of Clans with the Chief's Chronicles, Clash of Cards, and three unprecedented merged bases. Alongside these three pillars, a packed calendar of boosters and events follows one after another. Only two or three real deadlines to keep in mind so you don't miss anything.
Since this morning at 8 a.m. UTC, a shield has been planted on the left side of your village, right next to the trader. This is the entrance to Chief's Chronicles, the annual retrospective that Supercell is rolling out for the 14th Clashiversary of Clash of Clans. It will stay there until August 31st, but it's only the most visible part of an unusually packed month of August.
The current season is called The Awesome Quest — the French client keeps the English title — and runs from August 1st to August 31st, 2026. It stacks a card collection event that's completely new for the game, a temporary troop given away for free starting tomorrow, three new built defenses exceptionally open as early as Town Hall 11, and a Clan War League that ends on Tuesday.
The trap with such a dense month is wanting to tackle everything at once. In reality, only two or three things actually have a real deadline. Here's the order to take them in starting today.

Chief's Chronicles: a few minutes today, a statue as the reward
This is the first time Clash of Clans has offered a personalized recap of the past year. The screen takes the form of a small museum in which your stats are broken down into categories: your armies, your clan, your battles. Each piece of data is revealed in one of three ways: guessing it, destroying the obstacle hiding it, or checking it directly.
At the end of the journey, the event assigns you one of six house archetypes: Lone Chief, War Chief, Clan Chief, Loyal Chief, Returning Chief, or New Chief. Each archetype comes with a personalized statue, which you can then place in your village. A central banner lets you share your result.
It's quick, free, costs neither resources nor builders, and the decoration you get stays for good. Do it now rather than at the end of the month: access disappears on August 31st.
Tomorrow, August 9th: 50 Electro Elephant Riders given to everyone for free
The "Elephant Riders and Super Valkyries on the House" event runs on August 9th and 10th. Supercell is dropping 50 Elephant Riders into everyone's army, along with Super Valkyries, with no conditions or trade-offs whatsoever.
The Elephant Rider is the season's temporary newcomer, a unit born from community proposals. Its mechanic, as described by the partnered creators who tested it early: it charges toward the nearest wall the same way the Wall Breaker does, smashes through it, then splits in two upon falling — the rider carries on alone with his spinning mace while the mount keeps charging through the defenses. A heavy-hitting unit, best played as a spearhead rather than as support.
A tip so you don't waste these 50 units: don't burn them on trophy attacks on Sunday morning. They're far better used to fine-tune a full attack sequence before the troop comes back, from August 12th to August 31st, in the Incredible Medals Event. And if your clan is still in the middle of the Clan War League until August 11th, test them out in regular multiplayer first: a poorly mastered temporary troop has no business being used on an attack that counts toward the clan's ranking.
Clash of Cards: the only event this month with a real deadline
If you should follow only one thing in August, it's Clash of Cards. Every troop in the game — home village, builder base, and super troops included — has been turned into a collectible card, and these cards are split across four collections: elixir, dark elixir, builder base, and super troops. The event is open starting from Town Hall 3.
The date to note isn't August 31st. The event itself does end on that date, but the trading window stays open until September 2nd at 8 a.m. UTC. That gives you two extra days to complete a collection that's missing just one card — the detail many will discover too late.

Where to get packs without spending
- The Card Hunt: up to 2 packs per day by battling, from August 1st to 31st. This is by far the main source — two daily attacks are enough, no need to farm for twelve hours.
- The starter bundle: 10 packs when the event opens, plus a pack the first time you go through the tutorial.
- The Trader: a free pack offered on August 4th, 11th, and 18th. So the next two land on Tuesday the 11th and Tuesday the 18th; you have to go pick it up yourself.
- The Supercell Store: exclusive tasks give out free packs until the end of the month.
- The Amazing Medal Event (August 12-31): bonus packs are placed on the free track.
- Official social media: one-off codes are shared on Supercell's channels throughout the season.
The trading rule everyone gets wrong
You can only trade your duplicates. A card you own just a single copy of is locked into your collection: nobody can take it from you, and you can't give it away either. This completely changes how you should approach the event.
The practical consequence is simple: don't open your packs in silence. Requests go through the clan chat, and a clan where everyone announces their duplicates completes all four collections much faster than a solo player. If nobody has the card, gems let you refresh a request earlier — useful later in the month, pointless right now.
The Trader acts as a safety valve: two identical copies convert into a random elixir, dark elixir, or builder base card, three identical copies into a super troop card. Keep a stock of duplicates rather than converting everything right away.
What the collection rewards
| Different cards | Reward |
|---|---|
| 10 | Card Book decoration |
| 20 | 5,000 shiny ore |
| 30 | 500 glowy ore |
| 40 | 50 starry ore |
| 50 | 2 Builder Potions |
| 60 | Manga Fury Prince skin |
Fully completing a collection also grants a corresponding rune — elixir rune, dark elixir rune, gold rune — and a legendary chest. The 50 starry ore from tier 40 alone justifies sticking with the collection to the end: it's the resource that limits equipment upgrades at the highest level, and it almost never drops in any real quantity.
Finally, the Clash of Cards decoration obtained at the start of the event stays in your village after August 31st and serves as a permanent access point to the collection screen: the binder doesn't disappear with the season.
Assembled defenses: three new additions opened from Town Hall 11
The assembled defenses cycle switched over on August 1st and offers three brand-new modules: the explosive catapult, the hero eradicator, and the candle blazer. According to the descriptions shared before launch, the candle blazer shoots a multi-target flame whose targeting capability shrinks the longer the attack lasts, the hero eradicator specifically targets heroes and poisons them, and the explosive catapult launches booby-trapped cakes.
The key point comes down to one sentence from Supercell: "This year, for Clashiversary, assembled defenses are available starting from Town Hall level 11!" Usually reserved for higher tiers, they're now opening up to significantly smaller villages. If you're between Town Hall 11 and Town Hall 14, upgrade the modules now: access isn't guaranteed for the next cycle.
The rest of the calendar, from August 8th to 31st
| Dates | Event |
|---|---|
| Until August 11th | Clan War League |
| August 9-10 | Elephant Riders and mass Super Valkyries |
| August 12-31 | Incredible Medal Event |
| August 15-17 | Resource festival and Deal of the Day #1 |
| August 17-18 | Mass Spells #2 |
| August 22-28 | Clan Games |
| August 26-31 | Revenge Deck boost |
| August 29-31 | Resource festival and Deal of the Day #2 |
| Until August 31st | Gold Pass, Clash of Cards, The Awesome Quest decoration, Chief's Chronicles |
Two lines deserve some planning. The Incredible Medal Event (August 12-31) is the economic heart of the season: you collect card tokens by battling, convert your quest medals at the trader, and this is how the Elephant Rider comes back after the distribution weekend. The Revenge Deck boost (August 26-31) bumps the new epic equipment from the revenge deck up to the maximum level allowed by your Hero Hall: the only window this month to try it out without spending any ore.
On the cosmetics side, this season's Gold Pass showcases the Stormy Champion skin for the Royal Champion, while the other hero skins are rolling out in staggered waves since the start of the month — Barbarian King, Archer Queen, Fireflame Duke, Necromancer Prince, and Eminent Mage.
And if you're attacking this week: what the latest balance update changed
The Clan War League still runs until August 11th and is still played under the July 13, 2026 balancing. The Meteorite Golem and its Meteorite Mites received what Supercell itself described as the biggest buff of this patch; the Electro Dragon gained a bit of hit points and damage on its last two levels, and the Druid heals slightly better at max level.
On the flip side, the Dragon Rider lost hit points and damage at its max level, and the Dragon Duke had its trap damage reduction trimmed down. On defense, the Lumberjack, one of the Town Hall's guardians, lost two tiles of range in exchange for a stronger short-range punch: compositions built around its maximum range need a rethink.
What to start with today
In order, for this Saturday: open the Chief's Chronicles and claim your statue, then make your two daily attacks for the card hunt and announce your duplicates in the clan chat. If your clan is still in the Clan War League, save your serious attacks for that. Tomorrow, use your 50 Elephant Riders in multiplayer to get a feel for the troop before it becomes event currency again on the 12th.
The rest — resource festivals, clan games, equipment boost — require no preparation. The only thing you'll permanently lose out on if you drop off are the Clash of Cards tiers: two packs a day between now and the end of the month, plus clan trades, are more than enough to reach 60 cards. You just have to avoid skipping a week.
