Gebbo's Bottomless Bag: WoW Midnight Aug 14 Changes

Blizzard subjected World of Warcraft: Midnight's trinkets to a full balance revision in its August 14, 2026 patches, five days before season 2 opens on August 19. 23 trinkets are named, across 24 lines of notes. Here they all are, with the meaning of each change.

If these 24 lines flew under the radar, it's because they didn't get their own post: they're buried in the "Patches: August 17, 2026" page, a cumulative document stacking three days of interventions — August 13, 14, and 17. The "Trinkets" block sits under the August 14 date.

Two values bracket the pass. The biggest gain goes to Kyrakka's Searing Embers: healing increased by 80%, damage increased by 50%. The harshest cut falls on Gebbo's Bottomless Bag, secondary stat effects reduced by 29%. Between the two, ten trinkets receive exactly 15% more damage.

What the source says, and what it refuses to say

One caveat before the table. Blizzard only publishes relative variations here: no starting value, no absolute figure. A trinket gaining 15% damage can still trail behind a trinket losing 15%, if the latter started from higher. These notes tell you who's going up and who's going down, nothing more: you won't find any DPS figures or rankings here.

Second limitation: the trinkets' origin is never specified. We can only note that three of them bear the name of a boss from the Venom-Bound Abyss — Sszorak's Ferocity, Vashnik's Bloodthirsty Grudge, Vexhul's Dripping Gland — which ties the operation to the raid's first week, opening August 19. For the others, nothing is said — and the page notes that it "will be updated as new patches roll out".

The complete table of 23 trinkets

The labels are copied as-is from the official English version: Blizzard fully translates WoW, none of these names are our own invention. The order follows that of the page.

Twenty-three table rows for twenty-four notes: the gap comes from the Nœud de serpents tortueux, which takes up two entries at Blizzard, one for its damage increase, the other for its removal for healers. That's 17 straight increases, 5 straight decreases, one two-pronged line and one removal.

The five decreases, from heaviest to lightest

These are the only lines worth watching before heading back into a dungeon. In order:

1. Gebbo's Bottomless Bag — secondary stat effects reduced by 29%. The only trinket targeting secondary stats, and the strongest nerf on the list.
2. Aln's Prophetic Gaze — primary stat reduced by 20%. The only one affecting the primary stat.
3. Crucible of the Erratic Energies — critical strikes reduced by 15%.
4. Ritual Vessel of Entangleflame — absorption reduced by 15%.
5. Vaelgor's Final Gaze — Mastery reduced by 10%. The mildest correction of the bunch.

None of the five has been removed from the game or restricted: they still work, just less powerfully. Nothing forces you to discard them if the alternative is several item levels behind.

Ten trinkets at +15% damage: the pivot value of the pass

The number that comes up most is 15%, applied to damage, and it affects ten of the twenty-three trinkets: Twisted Crockstone, Hook of Shadowy Malevolence, Coil of Twisting Serpents, Mindslicer's Seal, Sapling of Auberacine, Ferocity of Sszorak, Bottled Electromentalist, Swarm's Tumor, Vashnik's Bloodthirsty Grudge, and Vexhul's Dripping Gland.

The practical consequence matters more than the number: these ten move together, so their relative order doesn't change. If you were torn between two of them before August 14, the trade-off remains the same. Three trinkets do better: Squire's Guard-Carapace at 25%, Source of Venomous Rage at 20%, Kyrakka's Burning Embers at 50%.

Healers: four buffs and one trinket slipping away from you

This is the best-served category. Mycolic Remedy sees all its healing increased by 30%. Supernatural Antivenom gains 30% healing and receives a fix: its effect didn't always trigger after the aura was applied to an ally. Swarm's Tumor rises by 40% on the healing side. And Kyrakka's Burning Embers takes the already-mentioned 80%, the biggest value in the pass.

The trade-off is clear-cut: Coil of Twisting Serpents is "no longer available for healing specializations." It gains 15% damage while simultaneously being removed from your loot pool. If you heal, there's no point waiting for it.

A detail for anyone going back to reread the source: the page writes "Coil of Twisting Serpents" on the buff line, then "Coil of the Twisting Serpents" on the removal line, one line apart. Same item, two spellings: one of the two is a Blizzard typo. We reproduce the published labels without settling the matter, for lack of a screenshot from the French client.

Tanks: one absorption going up, one going down

Only two lines mention absorption, and they go in opposite directions: Unstable Gangreheart Crystal gains 30% absorption, Ritual Vessel of Entangleflame loses 15%. Blizzard nowhere states that they are reserved for tanks or that they are interchangeable: the ratio between the two has simply shifted by one clean notch.

The Baleful Idol of the Lord of Evils: the buff that reads backward

This is the easiest line in the block to misread: "stacking Intellect reduction reduced by 33%" and "Intellect granted on use increased by 15% per stack." A hurried reader will see an increase and a decrease that cancel each other out. It's the opposite: the first value is a penalty, and a penalty reduced by a third is a gain. Both changes push in the same direction. It's the only trinket on the list where this is the case.

What to do this Friday, August 21

None of this requires extra farming. Three steps are enough.

• Reopen your bags and your bank. A trinket set aside because it seemed weak may have gained 15%, 20%, 25%, or 50% since August 14 — the Burning Embers of Kyrakka in particular, if you heal.
• Cross-check your two equipped slots against the table. If one of your trinkets is among the five nerfs, compare it to what's in your reserve, item level gap included.
• Don't re-simulate anything based on these figures alone. These percentages apply to one component of the trinket, not to its overall value.

Two other lines on the same page are worth a look. On August 17, the poison from Serpent Strike used by the Amphisberas of Ula'tek can no longer apply more than one aura at a time in Delves, its damage has been reduced by 25%, and its cooldown increased. On August 13, Blizzard fixed the ritual sites that were showing incorrect Great Vault levels, announcing that "next week" — the week of August 19, meaning the current one — would bring "levels 1 through 6 intended for week one activities." That same day, loot from Nymrissa Wavemender in world mode was changed to once per week.

One last note: the August 14 entry contains a second typo, unrelated to trinkets. The line about renown reads "the forces of Zul'jaara" and then "the Brave of the forces of Zul'jarra" achievement in the same sentence, whereas the August 13 entry only uses the second spelling. Here again, we're simply quoting without settling the matter.
