WoW Midnight 12.1.5 Preview: Kith'ix Raid, Labyrinths, Infestation
In brief
Blizzard unveiled World of Warcraft Midnight patch 12.1.5 on September 3, 2026, featuring a single-boss raid against Kith'ix, a new content type called Labyrinths, and an Aqir invasion event with eight affixes. Ascended Venithes replace Ascended Void Cores for gear enhancement. But be warned: no release date has been announced.
Blizzard posted on Thursday, September 3, 2026 the preview of the 12.1.5 update for Midnight, written in French. Five blocks are announced there, including a brand-new type of content, the labyrinths, and an upgrade currency, the ascendant venithes. The studio sees it as a return "to the heart of Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman for the dramatic finale of this saga."
One point before anything else: the preview does not publish any date. No day, no window, no month. The text closes on "Join the PTR." Everything that follows is therefore in the future tense: 12.1.5 is not playable on the live realms, and Blizzard has announced no schedule.
Five blocks announced, zero schedule
The official summary, "What awaits you," sets the vocabulary of the patch.
- New story campaign: The Promise of Tomorrow
- New single-boss raid: the Unraveling of Kith'ix
- Labyrinths and the Kindo'jan labyrinth
- Outdoor event: the Aqir invasion
- The ascendant venithes
Nothing else: no class changes, no side revamp. The words "season 3" never appear.
The Promise of Tomorrow and the Unraveling of Kith'ix
The campaign is called The Promise of Tomorrow and holds in one official sentence: "Preserve a fragile peace between Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman, descend into the dizzying depths of Coiled Isle and make your last stand against the ancient enemy of the Amani, the C'Thraxxi general Kith'ix." Its trigger: the defeat of Ula'tek, which "awakened a terror that had long lain dormant."
This terror is Kith'ix, and he carries the raid on his own: "hidden beneath the vaults of Ula'tek," he was freed by the latter's fall. The confrontation is called the Unraveling of Kith'ix and is played "alongside Lady Liadrin."
What the preview leaves unsaid is exactly what a player looks for: no group size, no difficulty mode, no reward level, no opening date, and nothing about the fate of the Venomous Abyss, the eight-boss raid of season 2. The studio never writes that one replaces the other.
Labyrinths: what Blizzard publishes, and what it keeps to itself
The newest piece is a type of content, not a dungeon. Blizzard is targeting the Delves audience — "those who love Delves and are looking to experience a deeper adventure" — and describes "a kind of dungeon that stretches as far as the eye can see." The name is written in lowercase by the publisher.

The kinship lies in exploration, discovery, and challenge "alongside a companion character" — Valeera Sanguinar, already the Delves' companion. The break lies in the pacing, left free: "in one epic session or […] step by step."
| Point | What the September 3, 2026 preview states |
|---|---|
| Companion | Valeera Sanguinar, as in The Cavern |
| Format | "dungeons stretching as far as the eye can see" |
| Pace | One sitting, or step by step |
| Progression | "dedicated systems", "powerful elements to unlock" |
| First labyrinth | Kindo'jan |
| Group size | Not published |
| Difficulty tiers | Not published, no label given |
| Reward level | Not published |
| Number at launch | Not published, only Kindo'jan is named |
| Currency source? | Absent from the official list |
Kindo'jan is an "ancient Amani funerary complex" that has remained "sealed for centuries". Since its reopening, "looting vermin and Vilebranch scour it", "while buried spirits defend it". No named boss, no duration, no floor count.
The Aqir invasions: ten minutes every hour, eight affixes
The event will take place "in Eversong or Zul'Aman" — the shorthand Blizzard uses for the Eversong Woods. The pace is quantified: "For ten minutes every hour", public events chain together "before facing an intense boss". Six types of scenarios are announced, "three of which focus on combat"; the eight affixes apply only to those three.

One sentence deserves a second read: "Heroes who create groups will receive rewards for each objective completed." The reward is tied to those who create the group; the preview does not say what those who join receive. We won't speculate.
The names below are those from the official English text; the right-hand column is our interpretation.
| Affix | Effect described by Blizzard | Who is affected |
|---|---|---|
| Void Protection | An Aqir voidweaver places a barrier on all other Aqir | Buffs the Aqir |
| Aqir Burrower | Aqir burrow and launch nearby characters into the air | Players |
| Void Sphere | Moving spheres trap "those they encounter" | Players |
| Astalor's Anguish | Crystals explode, damaging both Aqir and characters | Both |
| Swarms! | Enemy Aqir are replaced by a swarm of smaller Aqir | Composition |
| Aqir Elite | Fewer enemies, but more powerful | Composition |
| Void Infestation | Aqir explode in combat and infect others | Both |
| Webweaver | Channeled cast to interrupt, otherwise a web covers a character | Players |
Two affixes buff the Aqir side, two change the composition of the waves, two hit players alone, two hit everyone. Only one, Webweaver, is explicitly countered by an interrupt: it's the only action verb in the entire preview. Astalor's Anguish is the only callback to content already in the game — "Astalor's experiments continue", referring to the antagonist of The Hunt.
Ascendant Venithes: 10 per upgrade, four sources, three slots
This is the most actionable part, because its four sources point to content that already exists. Blizzard announces that "Ascendant Voidcores will return in the form of Ascendant Venithes."

Unlocking them goes through Orin Fugéclat, "near the Silvermoon catalyst," and the quest Ancestral Depths, Ancestral Venom. What follows sets an unquantified delay: Venithes will only drop "once this quest is complete and once Orin has had time to conduct his research."
| Source | Published condition |
|---|---|
| Raid bosses | Every boss on Heroic or Mythic — no raid named |
| Dungeons | "Mythic+ keystone at +10 and above" |
| Delves | Level 11 Bountiful Delves |
| Hunt | Nightmare-mode Hunt champion gear chests |
The cost is quantified and the target restrictive: 10 Venithes to raise the ilvl of "a fully upgraded Season 2 weapon, trinket, or necklace of Heroic or Mythic quality, or the highest-quality Tidal crafted gear."
Two clarifications. The list cites neither rings nor armor pieces: three slots, plus the crafting route, and the item must be "fully upgraded" beforehand. Above all, Blizzard writes "raise the ilvl" without saying by how much — we are not inferring it from previous systems.
Two blind spots on the official page
The first is a dead link. The last sentence invites readers to comment "on the official forum," and the anchor points to forums.blizzard.com/wow/. This host has no DNS entry: the link leads nowhere. The thread that responds is the French-language thread, at eu.forums.blizzard.com. Verified on September 4, 2026.
The second is a gap: "Join the PTR" comes with no link and no procedure whatsoever. A formatting detail: the sign-off on the French page remains in English ("le September 3rd à 4:00pm"), while the timestamp embedded in its code reads 2026-09-03T16:00:00Z, i.e. 6:00 PM in Paris. This is our conversion from UTC time.
What to remember
Patch 12.1.5 is a preview, and nothing more: five named work streams, a complete French vocabulary, zero schedule. Any date circulating out there does not come from Blizzard.
What remains is a practical reading, which is ours and not guidance from the publisher. The four Venithe sources point to content that is already accessible, and eligibility applies to items that are "fully upgraded." The only defensible preparation, then, is to finish upgrading your Season 2 weapon, trinkets, and necklace — not to stockpile new ones.
As for the rest: neither the size of Delve groups, nor the ilvl gain from a Venithe, nor the fate of the Venomous Abyss have been published. The PTR is the only place these answers will appear, and nothing seen there is final.
