PUBG Next Premium Crate: Release Date & G-Coin Refunds

Krafton is going to remove several crates from the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Workshop. The deadline appears in two official documents under a deliberately vague name: "the September update." No version number, no date. As of Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the publisher hasn't actually published anything new: its latest Steam announcement is a notice about weekly bans dated August 26, and the last post on the pubg.com news feed dates back to August 11.

Two measures kick in at this switchover. The first removes crates and pays out compensation, calculated crate by crate, kit by kit. The second multiplies the credit cost of the collaboration engravings—NewJeans, aespa, G-DRAGON—by five. The first is published in French, the second is not—and that's the first pitfall.

The page that costs the most doesn't exist in French

The patch notes for update 42.3 are indeed translated: the "Notice Regarding Workshop Crate Removal" section is readable on the French page, tables included. The "August Store Update 2026" post, however, only exists in English. The address pubg.com/fr/news/10828 doesn't serve any content: it redirects to pubg.com/fr/news?error=NOT_FOUND_POST_CONTENT, verified on September 1, 2026. Yet it's this very post, and this one alone, that covers the price increase for engravings.

Second discrepancy, and it matters: Krafton's French pages convert schedules to Paris time—"Sale Period (Paris time)"—while the English ones stay in UTC. The end of the Archivist's Crate sale is thus dated July 15, 2026 at 00:00 UTC on the English side and July 15 at 2 a.m. on the French side. Same instant, two different notations.

Then there's the vocabulary. Four currencies are involved in this matter, and they are not interchangeable.

The four removed crates and what they give back

The general rule fits in one sentence from Krafton: "If you own any of the crates scheduled for removal, you will receive compensation equivalent to their respective value."

The two prestige packages aren't there by chance. July's store update, which is properly translated, explains the mechanism: by removing the Archivist's Crate, Krafton is making unavailable "the Dorian and Hanna Prestige Packages that this crate could contain," which "will also be removed from the bonus item list of the Archivist's Crates you currently own." Opening a crate can therefore no longer drop the package: only those already in your possession will be compensated.

The crate has no longer been sold since July 15, 2026, at 2 a.m. on PC and July 23 at 2 a.m. on console. The studio wrote at the time: "If you wish to use it, we invite you to do so before the September update." One last thing to watch out for is inconsistent naming: the same publisher writes "survivor crate" in July and "SURVIVOR CRATE" in August for the same item. The hunter's crate, meanwhile, is not being removed — 42.3 even added item sets to it, just as it did to the archivist's crate, which is nevertheless going to disappear.

Archivist kits: a scale that isn't linear

For bundles, the rule changes: compensation is "equivalent to the purchase price of the kit or pack," rather than to the value of the crates they contain.

The right-hand column is our own division, not a figure provided by the publisher. Three distinct patterns emerge: the kits of 5 and 10 return exactly 180 G-Coin per crate, matching the value of a single crate; those of 25 and 50 return 230; the single-crate kit returns 240. The large kits are therefore more generous per crate than the medium ones, the opposite of a volume discount. Krafton offers no explanation and simply announces a refund at purchase price.

The real trap lies elsewhere: the Archivist Crate Pack (×1) returns 10 Craftsman's Coupons, while the Archivist Crate Kit (×1) returns 240 G-Coin. Two nearly identical-sounding lines, two different currencies.

Nineteen Survivor Pass bundles, at 400 or 200 G-Coin

Premium Survivor Passes sold with a survivor crate included are handled separately: the kit "will be updated to exclude them after the September update," and you receive the value of the removed crates.

Several of these bundles appear twice on the site, once under their own name and once as "PUBG - …," which brings the official list to nineteen entries. Read it with caution: the compensation cells are merged across several rows, and it's very easy to attach a bundle to the wrong tier. After a line-by-line review, the 400 G-Coin tier does indeed cover six entries, up to and including "Pastel Punk Queen," while the 200 G-Coin tier covers thirteen, starting from "Zero Gravity."

Collaboration engravings are multiplied fivefold

Here's the part Krafton didn't translate. The English post announcing the August store update mentions, without giving a date, an adjustment to the crafting and dismantling credit balance for the collaboration items listed below. The French vocabulary, meanwhile, is attested elsewhere on the official site, on the "Workshop Items Update" page and on the aespa collaboration page: there, the Workshop talks about skins, credits, crafting, and disassembly.

The ratio between the two columns is strictly preserved on each line: ×5 on both sides for the first tier, ×3 for the second, ×1.67 for Xiaohai. The round trip of crafting then dismantling therefore always costs the same proportion, but its absolute cost skyrockets: 1,500 credits lost on a NewJeans skin before the switch, 7,500 after. This calculation is our own; the publisher merely lines up the values.

The practical consequence flips from one column to the other: craft before, dismantle after. A NewJeans skin costs 2,000 credits until the switch and 10,000 afterward; conversely, a duplicate you don't want yields 500 credits before and 2,500 after. Xiaohai's case is the most convoluted: its collaboration remains on sale until November 25, 2026, even though its crafting cost will already have increased.

One last figure links the two halves of this article. Special crafting officially exchanges 15 Craftsman's Tokens for 3,000 credits, or 200 credits per token. The 10 tokens awarded for an Archivist's Chest Pack (×1) are therefore worth 2,000 credits at that rate — exactly the price of a NewJeans skin before the switch, and one-fifth of its price after. This is our own conversion, based on the crafting rates published by Krafton in July: the studio at no point presents these tokens as convertible into credits. These same 10 tokens also buy a Claimant Cargo ticket, priced at 10,000 PB in the store.

What to do before the switch

Since no date has been published, the only prudent course of action is to act without delay.

1. Open your Archivist's and Survivor's chests if you're interested in their contents: opened, a chest gives an item; kept, it will give 180 or 200 G-Coin.
2. Don't count on prestige packages anymore: they left the Archivist's Chest bonus list as of July.
3. Craft the skin you're after while it's still 2,000, 1,000, or 600 credits.
4. Keep your duplicates for after the update: dismantling will yield three to five times more.
5. Check whether your bundle is a "pack" or a "kit": Craftsman's Tokens in one case, G-Coin in the other.

The already-dated September deadlines frame all of this. They are published in UTC in the English post; the right-hand column is our conversion to Paris time, valid as long as France is on UTC+2.

What to remember. Krafton has itemized its cleanup down to the last G-Coin in a full French page, and left the measure most costly to players — the price of engravings multiplied by five — in a page that exists only in English. The chest compensation holds no surprises; the kit pricing scale deserves a careful read, and confusing "pack" with "kit" will cost G-Coin to those who make that mistake. Finally, as long as no version number or date has been published, "the September update" could land on any day of the month: treat the window as already open.
