Phasmophobia 0.19.0.0: the door noise that got Yurei falsely accused is fixed — and two traps await on the Restricted maps
In brief
Phasmophobia's 0.19.0.0 update fixes a devastating false positive: the delayed sound of a closing door was triggering long after its animation, trapping players into a false Yurei diagnosis. Bonus: two acknowledged traps await on the Restricted maps, and custom difficulty with a zero multiplier now blocks all progression, including achievements.
Kinetic Games released version 0.19.0.0 of Phasmophobia on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the second part of its comfort update. We previously covered the August 11 preview — the Restricted maps, the journal overhaul, the VR rig — then, on August 19, the tile that resets the multiplier to zero.
This guide covers what the preview didn't mention: the patch notes, published only on release day. In them we find the end of a false positive that led to non-existent Yurei being accused, two acknowledged traps on the new maps, and a consequence of custom difficulty that goes further than what had been announced.
We're keeping the English map names: Kinetic Games only publishes its notes in English, and the French client doesn't translate these location names.
The door sound that used to get a Yurei falsely accused no longer exists
In the environment fixes section, one entry deserves to be read in full, because it's rare: Kinetic Games describes not only the bug there, but also the misdiagnosis it caused among players.
The bug: the sound of a door closing would trigger long after the closing animation had finished. The patch notes' conclusion is explicit — « This issue led players to believe this was evidence of a Yurei ».
Why it worked so well as a false positive: the Yurei is precisely identified by doors closing on their own. A slam delayed by several seconds, with no one standing in front of the door, checked exactly that box. Teams therefore confirmed a Yurei on a door that someone had closed by hand ten seconds earlier.
Direct consequence: if you'd gotten into the habit of treating an isolated slam as a clue, drop that reflex. As of 0.19.0.0, a door sound now corresponds to a door actually moving.

Two acknowledged traps on the new Restricted maps
The Restricted versions of Prison, Brownstone High School, and Point Hope arrive with a list of known issues published by the studio itself. Two of them can flat-out block a contract.
| Map | The known issue | What you're looking for in vain |
|---|---|---|
| Brownstone High School Restricted | The bone can spawn in a hiding spot | If the hiding spot is locked, the bone is inaccessible — and so is the bounty |
| Prison Restricted | The Circuit Breaker can spawn in the Visitation Security Room | When only the upper floor is open, the room is out of reach |
Two other warnings come with these maps, less blocking but useful to know:
- The prison entrance offers the ghost few interactions on Prison Restricted. A quiet entrance room therefore doesn't mean the entity is elsewhere there.
- Equipment placed on certain barricades on the new maps can become unretrievable. Place your cameras and spotlights on the floor, not on the obstacles closing off the area.
As compensation, one change that will be felt on every back-and-forth trip: the truck has been moved closer to the main entrance on Brownstone High School and on Prison. On two maps of that size, that's dozens of seconds saved per trip.
Custom difficulty with a zero multiplier no longer advances anything at all
We flagged on August 19 the line in the preview that brings the multiplier down to zero as soon as you choose the ghost type. The released version draws a consequence from this that wasn't in the preview:
"Custom difficulties with a 0 multiplier will no longer contribute to any progression, such as achievements and leaflets."
This mode therefore no longer costs only the contract's money and experience: it also no longer advances what you're pursuing over the long run. A player who thought "I'm just training, but at least my achievements are progressing" was mistaken. Reserve it strictly for pure practice.
Four fixes that make your evidence reliable
Among the roughly one hundred entries on the list, four directly affect what matters during an investigation:
| The fixed issue | What it changes |
|---|---|
| The camera wasn't detecting the ghost even though it did appear in the photo | Your ghost photos count |
| Unable to retake an EMF 5 evidence photo after deleting one from the journal | A deletion is no longer permanent |
| The hiding spots at 13 Willow Street were ineffective with the I Wish For Safety wish from the Monkey Paw | The wish no longer dooms you on this map |
| The "misidentified ghosts" counter increased every time the debrief screen was opened | Your statistics stop deteriorating on their own |
Two others deserve a separate mention.
For Oni hunters: the Oni's chanting event **was only removing 10% sanity instead of the intended 20%**. It has been fixed, and therefore now costs twice as much. If you had calibrated your medication supplies to the old figure, redo the math.
For Sunny Meadows players: the hiding spot in the Female Day Room was broken; it's now fixed. A companion fix also removes the wallpapers from the Phasmophobia by Alan Wake event that had made their way into Bleasdale Farmhouse.
What was properly delivered, and what we had already announced
As a reminder, and without going back over it in detail since we described it on August 13: the Duplicate stamps on the camera, video camera, and Sound Recorder are indeed there, with their five distinct signals depending on the device and its tier. The journal does display other players' selections, and the Keys section has indeed given way to "Found Items".
A known issue does, however, accompany the new evidence highlighting: if you close the journal while a ghost type was being hovered over, the highlighting stays stuck. The workaround given by the studio is to hover over another type and then move off it.
Three other known issues are worth noting before your first session:
- Character animations can break if the Tier 1 camera is stowed or dropped during its use animation.
- Text on evidence captured by the video camera may display incorrectly for non-English-speaking players — so, for us.
- On Tanglewood, Nell's Diner, Sunny Meadows and its Restricted version, you may spawn as Amir Kelly instead of your chosen character.
What to do in your next game
- Stop confirming a Yurei on a single bang — the sound delay that used to simulate it no longer exists.
- On Prison Restricted, if the Circuit Breaker is nowhere to be found, stop searching: it might be in the Visitation Security Room, outside the play area.
- On Brownstone High School Restricted, don't count on the bone until the studio fixes its spawning in locked hiding spots.
- Don't place anything on the barricades on the new maps: your equipment can get stuck there.
- Keep custom difficulty at 0 when training solo: it no longer counts toward achievement progress.
