The Alan Wake franchise, developed by Remedy Entertainment, is a psychological horror and action-adventure video game series that began in 2010. Alan Wake is a thriller writer suffering from writer's block, who confronts supernatural forces in the small town of Bright Falls. The base game Alan Wake (2010) follows the author Alan Wake who, after his wife Alice disappears in Cauldron Lake, must defy the Dark Presence. It truly possesses the inhabitants and materializes Alan's writings.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare (2012), a standalone spin-off, pits Alan against an evil double, Mr. Scratch, featured in a fictional episode of Night Springs that is more action-oriented. Alan Wake 2 (2023) marks a triumphant return 13 years later, with the Dark Place, alongside FBI agent Saga Anderson. The Alan Wake universe crosses over with Control, another Remedy title.
