Alan Wake's American Nightmare

Alan Wake's American Nightmare is a standalone spin-off of Alan Wake, developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Released in 2012, this third-person action thriller takes place in Arizona, where Alan Wake is trapped in an episode of the fictional series Night Springs (Zone X) that he wrote himself. A prisoner of a time loop, he must confront his evil double, Mr. Scratch, to escape and regain his freedom.

The gameplay emphasizes arcade action with intense battles against hordes of supernatural enemies, using light and various weapons. A narrative Campaign mode and an Arena mode, "Fight 'Till Dawn", offer waves of monsters until daybreak. More action-oriented than the original, it pays tribute to Rod Serling and Stephen King.
