In brief

inZOI receives its update on Thursday, September 3rd at 8 a.m. (Paris time). The studio confirms three major improvements: sleep and hunger managed more naturally, proximity that influences seating at the table, and Zois who own establishments now driving there by themselves. However, the complete establishment system — the one where customers arrive, eat, pay, and leave — will not be included: a prototype is promised for later, with no guarantee.

The weekly inZOI letter dropped at 12:52 PM UTC on Friday, August 28, 2026, under the title "The Week Before the Update." Kjun gives two pieces of contradictory information in it.

The good one: the update finally has a date and a time. The bad one: the system he described on August 14 — the customer who walks in, sits down, eats, pays, and leaves — is not in the build. He writes it himself, without dressing it up.

This guide separates the two: what will be there Thursday morning, what won't be, and what will remain manual.

Thursday, September 3, 6:00 AM UTC

The official wording is "September 3rd (Thu) at 6:00 AM UTC." September 3, 2026 is indeed a Thursday: that is 2:00 AM ET and 11:00 PM PT on Wednesday the 2nd, 7:00 AM in London, 8:00 AM in Berlin. Start the download before heading to work.

  • No version number is given: don't expect a "v0.9.7." The latest public version remains v0.9.6, put online on Steam on July 30.
  • The detailed patch notes don't exist yet: they will be published on the day itself. On Steam, they are labeled "Patch Details," and the recorded defects appear under "Known Issues."

The three confirmed behaviors in the build

Kjun doesn't lay out the full content of the update, but he specifically names three changes. These are the only ones to rely on today.

Sleep and hunger: let go of the action queue

Fundamental needs, "sleep and hunger," are announced as being managed more naturally — the direct response to the symptom the studio mentioned on August 21: Zois no longer going to bed when they should.

The right move on Thursday: take a test household, give it no orders for a full in-game day, and watch.

At the table: proximity determines seating

Second point, and this is the one that will generate the most false bug reports. Zois will sit at the table with those they are close to. Corollary spelled out clearly by Kjun: those who aren't close enough yet will sit apart, and he asks for a bit of patience.

In other words: this is not a bug, it's the rule. A newly moved-in roommate or a partner who arrived the day before will eat on their own until the relationship has grown. Build up the friendship before concluding that the family meal is broken.

Car: ownership is the condition

Third point: Zois who own a vehicle will get into their car alone to reach their destination. The key word is "own": a Zoi without a vehicle registered to their name will move around as before, nothing in the letter says otherwise. So, check this before Thursday: who, in your household, actually owns a car.

What is not in the September 3 update

Kjun calls it the "venue system". A necessary caveat: that is his own wording in a weekly letter, not a label the game displays. Krafton has published this letter in English only, and no in-game name for the system has been announced.

Two specific things are missing, and they are exactly the ones the studio highlighted on August 14:

  • the complete customer journey: they arrive, sit down to eat, pay the bill, then leave;
  • the blocking of customer seats, which prevents a manager from sitting down in a seat reserved for customers to eat there.

The rest fits in one sentence: a prototype is expected "next week", meaning from August 31 to September 6, and the studio hopes to deliver the feature through a hotfix, "if possible". These are its words, and they commit to nothing.

"I wanted to spend just a little more time finishing it properly, but the schedule simply wouldn't allow it."

Don't build anything on this hotfix. The August update has already become a September update, and this piece has just been pulled from a build announced as locked. A prototype is not a date.

What will still need to be done by hand

If you're running a commercial property, the consequence is direct: your service routine won't change on September 3. Until the patch arrives:

  • Manually control the manager during opening hours: since automatic blocking isn't delivered yet, it's the only way to keep them out of customer seats.
  • Don't count on autonomous payment collection at the end of a meal: the complete customer journey isn't arriving on Thursday.
  • Don't remodel your dining room by betting on seats that would fill up on their own, and don't adjust your prices based on foot traffic that hasn't yet changed in nature.

A reminder that hasn't changed: the studio warned on August 14 that manually edited regions and spaces would see some of their settings need to be re-saved. Taking inventory is better done before Thursday than after.

The verdict before Thursday

The September 3 update deserves to be installed for its three confirmed behaviors, which touch the heart of the simulation. It doesn't deserve to be waited for because of its new features — the studio has been repeating this since August 14 — and especially not for the customer journey, which won't be part of it.

Frequently asked questions

What time exactly does the update release in France?
Thursday, September 3rd at 8 a.m. The studio announced 6 a.m. UTC, and since France is at UTC+2 in September, that makes it 8 a.m. in Paris. Start the download before heading to work.
Is the complete customer journey (arrival, meal, payment, departure) included?
No. That's the major disappointment. A prototype is circulating internally and the studio hopes to deliver it via a patch "if possible," but no date has been confirmed. Don't count on it.
Why don't my Zois sit together at the table after the update?
Because proximity (relationship) determines who sits with whom. Your brand-new roommates or freshly arrived spouses will keep to themselves until the relationship has grown. This is intentional, not a bug.
Will my Zois finally sleep on their own?
Yes, sleep and hunger are now managed more naturally. The studio targeted exactly the issue it described: Zois refusing to go to their bed. Check it out Thursday by leaving them free for a day.
Will the patch notes be available in full before Thursday?
No. The studio will release the details on the very day of the update, along with known issues. No early access, zero spoilers.

Key takeaways

  • The update arrives Thursday, September 3rd at 8 a.m. French time, not before.
  • Primary needs (sleep, hunger) finally become more autonomous, and that's a solid improvement.
  • Relationships now matter at the table: your Zois will sit with those they like, not by default.
  • The complete establishment system is skipped this time, and there's no workaround.
  • Your business routine stays manual until the promised fix, if there is one.
