Ghost of Yotei: Legends Rift Characters — Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, Jin
In brief
Public Enemy, the roguelike solo mode of Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, welcomes four playable characters with sharply defined identities: Atsu the pack, Oyuki the shadow, Nagato the archer, and Jin Sakai the swordsman with stances. Each arrives with their own weapons, ultimates, and elimination chains, shaping radically different playstyles against the Six of Yōtei and Lord Saito.
On Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 3:16 PM (Paris time), Sucker Punch published on the French PlayStation.Blog the first complete technical fact sheet for Public Enemy, the single-player mode shipping with Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition on October 1, 2026. The post, signed by Andrew Goldfarb, the studio's senior communications manager, accompanies the Japanese State of Play and reveals the mode's fourth playable character: Jin Sakai, the hero of Ghost of Tsushima.
A word about the source, because it matters: this post is natively in French. The terms cited below — "Call of the Pack," "bounty board," the mon — are therefore official names from Sony, not our translations. That's rare enough to be worth flagging: Sucker Punch's patch notes, by contrast, only ever come out in English.
The Public Enemy loop: bounties, waves, perks, and mon
Sucker Punch describes Public Enemy as "a new solo survival and combat mode that's included in Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition," and files it under "a kind of roguelike mode." A useful clarification: this is not Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the online co-op mode. Public Enemy is played solo.
Each run opens with the bounty board. Each bounty "targets a different member of the Yōtei Six," and reaching the target means fighting through "waves of enemies and mini-bosses," with perks awarded at the end of each one, before the final boss. Bounties can be replayed at higher difficulty, up to "the toughest bounty against Lord Saito himself."
Two layers of progression coexist. Perks are picked up during a run: Sucker Punch cites "weapon mastery, gear, summons, parries, survival, and much more." Mon, the mode's currency, are spent between runs "to unlock new techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and characters." The studio never states how many perks exist, nor what anything costs in mon.

Two details often go unnoticed. First, cosmetics earned here can be used in the main game and in Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara. Second, the phrase "once you've unlocked all four characters" implies that three of them need to be unlocked, with Atsu presented as the "default character." Sucker Punch gives neither the order nor the cost of these unlocks: the post presents Jin Sakai last, but that's a presentation order, not a progression order.
The four characters in one table
"Each character will start with a katana, along with their own unique additional weapons, skills, ultimate abilities, and finisher chains." The katana is the only common denominator; everything else changes. The full fact sheet, as it appears in the official post:
| Character | In addition to the katana | Ultimate ability | Kill chain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atsu (default) | two katanas, the metsubushi (blinding powder) and a blinding bomb | Call of the Pack — summons two wolves to strike down nearby enemies | Onryō's Howl — terrifies nearby foes and forces one to flee |
| Oyuki | kusarigama, kunai, tanegashima (a rifle) | Shadow Assassin — releases smoke to quickly kill two nearby enemies | Shadow Shinobi — summons a Nine-Tails ally for a limited time |
| Nagato | yari (spear), tanzutsu (pistol), yumi (longbow), hankyu (shortbow) | Mark of Chance — targets two enemies and fires a guaranteed headshot at each | Rushing Arrow — recharges focus and grants an explosive arrow |
| Jin Sakai | katana and his four stances from Ghost of Tsushima, sticky bomb, hankyu | Dance of Wrath — targets several enemies to disarm them | Ghost Stance — terrorizes those nearby and kills several opponents at once |
The parenthetical glosses are Sony's, not ours: it's the post itself that writes "the tanegashima (a rifle)," "his yari (a spear)," or "his hankyu (a shortbow)." None of these weapon names are translated in the French version.
Atsu and Oyuki: the pack versus the shadow
Atsu is the only character available from the start. She arrives with two katanas and two ghost tools whose functions overlap: the metsubushi, glossed as "blinding powder," and a blinding bomb. Sucker Punch names them separately without saying what sets them apart: not range, not duration, not charge count.
Her ultimate Call of the Pack summons two wolves. Her chain skill Onryō's Howl, meanwhile, doesn't harm anyone: it terrifies and sends an opponent fleeing — a disengagement tool in the middle of a wave rather than a damage tool, but that's our reading; the publisher doesn't qualify the ability.

Oyuki covers three ranges with three distinct weapons: the kusarigama in melee, the kunai as a thrown weapon, and the tanegashima at range. Her ultimate Shadow Assassin "releases smoke" to chain two close-range kills; her chain skill Shadow Shinobi summons a Nine-Tails ally who "carries out its own assassinations" for a limited time.
One nuance is worth pointing out: the only two characters who summon allies do so at different tiers of their kit — for Atsu it's the ultimate ability, for Oyuki the kill chain. Yet a chain builds up from successive kills while an ultimate charges differently, and Sucker Punch describes neither gauge. The reinforcements will therefore likely not arrive in the same situations: that's our inference, not published data.
Nagato and Jin Sakai: reach versus disarmament
Nagato is the best equipped on paper: four weapons in addition to the katana, when the others have two or three — this is our own count, not a claim from the studio. He is above all the only one to carry two bows, a long one and a short one. His ultimate Mark of Chance targets two enemies and inflicts on them "a guaranteed headshot," without the post specifying which weapon delivers the shot. His chain skill Impetuous Arrow "recharges his focus" and grants an explosive arrow: the only one of the four that restores a resource rather than summoning or terrifying.
Nagato is no stranger: the same post presents him as "a key character" from Atsu's past, who fought alongside her at the Battle of Sekigahara, and as a man wanted by the Vipers in Echoes of Sekigahara. He is playable in that mode and serves as the narrative backbone of the expansion.
Jin Sakai, finally, brings back a mechanic the post is careful to date: "his four original stances from Ghost of Tsushima, to best exploit enemy weaknesses." None of the other three characters are credited with stances in Sucker Punch's text. His ultimate Dance of Wrath, also inherited from the 2020 game, disarms several enemies instead of killing them; his chain skill Ghost Stance takes down "a number of them in one blow," a figure the studio does not specify anywhere.
Price: €69.99, not €79.99, without Sony flagging the change
Sony contradicted itself from one post to the next. On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, on this same French blog, the publisher wrote: "you can buy the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition for €79.99." On September 3, the announced price is "€69.99," with no line mentioning a discount or a correction. We had reported €79.99 on August 13: it is the September 3 figure that now stands.
| Offer | Price announced on September 3 | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade to the Complete Edition (game already owned) | €14.99 | Enemy Public and Echoes of Sekigahara on October 1, plus the content of the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Hokkyokusei charm |
| Complete Edition, digital version | €69.99 | The original game, Legends, the Deluxe content, the Hokkyokusei charm, then Enemy Public and Echoes of Sekigahara upon their release |
| Complete Edition, physical version | not disclosed | Releasing October 1, 2026 |
Impossible to settle the matter on the French PS Store: the product page, the search results, and the concept page all return a broken listing without a single occurrence of the € sign, with pricing content loaded via JavaScript. Checked on Friday, September 4, 2026. The only readable French price remains the one from the blog.
One deadline, finally, not to be confused with the release date: buying or pre-ordering the digital version before September 30 grants "an early unlock of the Sakai armor for Atsu," "without having to unlock it beforehand by playing the Enemy Public mode." The bonus therefore dresses Atsu, not Jin.
In practice
What the September 3 post really delivers are four clearly defined profiles: Atsu controls the crowd with her wolves and fear, Oyuki eliminates isolated targets and splits herself in two, Nagato holds the distance with two bows and a pistol, Jin Sakai disarms. Everything else — damage, cooldowns, mon costs, number of bounties and waves — remains unpublished.
Two dates to remember, which don't serve the same purpose. September 30, 2026 closes the bonus window, the Sakai armor for Atsu. October 1, 2026 opens the mode via the 2.0 update — the footnote specifies "October 2, 2026 in certain territories, including Asia, Australia and New Zealand", and reminds that an Internet connection and a PlayStation account are required.
What remains is the trade-off: €14.99 for the upgrade if you already own the game, €69.99 for the digital Complete Edition otherwise — the figure from September 3, not the higher one that Sony had published three weeks earlier.
