Mistfall Hunter: PvP and PvE class tier list

In brief

Mistfall Hunter offers remarkably tight class balance: every role works, but certain classes dominate depending on the context. Our tier list breaks down Sorcerer and Withered Knight in S tier, Mercenary and Black Arrow in A tier, and Shadow Stryge in B tier, analyzing their strengths in team PvP, solo duels, and PvE.

Mistfall Hunter relies on a remarkably balanced combat system. In practice, each class effectively fulfills its intended role, and the power gaps remain minimal - the Withered Knight, once deemed too strong, was in fact rebalanced right away to fall back in line. Still, some classes fare better than others depending on the context. Here is our ranking, based on performance in solo fights, team fights (PvP), and during PvE encounters.

S Rank

Sorcerer

Many players underestimate the Sorcerer, wrongly so. In a team, its Stardust Magic school offers some of the best area-of-effect (AoE) attacks in the game: it blocks projectiles, locks down narrow passages, and deals heavy damage with spells like Stardust Torrent. In solo play, it can win against any class as long as it keeps its distance: the Windcraft spell pushes attackers back, and just a few seconds are then enough to melt their HP. In PvE, it handles groups of enemies with ease (stunning, grouping, clearing); its only weakness is crowd control, which is useless against bosses and elites.

Withered Knight

Equipped with the two-handed sword, it plays almost like the Mercenary, with the added ability to pull enemies in using Thorn Guide. But it's its versatility that puts it in S rank: it deals heavy damage while controlling the battlefield, without ever sacrificing its offense to support its allies. In solo play, it applies pressure and blocks incoming hits, making it able to compete with every class - provided you make use of its dash abilities to engage and disengage freely. In PvE, its dodges and shield bashes are enough to get through most of the content, whether alone or in a group.

A Rank

Mercenary

A pure melee fighter, the Mercenary is built to kill, and nothing else. In a team, the right approach is to target a player and eliminate them as quickly as possible; if it fails and the fight drags on, it becomes a liability for its side, since it brings nothing but damage - hence its A rank placement. In solo play, it has the best melee attacks in the game and remains the favorite in any duel, thanks to its relentless charges, high resistance, and Super Armor. In PvE, its slow but devastating attacks simply make it the best class.

Blackarrow

In a team, it's a double-edged sword: Blackarrow shreds enemies from range and dictates the fight thanks to its many crowd-control arrows, but becomes helpless as soon as a Shadowstrix or a Mercenary hunts it down, until it breaks free or an ally steps in. In solo play, it dominates the Sorcerer and the Seer but struggles against the rest: keep your distance and place your traps well. In PvE, its arsenal of traps and crowd control makes it a very valuable class.

Seer

In a team, the Seer is an excellent support: it controls the battlefield with its constructs, hands out buffs, debuffs, and heals, and punishes enemies who venture too far. On the other hand, it brings almost no DPS. In solo play, it struggles: simply staying out of range is enough to neutralize it - so it's better avoided in this mode. In PvE, since monsters don't leave its zones, it regains its full value, especially against bosses, where its heals and shields work wonders.

B Rank

Shadowstrix

Shadowstrix suffers from the same limitations as the Mercenary, without its survivability. In a team, about all it can do is go into stealth mode to hunt down a fragile target; if it misses or an ally protects them, it has to fall back and wait for its stealth to come back, giving the opponent time to react. A pure damage class, then, but a limited one. In solo play, on the other hand, it shines thanks to its ambushes, which give it a head start in almost every confrontation, especially against fragile targets. In PvE, its lack of survivability holds it back; its stuns help, but remain ineffective against bosses, so it's best reserved for team play.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best pick for getting started in team PvP?
The S-tier Sorcerer is your ally: their AoE handles clumped enemies, they block projectiles, and they deal consistent damage without any heavy mechanics. The Withered Knight also works, but requires more dash skill for engagements.
Is the Mercenary worth it in team play?
Honestly, not really. They only shine if you can eliminate your target within a few seconds; otherwise, you become dead weight with no defensive or support contribution. It's a fragile weapon.
Why is Black Arrow limited despite her traps?
Because she becomes powerless as soon as a Stryge or a Mercenary closes in for melee. Her traps and control shine at range, but she has no reliable escape if you can't create distance.
Can the Prophet be played solo?
No, avoid it entirely. All an enemy has to do is stay out of range to completely neutralize them. Their real strength lies in team play and PvE, where monsters stay within their control zones.
What's the best pick for PvE?
The Mercenary, with their slow devastating attacks, followed by the Sorcerer for groups. The Withered Knight and the Prophet also do very well, depending on your playstyle.

Key takeaways

  • The Sorcerer crushes in team fights with monstrous AoE and perfectly controls distance in solo play.
  • The Withered Knight blends raw damage and battlefield control without sacrificing one for the other.
  • The Mercenary kills fast but becomes useless if the fight drags on — a double-edged sword.
  • Black Arrow obliterates at range but collapses if an agile target catches up to her.
  • The Shadow Stryge shines in solo ambushes but lacks the survivability to hold up in team fights.
