Mistfall Hunter: the guide to a successful extraction

In Mistfall Hunter, extraction is arguably the most important mechanic to master. In the hostile expanses of Gylden, dying mid-match means losing all the loot you've gathered - rare weapons, armor and materials included. To get out safe and sound, you need to reach an extraction point, eliminate the threats around it, then summon a creature capable of bringing you back. Here's the detailed process.

Standard extraction, step by step

Once your match is underway, wait for an extraction point to become available. These points appear randomly on the map and are tied to a timer that counts down until they activate.

1. As soon as a point is ready, mark it as a waypoint on the map and head there.
2. Once on site, interact with the bell. An orb of light then drops a small blue portal somewhere on the map, also tied to a timer. Good news: this portal is visible through walls, which makes navigating to it easier.
3. When the portal's timer hits zero, a wooden creature appears there. Take it down quickly: a head then forms and summons the Soul Tree. Tip: throw a fire pot at the portal to start damaging the creature as soon as it appears.
4. All that's left is to interact with the Soul Tree: your character is slowly pulled into the vortex, and the extraction is confirmed.

Dangers to watch out for

The operation sounds simple, but several risks complicate it:

• nearby players receive a notification that an extraction is underway;
• you may have to cross areas swarming with enemies to reach the portal, potentially fighting a few battles along the way;
• if you don't reach the creature in time, the whole extraction process has to start over.

Quest-based extraction points

Some extraction points only activate after you complete a small side quest in the field. It's marked by a blue exclamation point on the map: finish it to unlock access to that exit point.

The backup extraction

There's a third option, reserved for desperate situations. A Smuggler Woodling appears randomly on the map and lets you leave the match with only the gear you're wearing and a few selected items. Be careful: its slots are limited and work on a first-come, first-served basis. But most importantly, you lose everything else in your loot. Handy as a last resort, but rarely the best choice.
