Apex Legends Advanced Tracker: what the badges give away for free, what the collection costs, and the September 8th cutoff

In brief

Apex Legends is running the Advanced Hunt event until September 8 with two separate tracks: badges are earned for free by playing and can only be exchanged at the rewards store, while the skin collection is purchased with Apex Coins or Crafting Metals. Respawn has released few official details, forcing players to check prices directly in-game before spending their resources.

The Advanced Hunt event in Apex Legends has been open since Tuesday, August 18, and closes on Tuesday, September 8. As of Thursday, August 20, there are nineteen days left to get something out of it. But you first need to know that there isn't one, but two separate tracks, which Respawn never mixes together.

On one side, an event currency, marks, which is earned by playing and can only be spent in one place: the Advanced Hunt rewards shop. On the other, the Advanced Hunt collection, which is purchased in the Store tab or tried for at random in event packs. Marks don't unlock the collection, and money doesn't unlock the rewards shop.

The free track: marks, and the only shop that accepts them

The announced mechanic works in two steps: marks accumulate by playing throughout the event, then get spent in the Advanced Hunt rewards shop. Three rewards are named there, and they are the only ones:

  • an Epic skin for Mad Maggie;
  • a new banner image;
  • event packs.

The French announcement does indeed write "a new banner image", not a frame or a badge. However, it doesn't say how marks are obtained. The screenshot attached to the announcement indicates it, but in English: Respawn only released the English-language version of this visual, including on its French page. The interface displays "Earn marks through daily event challenges to unlock rewards", meaning earnings tied to daily event challenges. The French wording for these challenges appears nowhere in the press release: the in-game EVENT panel is the only up-to-date reference.

What the official screenshots show about the pricing, and why you shouldn't trust the exact figures

Respawn has released two screenshots of this shop, and they share the same layout: on the left, a grid of items purchasable individually with marks; on the right, a track of four tiers that unlock not upon purchase, but through the cumulative total of marks earned since the start of the event. This is the only thing these images establish with certainty, and it's a structural point: earning marks advances the tiers even when they aren't spent.

For everything else, caution is warranted: the two screenshots don't show the same content. The number of slots is identical, but the items on offer differ, their prices in marks differ, and the countdown timer isn't the same from one image to the other. The individual-item offer is therefore not fixed for twenty-two days.

Practical consequence: Respawn has not published any pricing scale — neither the cost of each item, nor the number of marks a challenge yields, nor the threshold for the four tiers. The tables circulating online are player-recorded snapshots of a shop state that may have since changed. Check the prices displayed in your client before spending.

The paid track: the Advanced Hunt collection, 1,800 or 2,400 per skin

The other half of the event isn't earned, it's bought. The Advanced Hunt collection is available "in the Store tab or as potential loot in eligible event packs," from August 18 to September 8: the same window as the rewards store.

The event brings 24 new cosmetic items, of which Respawn only names twelve: six legendary Legend skins, for Valkyrie, Conduit, Wraith, Alter, Lifeline, and Horizon, and six weapon skins, for the R-301, the Havoc, the Alternator, the L-STAR, the Bocek, and the 30-30 Repeater.

The official visual for these six skins displays their price, the only concrete pricing information Respawn has published about the event. A single price for all six: 1,800 Apex Coins or 2,400 Crafting Metals.

The left-hand column stays in English for lack of a better option: the French names of these six skins appear nowhere in the announcement, nor do those of the two currencies, which are published under their English labels only. You have to go read them in the client.

The important point for anyone counting their resources: this 1,800 is not Crafting Metals earned through Hunt Marks. No amount of marks directly buys a skin from the collection.

Event packs, the only bridge between the two circuits

There is nonetheless one crossing point between the two, and only one. Event packs appear on both sides: they are among the rewards listed in the rewards store, and thus obtainable with marks, and they are also the random source of items from the collection. In theory, a player who spends nothing could therefore stumble onto a piece of the collection by opening a pack paid for with marks.

Two caveats, and they carry real weight. Respawn writes "eligible event packs" without defining that eligibility: nothing guarantees that packs obtained with marks fall into this category, and no drop rate has been published. This bridge exists on paper; don't build your three weeks around it.

Then there's the most heavily promoted piece, Gibraltar's golden Prestige skin, "Comrade Apex." Respawn pairs it with a custom finisher, as well as a dedicated jump smoke. But the publisher publishes neither how to obtain it nor its price, and does not explicitly attach it to either circuit.

Farming marks: no, the Mixtape mode maps didn't change on August 18

The announcement states: "the Mixtape mode map rotation welcomes Kings Canyon, E-District, and Broken Moon." Under a subheading inviting players to "explore new hunting grounds," the sentence gives the impression of a change on August 18. It isn't one.

The French patch notes for Season 30 "Manhunt" already plan, in black and white, the Mixtape rotation from 08/04/26 to 09/15/26, with these exact three maps: Mixtape Kings Canyon, Mixtape E-District, and Mixtape Broken Moon. These are the ones you've been playing since August 4th. Nothing was added or removed on August 18th.

For anyone looking to farm, this is rather good news: no map to urgently learn. Note, however, the calendar shift, which is real: the Mixtape rotation runs until September 15, one week after Manhunt Advanced ends. The mode outlives the event; the tokens don't.

One rule governs these matches: Mixtape slots open up as the match progresses. Survival therefore matters twice: it solidifies your late game and gives you more minutes to cycle through the challenges that fuel your tokens. We already detailed on August 15th the choice of the six Mixtapes buffed by the EVO; we won't go over that again here.

The calendar: two deadlines, one single date

Both tracks close on the same day: no catch-up window to spend tokens afterward, no extension for the collection.

Respawn does not communicate any switchover time for September 8th: don't aim for the last evening, the announcement gives nothing more precise than the date.

What to prioritize before September 8th

  1. Open the EVENT tab before playing. Rewards shop, token counter, and the list of challenges are all gathered there, with the only up-to-date prices.
  2. Do the daily challenges first. This is the token-earning channel indicated by the interface, and a missed daily can't be made up: over nineteen days, every skipped day is a flat loss.
  3. Grab what's explicitly free first. The Mad Maggie epic skin and the banner image are the only two cosmetics guaranteed behind tokens: secure them before deciding on the packs.
  4. Don't spend your tokens based on a third-party chart. The individual item offer changes during the event, as shown by the two official screenshots.
  5. For a specific skin from the collection, go through the Shop tab. That's the only deterministic way to get it; packs remain a draw with no published odds.
  6. Don't rush for the maps. The three Mixtape maps hold until September 15th: it's the only element that doesn't disappear on the 8th.

In summary: the free content fits in three official lines, the paid content in a single price of 1,800, and everything else — token scale, tier thresholds, pack odds — is not published. Play with the numbers displayed in your client.

Frequently asked questions

How are badges earned?
Badges are accumulated by completing the daily challenges of the Advanced Hunt event. No official details on the exact number of badges per challenge have been released by Respawn.
Can I buy a collection skin with badges?
No, that's not possible. Legendary skins can only be purchased with Apex Coins or Crafting Metals. Badges unlock the rewards store, which offers an epic skin for Mad Maggie, banners, and event packs.
What is Gibraltar's 'Apex Comrade' Prestige skin?
Respawn has featured it but hasn't specified its price or how to obtain it. It includes a custom finisher and a dedicated jump smoke, but how to acquire it remains unclear.
Is there a catch-up period after September 8?
No, both tracks close on September 8 with no extension. Unspent badges and unpurchased items disappear, no second chance.
Do event packs obtained with badges contain collection items?
Theoretically yes, since the packs appear in both places. However, Respawn doesn't specify which packs are 'eligible' or their drop rate, so this bridge is shaky on paper.

Key takeaways

  • Badges and the collection are two incompatible currencies: badges don't unlock the collection, and money doesn't grant access to the free store.
  • The six legendary skins cost 1,800 Apex Coins or 2,400 Crafting Metals each, no official badge price has been published.
  • Respawn hasn't communicated the exact badge prices, tier thresholds, or challenge rewards, so the tables circulating online may be outdated.
  • Event packs are the only bridge between the two tracks, but their eligibility and drop rates remain unclear.
  • The Joker rotation didn't change on August 18, you're already playing on the three maps set since August 4.
