Horizon
Born in 2017 with Horizon Zero Dawn, Guerrilla Games' series sets its action-RPG in a post-apocalyptic world where robotic machines have replaced animal wildlife. It follows Aloy, a hunter rejected by her tribe, who takes down mechanical creatures to understand the collapse of the civilization that preceded her.
The second installment, Forbidden West, pushed the formula toward the American West in 2022, followed by a virtual reality episode and a remaster of the first game. Sony has made Horizon one of its most profitable in-house franchises, to the point of attempting to expand it into multiplayer with Horizon Hunters Gathering.
