Innisgreen, an enchanting island with an Irish flavor

The new world opened up by the pack is called Innisgreen. Lush, misty and dotted with standing stones, it openly draws on the Irish countryside, its fairy folklore and its Celtic legends. The island is divided into three neighborhoods, each with its own identity:

  • Adhmor's Coast — a colorful coastal village whose name means "coast of luck" in Gaelic. Here you'll find the giant lucky Gnome, the GNOME exhibition and the wreck of the Callyoch, a nod to the Titanic built nearby.
  • Sprucederry Grove — a rural hamlet where shops, cottages and ivy blend into nature. It's the best spot to gather apothecary ingredients and meet Spruce the All-Powerful, the garden Gnome worshipped by the locals.
  • Everdew — the enchanted forest, epicenter of Fairy life. Here you'll find the Fairy Council, the lunar spring of Moon Spring and numerous fairy circles suited for rituals.

In total, around fifteen residential and community lots come with the expansion, plus several unbuildable public spaces (apothecary shops, bookstores, bars). Overall, it includes 181 Create a Sim items and 163 Build/Buy Mode items.

Becoming a Fairy: the encounter with Mother Nature

Unlike the Vampire (bite) or the Spellcaster (grandmother's library), the transformation into a Fairy involves an entirely new ritual. Here are the steps:

  1. Obtain a Magic Seed. You can get one by foraging in the forest, by asking an already-transformed Fairy Sim for one, or by completing the tale "Rise and Shine" near a fairy circle.
  2. Plant the seed in a fairy circle to summon Mother Nature, the mystical guardian of Innisgreen.
  3. Use the social interaction "Ask for Mother Nature's Charm." She offers a potion.
  4. Drink the potion, then head to Moon Spring in the Everdew neighborhood for a moon bath. Upon exiting, the Sim's wings unfurl.

Creation is then entirely free in CAS (Create a Sim): wing shapes, hand-painted patterns, pointed ears, teeth, iridescent skin tones, fairy headpieces and, above all, gorgeous glowing tattoos that light up at night.

Tip: always keep a Magic Seed in reserve in your inventory. They grow slowly and are useful both for transforming a household member and for giving as gifts that greatly boost friendship with Everdew's NPCs.

Fairy gameplay: powers, emotional strength and pixie dust

The Fairies shake up the rules of the occult by removing two fundamental needs: no more hunger or bladder. In their place, a new need appears: Emotional Strength. Fairies literally feed on the emotions of other Sims. Two brand-new deaths result from this:

  • Death by emotional starvation if the meter drops to zero (the Sim hasn't absorbed anything for too long).
  • Death by emotional overload if the Sim absorbs emotions that are too intense without releasing them.

To manage this, Fairies can bottle emotions into emotional stones, store them and consume them at will. A system that is both poetic and strategic, encouraging interaction with the neighborhood.

Powers are divided into four skill trees that can be improved with aptitude points:

  • Manipulation Magic — inflict or cure illnesses, animate Garden Gnomes, force another Sim to age.
  • Emotional Magic — alter moods, extract or instill feelings, change relationships and memories.
  • Nature Magic — enchant crops, create seeds out of nothing, and above all turn other Sims into Fairies.
  • Personalization — a passive tree that improves aesthetic appearance and flying abilities.

Alongside these powers, Fairy Dust is a universal resource that even non-Fairy Sims can use. It's used to boost plants, temporarily animate Gnomes, unlock cheeky interactions with objects, and play good pranks on the neighborhood.

Two paths for your Fairies: harmonious or discordant

Much like vampire allegiances or the rivalry between rational Spellcasters and incantation-based ones, Enchanted by Nature offers two moral paths that influence available interactions and how the neighborhood perceives you:

  • The Harmonious Fairy — protects the ecosystem, heals sick plants, eases tensions, and earns the favor of the Everdew Fairy Council.
  • The Discordant Fairy — sows discord, poisons neighboring gardens, causes ailments, and plays the trickster. Shunned by the Council, but rewarded with more offensive powers.

These paths aren't set in stone: a Sim can switch from one side to the other depending on their actions. The "Fairy Tales" aspiration lets you follow one path or the other, which encourages multiple playthroughs to unlock everything.

Apothecary, herbalism, and curing ailments

The second pillar of the pack: a return to nature, healing edition. A new skill, Naturalist Living, lets any Sim satisfy their needs outdoors: sleeping on a bed of moss, washing in a river, eating what they forage. It comes with an Apothecary skill from level 1 to 10 that unlocks the table of the same name.

With this table, Sims create elixirs capable of curing eight new ailments introduced by the pack: swamp colds, fairy burns, minor curses, and so on. The remedies use plants gathered in Innisgreen and can even be sold at a community shop.

Tip: combine the Apothecary skill with regular Gardening. Higher-quality harvests increase the potency of elixirs and let you sell your bottles for more at the Sprucederry Grove market.

Aspirations, career, and new traits

The pack adds three aspirations and one semi-active career:

  • Fairy Tales — the signature aspiration to embody a Harmonious or Discordant Fairy.
  • Nature Nomad — live entirely in the wilderness without modern comforts.
  • Elixir Enthusiast — become a master of apothecary craft.
  • Naturopath — new at-home career where your Sim receives patients, diagnoses their ailments and sells remedies. It's one of the few fully playable careers in the game, in the vein of Detective or Doctor.

On the personality side, three new traits make their appearance: Plant Lover, Mystical and Disruptive. Finally, the free update that accompanied the pack introduced versatile pots, finally allowing any plant to be grown indoors, on tables or shelves — an addition the community had been requesting for years.

Fairy vs Vampire, Spellcaster and Mermaid: which occult should you choose?

With the arrival of Fairies, The Sims 4 now has four major occults (not counting Aliens and Werewolves). Each has a strong identity:

  • Vampire (Vampires, 2017) — sunlight management, blood powers, mandatory weakness tree, very nocturnal and dark gameplay.
  • Mermaid (Island Living, 2019) — ocean-oriented gameplay and marine exploration, limited powers but unique aesthetic.
  • Spellcaster (Realm of Magic, 2019) — complex spells, potions, familiars, portals to a dedicated realm.
  • Fairy (Enchanted by Nature, 2025) — no hunger or bladder needs, powers focused on emotions and nature, strong social interaction, moral paths.

Fairies are clearly the most social and community-oriented occult: where the Vampire isolates itself and the Spellcaster studies, the Fairy must constantly interact to survive. It's also the only one that so thoroughly overhauls basic needs, making it a radically different gameplay experience.

Verdict: should you get Enchanted by Nature?

With a gorgeous world, a brand-new occult system and two well-integrated skills, Enchanted by Nature ranks among the top Sims 4 expansion packs. The comparison with Realm of Magic and Vampires is flattering: the pack is aimed as much at long-time players as at newcomers drawn in by the fantasy theme. The only recurring criticism from the community: ailments can become repetitive and the Fairy Council remains underused on the narrative quest side.

Frequently asked questions

How exactly do you turn a Sim into a Fairy?
You need to obtain a Magic Seed (by gathering one or getting it from an existing Fairy), plant it in a fairy ring to summon Mother Nature, accept her charm which grants a potion, then drink the potion and bathe at Moonwood Mill in the Everdew neighborhood. Wings then unfurl and you gain access to full customization in CAS.
What's the difference between a harmonious Fairy and a discordant Fairy?
Harmonious Fairies protect the ecosystem, heal plants, and earn the favor of the Everdew Fairy Council with defensive powers. Discordant Fairies sow chaos, poison gardens, and possess more powerful offensive abilities, but are shunned by the Council. Neither path is set in stone, and you can switch depending on your actions.
Can Fairies die, and how?
Yes, two new forms of death exist: death by emotional starvation if the Emotional Strength meter drops to zero, and death by emotional overload if the Sim absorbs feelings too intense to release. You can manage this by bottling emotions into emotion stones.
Do you need prior skills to start the apothecary gameplay?
No, Apothecary is a new standalone skill that goes from 1 to 10 and unlocks the apothecary table of the same name. However, combining this skill with classic Gardening increases the potency of elixirs and your revenue if you sell the remedies.
Is Innisgreen an open world like Brindleton Bay or a traditional world?
Innisgreen works like a traditional world with three explorable neighborhoods: Adhmor Coast (coastal village), Sprucederry Grove (rural hamlet), and Everdew (enchanted forest). It features around fifteen residential and community lots, plus several non-buildable public spaces such as apothecary shops.

Key takeaways

  • Fairies no longer need to eat or drink, but instead feed on the emotions of other Sims through an Emotional Strength system that can kill you.
  • Transforming into a Fairy involves an original ritual: a magic seed, summoning Mother Nature, a potion, and a moonlit bath at Moonwood Mill.
  • Innisgreen is divided into three neighborhoods with distinct identities (coast, hamlet, forest) and offers around fifteen residential lots to unleash your creativity.
  • Two moral paths (harmonious or discordant) offer radically different powers and interactions, encouraging replayability.
  • The apothecary and the Naturopath career round out the gameplay with entirely new, sellable healing mechanics.
