In brief

EA is launching two paid kits for The Sims 4 on August 27, 2026: the Mean Girls Capsule Collection and the Clueless Capsule Collection, each priced at $3.99 (euro price not confirmed). This content leans on the respective styles of the 2000s and 1990s, with mostly clothing and two decoration items. EA's French page omits three key pieces of information: the price, the detailed content breakdown, and Mac compatibility.

EA announced on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, two paid content packs for The Sims 4: the Mean Girls Capsule Collection Kit and the Clueless Capsule Collection Kit. Both launch on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in six days. They will be sold on three PC and Mac storefronts (EA app, Epic Games Store, Steam) and on four console platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The base game, which is free, is required.

EA's English press release contains two pieces of information that the French page does not include. First, each kit will be sold for $3.99. Second, its content will be mostly made up of Create a Sim items, along with two Build/Buy items. No euro price has been published, and as of the time of writing, this Friday, August 21, no product page has yet been listed on the Steam store for either kit.

This guide sorts out what's confirmed, what only exists in English, and what EA hasn't said at all: the release time, the exact number of outfits, the price in euros, and whether a bundle deal exists.

What EA confirmed on August 18

Here is everything that is official as of today. Anything not listed in this table is, for now, mere speculation.

A word on names, because confusion has already set in. The official French label is indeed kit Collection capsule Mean Girls and kit Collection capsule Clueless, or, in long form, Les Sims 4 Collection capsule Mean Girls. EA France keeps the English titles of both films and has not published any French title: don't expect a different name in stores on August 27.

Mean Girls Capsule Collection: what's been shown

EA describes this kit as a collection of 2000s-era styles. The pieces specifically named in the French press release are as follows:

  • a mini skirt and sweater set;
  • a matching festive hat, shown for the caroling scene;
  • the Mathletes team jacket;
  • a velour tracksuit set, which EA associates with the "cool mom" figure;
  • additional color swatches, to customize these outfits.

EA frames the whole thing around North Shore High, a name kept in English in the French version of the press release, and also quotes "Regina George and The Plastics" without translating it either. The movie's lines, on the other hand, are reproduced in their dubbed version: "C'est tellement shionf", "T'es trop beau, Glenn Coco !" and "le mercredi, c'est tenue rose obligatoire" appear as such on the French page.

What this list doesn't say: how many outfits in total, how many color swatches per item, and what the two Build/Buy objects announced in the English version actually are. Neither of these two objects has been described or shown.

Clueless capsule collection: what has been shown

The second kit is 90s-oriented. The official list is a bit shorter:

  • Cher's iconic plaid outfit;
  • layered tops;
  • button-up skirts;
  • sportswear;
  • overalls inspired by Tai's style.

EA emphasizes coordinating outfits across multiple Sims, which the official visual illustrates with three characters in plaid. The phrase "Ugh, hors de question !" serves as a section title on the French page. Here again, neither the item count nor the nature of the two Build/Buy objects is specified.

The price: $3.99 announced, nothing in euros

This is the point that needs the most clarity, because several sites have already converted the amount. EA has not published any price in euros. The only official figure is the $3.99 listed on the English page. Any euro amount circulating today is a conversion made by a third party, not a price announced by the publisher.

What we can do, however, is place this new format within the existing pricing structure. Here are the prices actually displayed on the French Steam DLC page, checked this Friday, August 21:

ContentReleaseSteam FR Price
The Sims 4 Legacy and Royalty Expansion PackFebruary 12, 2026€39.99
Lady Bridgerton's Masquerade Style KitMay 14, 2026€6.99
Lady Bridgerton's Ballroom KitMay 14, 2026€6.99
Music Studio Kit + 200 moolaJuly 23, 2026€4.99
Courtyard Oasis KitFebruary 26, 2026€4.99
Wonderland Playroom KitFebruary 26, 2026€4.99
Sun-Kissed Tea KitFebruary 12, 2026€4.99
Classic Movie Stars KitFebruary 12, 2026€4.99
Dream Plains KitDecember 11, 2025€4.99
SpongeBob SquarePants Kids' Room KitDecember 4, 2025€4.99

These amounts are reference points, not a forecast. They simply show that the Standard Kit sells for €4.99 and that the two licensed Lady Bridgerton kits went up to €6.99. Measured against the announced $3.99, the "Capsule Collection" therefore comes across as a tier below the classic Kit, which is consistent with content that EA describes as essentially made up of clothing and just two objects. Still, until a store listing goes live, no one can confirm the amount that will actually be charged in the eurozone.

Three pieces of information the French page doesn't give

The French version of the press release is not a full translation of the English version. Three elements disappeared along the way, and they're not minor details.

  • The price. The English summary announces "$3.99" as early as its second line. The French summary stops at the date and the styles.
  • The content breakdown. The sentence describing content that is mostly Create a Sim items plus two Build/Buy objects only exists in the English version. A French-speaking reader who relies solely on the EA France page has no way of knowing that they're not buying an object kit.
  • The Mac. The closing paragraph in English mentions "PC and Mac". The French paragraph only mentions PC. There's no indication of an exclusion: the mention of Mac simply got dropped in translation, with the English version being the authoritative one.

If you play on Mac, or if you want to know exactly what you're paying for, the page to check is therefore the English version, not the French one.

What EA hasn't said at all

Beyond the translation issue, several points remain open six days before release.

  • The time. No release time has been given, whether in Paris time or any other time zone. No point watching the store at midnight.
  • The count. Neither the number of outfits, nor the number of color swatches, nor the nature of the two Build/Buy objects in each kit.
  • The bundle. EA presents two separate products and announces no discounted bundle for those who pick up both.
  • The purchase method. EA mentions the usual storefronts and console stores, but says nothing about a possible listing on the in-game marketplace, nor about a price in Simoleons.
  • The body shapes and ages covered in Create a Sim: the press release doesn't say a word about it.

On the update front, nothing is planned either. The latest patch note published on Steam is the July Patch Update from August 6, 2026, and no fix has come out since. If a patch is accompanying the August 27 release, it hasn't been announced yet.

To do by Thursday, August 27

The steps to follow come down to four points.

  1. Make sure your base game is up to date. Both kits require The Sims 4 with all of its updates. The latest patch dates back to August 6.
  2. Don't buy Simoleons in advance. There's nothing to indicate these kits will go through the in-game store, and in-game currency isn't refundable.
  3. Wait for the store listing to find out the price. The amount in euros won't appear until it goes live, on Steam, the EA app, the Epic Games Store, or your console's store.
  4. Sort through your custom content. Outfits inspired by these two films have been widely covered by custom content for years: check what you already have installed before paying for the official equivalent.

Next confirmed deadline: Thursday, August 27, 2026. Until then, the only authoritative source remains EA's news page, and its English version in case of doubt about the price or content.

Frequently asked questions

What will the euro price be for these two kits?
EA hasn't announced any euro pricing, only $3.99 on the English page. Sites that do conversions are making estimates, not official pricing. We'll have to wait for the Steam listing or the EA app on August 27 to know the amount charged in the euro zone, likely around €3.99 based on comparable kits.
How many outfits exactly are in each kit?
EA hasn't published any official count. Mean Girls features a mini-skirt and sweater set, a festive hat, a Mathletes jacket, velour sweatpants plus color variants. Clueless offers a plaid set, layered tops, button-front skirts, and overalls. The total number remains unknown.
Will these kits release on Mac or only on PC?
Mac compatibility does exist: the English page explicitly mentions "PC and Mac." The French page doesn't mention it, which is a translation omission, not an exclusion. You can play on Mac and purchase these kits.
What time will they be available on August 27?
EA hasn't published a release time, whether in Paris time or any other time zone. There's no way to know if you'll be able to buy them at midnight, in the morning, or in the afternoon.
Is there a discount if I buy both kits together?
No, no bundle deal has been announced. The two kits are sold separately at the same price, with no combined promotion communicated at this time.

Key takeaways

  • Content mainly made up of 2000s and 1990s clothing with two Build/Buy items each, no exact count communicated
  • The EA France page is incomplete: it omits Mac compatibility, the price, and the actual content breakdown, unlike the English version
  • No bundle deal announced for the two kits, no Simoleon pricing, no release time published
