In brief

Starry Studio has revealed the drop rates for Once Human's Lumina loot crates, with Ultra appearances showing a brutal 0.01% chance — that's an average of one in 10,000 pulls. The only genuinely achievable goal remains the Lumina Crystal at 7%, guaranteed every 20 openings on crates launched in 2025 and beyond.

Starry Studio republished on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 the rules and the drop rates for the Lightforge Loot Crates in Once Human, updated for the arrival of the console version. This is the only document where the studio spells out in black and white what a rare appearance actually costs — and the numbers are worth reading before converting Crystgin.

The cost of a pull, and the two caps

RuleValue
Cost of one opening1 Lightforge Ingot, "worth 160 Crystgin"
Starting discountThe first 10 purchases of ingots at half price, once per crate theme
Opening cap9,999 per crate, after which it can no longer be opened
Pity (crates launched in 2025 and after)1 guaranteed Lightforge Gem every 20 openings

Three clarifications about the pity system, since it's what determines strategy:

  • pulling a Lightforge Gem resets the counter to zero;
  • so you can get at most one every 20 pulls;
  • but there is no limit on the total number of Lightforge Gems.

This mechanism is specific to crates from 2025 onward. The 2024 crates still run under the old rules: pity every 30 pulls, only one character per account allowed to pull from the same crate, and the pity system disappears once all the Lightforge Collection items have been obtained.

The rates, crate by crate

The Lightforge Gem rate is identical everywhere: 7.00%. What changes from one crate to another is the distribution of collection appearances. Here are the documented crates and their rarest tiers:

CrateRarest TierRateContent
Celestial ReverieMythic0.03%Void Wings Skin: Aether Reverie
Dream TideMythic0.03%Void Wings Skin - Enchanted Butterfly
Eldritch DiademLegendary (ultra gold)0.01%Everlight Sea
Ravenous GearUltra0.01%Vehicle Skin - Voidstar
Celestial ReverieUltra0.08%Cloudrest Fantasy, Woven Radiance and its two variants
Crimson AscentLegendary0.60%Rift Racer, Crimson Night Banquet Set, Celestial Phoenix's Call…
Vipers Lunge / Zero OvertureLegendary0.50%Night Stalker Set / Zero Overture Set
Eldritch DiademLegendary0.49%Abyssal Touch Set, The Eye of Devouring…
Blooming Vows / Celestial ReverieLegendary0.34%Oathbound Dream Set / Stormy Verdict - M416
Aureate Gala / Ravenous GearLegendary0.31%Stellar Elite Outfit / Bloodthirsty Mecha Set
Celestial Anthem / Desert OracleLegendary0.22 – 0.23%Cosmic Hymn Set / Dune Oracle Set
Ember Conclave / Sanzu Beyond / Sacred CarnageLegendary0.23%Fallen Abyss Set / Sanzu Crossings Set / Hymn of the Carnage Set

The rest of the content in each crate is invariably split between 50 to 54% non-collection epics and 38 to 41% rares. In other words: more than nine pulls out of ten yield an item that doesn't belong to the Lightforge Collection.

What these numbers actually mean

A 0.01% rate corresponds, on average, to one item per 10,000 pulls — which is exactly the cap of 9,999 crate openings. The ultra appearances of Eldritch Diadem and Ravenous Gear are therefore not farming goals: they're happy accidents.

The only tier truly attainable through consistent effort is the lumina crystal: a 7% pull rate, and above all guaranteed every 20 openings. This is what grants a selection from the collections rather than a blind pull — the only reliable path to a named piece.

The Redemption Shop, and duplicate refunds

The Redemption Shop offers the appearances from the current crate, along with limited quantities of lumina ingots, colored badges, and other tokens. Two rules to keep in mind:

  • each appearance can only be exchanged once, and not at all if you've already pulled it from a crate;
  • if you exchange a Lightforge Collection item and then pull it again from a crate, the duplicate is converted into the full amount of lumina relics spent on the exchange. So the exchange is never a total loss.

Lightforge Relics, meanwhile, are obtained "by dismantling duplicate appearances" and are used in this very shop.

Vault Returns: up to three at once

The rules for Vault Returns have been rewritten. On the current round:

  1. You first receive one key to take part in the vault of your choice.
  2. For each of the first two vaults you take part in, obtaining a Lightforge Collection item you've never owned before opens up an additional opportunity.
  3. The total is capped at 3 vaults, so 2 bonus keys at most.

The detail that avoids a costly mistake: you can switch vaults freely as long as you haven't pulled, exchanged in the shop, or bought discounted bars on it. The first of these three actions locks in your choice.

Two more points: the first 10 half-price bars are reset for this return round, and guarantee progress is kept if you had already taken part in a vault of the same theme. If it doesn't appear to have carried over, Starry Studio asks that you first log back in with the character that took part, in order to reactivate the sync.

What to remember

  1. 160 Crystgin per pull, half price on the first 10 bars — and this discount resets with each new theme.
  2. 7% lumini crystal everywhere, guaranteed every 20 openings on vaults from 2025 onward.
  3. The mythic (0.03%) and ultra (0.01%) tiers cannot be planned for.
  4. On a return vault, don't touch anything until you're sure of your choice: the first pull locks it in.

The rate breakdown from August 25, 2026 is published in English only. The French terms used here — luminis loot vault, luminis bar, lumini crystal, luminis relic, Lightforge Collection, Crystgin, colored badges — are those from Starry Studio's official French page. Appearance names, however, are not translated by the publisher and are left as is.

Given these drop rates, what's your strategy for the Lumina loot crates?

Frequently asked questions

On average, how many attempts does it take to get an Ultra appearance at 0.01%?
About 10,000 pulls, which is precisely the maximum cap on crate openings. In other words, this kind of appearance can't really be "farmed": either you're lucky very, very early on, or you hit the 9,999 cap without ever getting it.
Does the Lumina Crystal guarantee every 20 pulls apply to the older 2024 crates?
No. The 2024 crates still run on the old system: a guarantee every 30 pulls, only one character allowed per crate, and the guarantee disappears once the Collection is completed. Only crates launched in 2025 and after benefit from the new mechanic.
If I exchange an appearance in the shop and then pull it later, do I lose my relics?
No, not at all. The duplicate is automatically converted into the full amount of Lumina Relics you spent on the exchange — it's a system with no net loss.
Can I switch crates during a Vault Return round before pulling?
Yes, as long as you haven't pulled, exchanged in the shop, or bought discounted ingots yet. The first of these three actions permanently locks in your choice, so think before you act.
Is the Lumina Crystal rate the same across all crates?
Exactly. It's the only rate that never changes: 7% everywhere. What changes is the distribution of collection appearances — Mythic, Legendary, Ultra — from one crate to another.

Key takeaways

  • Ultra and Mythic appearances (0.01% to 0.03%) are lucky accidents, not realistic farming goals.
  • The Lumina Crystal alone offers a true guarantee: 7% on pull, then one every 20 attempts on recent crates.
  • Each pull costs 160 Rock Crystals, with a 50% discount on the first 10 ingots for every new crate theme.
  • Exchanged appearances are never wasted if you later pull them from a crate, thanks to the relic refund.
  • On Vault Returns, your first pull or exchange locks in your crate choice — think it through before making a move.
