Once Human on PS5 and Xbox: the eight pitfalls of the console FAQ — one PSN account per game account, 30 days before unlinking
In brief
Once Human is arriving on PS5 and Xbox with its official FAQ revealing eight immutable rules: a console profile only accepts a single game account, links remain locked for 30 days, regions don't communicate with each other, and Console servers exclude PC. All of these are mistakes that can't be undone, hence the value of knowing these pitfalls before launch.
Starry Studio published its FAQ on Once Human's arrival on consoles on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Thirty-six entries, eight of which describe choices the game won't let you redo: a PSN profile only admits one game account, a link stays locked for a month, regions don't talk to each other, and servers with the Console prefix keep PC out.
We've already covered the August 25 schedule, the client's size, and preloading. This guide takes the same document from the other end: for each of these eight rules, what you lose if you make a mistake. Everything comes from the official FAQ.
A timing note, in passing: the 3.0.3 patch notes, dated August 5, listed 10:00 a.m. Pacific time; the FAQ, which is more recent, states 11:00 a.m., i.e. 8:00 p.m. in France — the Pacific is UTC-7 in August, Paris UTC+2. Between two official documents an hour apart, plan for the later value.
The eight pitfalls, in one table
| The pitfall | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A PSN or Xbox profile only admits one game account (Q14) | No second account can be attached to it later | Decide before Tuesday |
| Linking two populated accounts (Q12) | Only one set of characters survives; the other is abandoned | Link an empty account |
| Unlinking locked for 30 days (Q15) | A failed link leaves you stuck for a month | Double-check the account shown before confirming |
| Only one session at a time (Q16) | Logging in on console closes the session open elsewhere | No sharing an account between two people |
| Regions don't talk to each other (Q19, Q23) | A friend registered elsewhere stays unreachable; your holdings might not carry over | Compare your region before creating a character |
| Servers with the Console prefix are off-limits to PC (Q22) | PC shows the character without being able to play it | Rule them out if you switch between controller and keyboard |
| No PS Plus or Game Pass subscription required (Q5) | The trap runs the other way: paying for access that's already free | Launch the game without subscribing to anything |
| Leaving a scenario moves your stuff (Q26) | Weapons, armor, and Anomalies pass through Eternity | Know the tally before leaving |
A word on the wording. The client does support French — the document lists our language among the ten supported on console — but the publisher has stopped translating its publications since 2025: its language selector only offers four options, English, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese. This FAQ exists only in English, and we're keeping its terms as they are — More Servers, Special Invitation Code, Astral Sand, Resource Inheritance Points — rather than coining names that don't exist in-game.
The account you link, the character you sacrifice
Question 14 asks whether a console profile can hold multiple game accounts. The answer, in one word: no. Question 13, conversely, specifies that a game account isn't tied to any device — the bottleneck is the PlayStation or Xbox profile, not the machine. The symmetrical case, though, is left unaddressed: a single game account linked to both a PSN profile and an Xbox profile. So it remains conditional — if you own both machines, nothing guarantees it will work until the publisher states it in writing.
Question 12 is the most costly of the lot. When each of the two accounts already hosts characters, no merger takes place: only one set survives, the other disappears. The publisher says it has put a safeguard in place against false moves on accounts whose characters go back more than thirty days, without specifying what that consists of: outright refusal, or a warning? The wording remains ambiguous, and a character created ten days ago gets no benefit at all. The instruction, though, is clear: use a blank account.

Thirty days locked, and only one session at a time
Yes, a link can be undone — but not whenever you like. Question 15 requires thirty days to have passed before any separation, for security reasons. Written down like that, it looks like a clause in a contract. Lived through, it's a month on the wrong account, without your characters or your territory.
There is a way out for special cases, through support. The path, as given by the FAQ: in-game menu, Feedback & Customer Support, Bug report, Other bugs. You may be asked to prove the account is yours, and no timeframe is promised. The document doesn't say whether linking a new profile resets the counter; to be safe, assume it does.
Question 16 comes at an even steeper cost: the same account cannot be connected on two platforms at the same time, and the most recent login kicks out the previous one. Starting up on PS5 therefore cuts off, flat out, the session left open on PC. The FAQ says nothing, however, about two devices on the same platform — two PS5s in the same household: don't count on sharing one account between two people.
Region shuts the door on players, and perhaps on your belongings
Question 19 leaves no room for maneuver: two players from different regions cannot play together. The FAQ gives the reason, which we translate here:
To guarantee server access speed, servers in different regions are located in separate physical data centers, so data cannot be shared between them.
The example given contrasts North America with Asia. The deciding factor, then, is not ping but the list of your teammates. The active region is shown in the top right corner of the login screen (question 20): a five-second check, for the mistake that's hardest to fix on this entire list.
Question 23 adds a floor that's noticeably less talked about, and it's arguably the most useful point for anyone moving from PC to console. Account assets — cosmetics, premium currency — are, according to the FAQ, shared "in general" within the same account and the same region, with the publisher pointing to the details shown in-game. Two caveats in one sentence: a "in general" that commits to nothing, and a region condition spelled out in black and white. The wording is ambiguous, and we won't settle it in the publisher's place: nothing promises that your wardrobe will cross a border.
Console servers can see each other, but don't connect
Question 22 establishes a brand-new server category, identifiable by the Console prefix in the name: only living-room devices can connect to play there. What follows is more nuanced than a flat block, and deserves to be rendered word for word — a PC or mobile user is allowed to see characters already connected on these servers, without being able to enter or play there. You'll see your character. You won't play it.
Finding a friend requires a precise procedure (questions 20 and 21): same region, beginner steps completed, then More Servers, and a Special Invitation Code if the server is full. A calendar nuance: the first scenario departure is free as long as yours isn't in its rest period.

PS Plus, Game Pass: the risk is paying for nothing
This trap works the opposite way from the others. Question 5 asks whether a PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core subscription is required; the answer is no, since the game is free and no mode is locked behind a payment. A wording nuance: the answer refers to PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass subscribers without repeating the Core tier from the question. What they get is clear-cut — extra cosmetic rewards, with no effect on balancing.
What you carry over when leaving a scenario
This eighth point won't kick in on Tuesday, but a few weeks later, once the first console arrivals finish Manibus. Question 25 opens three doors at the end of a scenario: stay, sign up elsewhere, or return to Eternaty. Staying costs nothing — after fourteen days of rest, your server automatically joins the scenario's permanent server.
Moving comes at a cost, and question 26 details the mechanism. Weapons, armor, materials, medicine, Anomalies, and calibration blueprints land in Eternaty; Energy Links are converted there into Astral Sand at a certain ratio; bringing them back out for the next scenario requires spending Resource Inheritance Points, at a variable rate. Kept free of charge: outfits, most currencies, blueprints, formulas, layouts, task progress, and event items.
What's left to settle before Tuesday
- Check your characters on each account. If both host one, use an empty account.
- Agree on a region before anyone creates a character.
- Double-check the account displayed before confirming the link. A mistake here costs thirty days.
- Decide on Console-prefixed servers: they'll shut the door on your PC.
- Don't subscribe to anything just to play.
One last deadline, for the record: maintenance on August 24, 4:00 PM Pacific time, precedes the console launch and comes with a store overhaul — a topic in its own right, which we'll cover separately. For Tuesday, the essentials boil down to one sentence: these eight rules must be decided before your first login, and none of them can be renegotiated afterward.
