Once Human

Once Human is a free-to-play post-apocalyptic open-world survival game developed by Starry Studio, a subsidiary of NetEase Games. You play as a Meta-Human - one of the rare survivors capable of absorbing stardust, an extraterrestrial substance that has transformed fauna, flora and humans into monstrous creatures called Deviants.

On a 256 km² map, you build a fully customizable base, hunt for resources, fight bosses cooperatively and manage deviant companions who can rebel if you neglect them. All this against a backdrop of mysterious storytelling about the origins of the apocalypse.

Where Once Human stands out is in its combination of hardcore survival crafting and third-person gunplay, with an aesthetic that leans as much towards weird fiction as towards PvPvE shooters. Initially launched on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) in July 2024 then on mobile (iOS, Android) in 2025, it will land on PS5 and Xbox Series on August 25, 2026.
