Once Human: how to activate cross-progression on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, iOS and Android
In brief
Once Human now supports cross-progression between PC, PS5, Xbox Series and mobile: link your NetEase account to your console account in just a few clicks from the Account menu, and your character will follow you everywhere. The process is simple but should only be done once, otherwise you risk losing your progress.
Since the launch of Once Human on PS5 and Xbox Series X, your PC save is no longer stuck on Steam. Cross-progression lets you link your NetEase account to your console account (or the other way around) to continue your run with the same character, no matter the machine. The process takes two minutes, but a careless mistake could cost you your progress. Follow the order below to the letter!
Linking your accounts step by step
- Launch the game and open the Settings menu, then go to the Account tab. You can also access it directly from the login screen, by clicking in the top right corner before even creating a character.
- Log in with your NetEase account to start the linking process.
- Then enter your console account (PS or Xbox) to link it to your PC account. The process also works the other way around: you can start from console to link your PC Steam account, or even mobile in regions where the game is available.

Once the linking is done, your character, inventory, and progression carry over from one platform to another. You can then switch between PC and console without starting from scratch, and play with your friends regardless of their setup, since full cross-play is supported.
The trap to avoid
Make sure to choose the correct NetEase account before confirming. If you get it wrong, you risk overwriting an existing character. The golden rule: do this linking only once, in a single direction (PC to console, or console to PC, not alternating between both). If you juggle between the two, cross-progression tracking is liable to break and you could lose your progress. Once the link is correctly established, there's no need to touch the settings again - everything syncs automatically.

Free-to-play, but not entirely free on console
Once Human remains a free-to-play game: the base version requires no subscription, neither PS Plus nor Xbox Game Pass, to be launched and played. However, certain premium content - the Deluxe Season Pass, deviation skins, and character cosmetics - only unlocks if you have an active PS Plus or Game Pass subscription. Keep this in mind if you were planning to enjoy the console game without spending a dime: the core of the game is accessible, but premium cosmetic loot has a prerequisite.
