Lost Ark: Solo mode and Serca matchmaking, the guide to finishing the end-game without a group (August 2026)
In brief
Since July 2026, Lost Ark finally allows players to complete the entire Kazeros campaign solo, including Act 4 and the Denouement. The new Matchmaking Mode for Serca, the Witch of Agony, works with no possibility of collective failure and rewards exactly as much as Normal mode. A character at 1700 ilvl can now farm the end-game without ever setting foot in the Party Finder.
The Summer of Extremes update, rolled out on July 15, 2026 after six hours of maintenance, removed the last barrier that kept solo players from finishing the Kazeros raid campaign. Solo Mode now covers Act 4: Fortress of Destruction and Denouement: The Final Day, and the shadow raid Serca, the Witch of Agony gets a Matchmaking Mode with reduced difficulty. A character at 1700 ilvl can therefore clear the entire Kazeros line alone.
This isn't a watered-down mode reserved for latecomers. The gold paid out is identical to Normal difficulty, except that half of it drops as bound gold. On an up-to-date roster, that's several tens of thousands of gold per week without spending a single minute in the Party Finder. Here's what solo play really pays out, what it costs, and where it stops.
Why this guide keeps the English names
Lost Ark no longer has a French version. Amazon Games removed French and German from the client's options and its official channels with the May 2025 monthly update: since then, accounts set to those languages switch automatically to English. The game's Steam page lists French as an unsupported language, the official FAQ states that the game is available in English and Spanish, and the fr-fr address of the official website redirects to the US version. French-language guides that still refer to Gates of Chaos or Guardian Raids therefore use labels that have disappeared from the interface, and all names here are those found in the client.
Everything playable solo as of August 6, 2026
The mode is accessible from the game menu (Esc) then the Adventure category, or from the dedicated button in each raid's entry interface. Watch out for the July renaming: the Solo Mode menu entry is now called Solo/Matchmaking Mode, since it also hosts the new Serca mode.
| Content | Available mode | Item Level | Total gold (Normal reference) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kazeros Raid Overture | Solo | 1620 | 6,100 |
| Kazeros Raid Act 1 | Solo | 1660 | 11,500 |
| Kazeros Raid Act 2 | Solo | 1670 | 16,500 |
| Kazeros Raid Act 3 | Solo (3 gates) | 1680 | 21,000 |
| Act 4: Fortress of Destruction | Solo (new) | 1700 | 33,000 |
| Denouement: The Final Day | Solo (new) | 1710 | 40,000 |
| Shadow Raid: Serca | Matchmaking (new) | 1710 | 35,000 |
The amounts come from the general gold rebalancing on June 10, 2026 (the The Twilight Isle update) and correspond to the total for Normal difficulty, which Solo Mode matches exactly. They remain subject to the roster's weekly gold cap: Solo Mode is classified as End Content and uses the same slots as raids played in a group. In other words, it doesn't stack, it substitutes.
Another new feature in July: Denouement no longer requires having finished Act 4, it's enough to have completed the adventure quest Path of Destiny. Along the same lines, the Content Guide and Horizon Cathedral have lost their main quest prerequisite, and the Shadow Raid unlock quest has been removed: you now enter Serca directly at 1710.
The five Solo Mode rules to know before entering
- Half the gold is bound. The July 15 patch notes specify that 50% of the gold obtained from each gate in Solo Mode is paid out as character-bound gold. The Solo tiers already in place were listed in June with roster-bound gold: check the gate's tooltip before planning your auction house purchases.
- The required item level matches Normal. No intermediate tier: 1700 for Act 4, 1710 for the Denouement.
- Entries and gates are shared. Normal, Hard, and Solo share the weekly entry counter and gate progression for the same raid.
- Difficulty locks in at the first gate. As soon as gate 1 is cleared in Solo, the following ones will be too: choosing Solo for convenience means committing to it for the entire raid.
- Disconnecting is no longer fatal. Since June, leaving or losing connection without being able to return within the allotted time triggers an entry restoration ticket sent by mail, valid until the next maintenance.
Serca in matchmaking: the raid that can no longer fail

This is the real surprise of the update. Serca's Matchmaking Mode opens at 1710, just like Normal, via the Adventure menu or the dedicated button on the Shadow Raid's entry interface. Its rules are far more permissive than anything the end-game has offered so far.
- No collective failure. The raid doesn't end in a wipe even if the whole group dies. Resurrections are unlimited, via Phoenix Plume or, failing that, 10 Crystals.
- Flexible queue. You can enter alone, in solo matchmaking, or in a pre-formed group of 2 to 3 players. Full groups of 4 are excluded and must go through Normal. Balancing adjusts to the number of players present.
- Automated support. If no support class is present, a support buff is applied. A support who enters alone instead receives an enhanced damage bonus.
- Cumulative buff at four. In a full group, attack power increases in stages as the fight progresses: Inner Spark (+50%), Inner Flame (+100%), then Inner Hellfire (+200%).
- The boss isn't passive. Serca recovers health points when she goes berserk: the mode is forgiving, not infinite.
- Normal rewards. Loot identical to Normal difficulty, bonus rewards included. However, there's no loot bidding and no Sidereal's Energy.
- Anti-AFK protection. A warning is sent if you don't participate in the fight, then exclusion follows: entry consumed, with no restoration ticket. Watching a cutscene or waiting for a resurrection doesn't count as inactivity.
One detail that matters for weekly management: matchmaking shares the entry counter and gate progression with Normal, Hard, and Nightmare difficulties, and it too locks the difficulty as soon as the first gate is cleared. Leaving the dungeon without claiming rewards forfeits the entry; however, a vote to stop before rewards are handed out restores it to players still present.
Chaos Rift and Haal's Hourglass: the two solo pillars at 1730
Beyond raids, content designed from the ground up for solo players arrived in April 2026 with the The Shadows Rise update. Chaos Rift is a single-player trial, accessible from 1730 via the Heroic Resonance item found in major cities or through the Content Guide. An entry costs 100 Aura of Resonance and 40 Rest Bonus, the latter being consumed to boost rewards if you have enough.
On site, the Chaos Rider buff changes the pace of combat: 15% attack speed, 40% movement speed, 400% resource recovery, 20% cooldown reduction, and immunity to stun, paralysis, and status effects. The rewards are exactly what a solo player is looking for: character-bound superior T4 honing materials, astrogems, an occasional Fate Ember that drops tradeable materials, and above all Sand of Trial, capped at 5 per character.
This sand fuels Haal's Hourglass, content listed for 4 players but that fits perfectly solo, once a week per character, with a reset every Wednesday at 10:00 UTC. Resurrection there is automatic, and all held Sand of Trial is consumed on clear to boost the rewards. The correct approach is therefore to stockpile your five sands in Chaos Rift before triggering the hourglass, never the other way around.
Growth Support: buying what solo play doesn't drop
The July update renamed the Solo Mode tab of the progression shop to Growth Support, and added two game-changing resources: Agony Thorn and Graced Shard. Purchase limits apply, some with a weekly reset.
The benefit is direct. Agony Thorn only drops from Serca on Hard and Nightmare, with Normal only giving Fragmented Agony Thorn to be exchanged; it's used to craft the superior T4 Destined Tremor Gear equipment from the NPC Tene. Graced Shard, meanwhile, comes from Horizon Cathedral, an abyssal dungeon that requires a group of four, and serves as currency with the NPC Deni for Ark Grid Core chests and epic astrogems. Both of these resources were therefore structurally out of reach for a strictly solo player: they no longer are, at a cost and within a cap.
The July automations that make solo play sustainable
Playing solo also means taking on all the settings a group used to share. Three additions ease that burden.
- Automatic elemental card deck. The game applies the preset matching the content's elemental weakness upon entry, configurable by element from the Card Catalog. In End Content, the deck switches gate by gate.
- Automatic astrogems. The game equips the combination offering the best estimated combat power based on equipped Cores; at least one Core must be equipped. Mass disassembly by filter has also been added.
- Recommended Settings. The former Recommended Skills now incorporates the Ark Grid and can be filtered by content type.
The Mokoko Buff has also been strengthened: Unbreakable Mind goes from 8 minutes to 1 minute, the former Procyon's Protection has been absorbed into it, its benefit now extends up to a roster item level of 1720, and its timer has been reset to 90 days starting July 15, 2026. Finally, Denouement has been made easier on Hard across both gates: Kazeros's health points and attack power reduced, the wall destruction order made predictable, and the Demon Fire debuff removed.
What solo play still doesn't unlock
Three pieces of content remain out of reach without a group, and it's better to know this before building your week around them.
- Kazeros Raid: Act 1 Extreme requires eight players, with tiers at 1720, 1750, and 1770. There's only one entry per roster per week, shared across the three difficulties. This is where you'll find the 45,000 gold from Hard and Nightmare, the Coin of Fire and Ice to spend with the NPC Nunet, and the legendary Lord of Hellfire title. This gold has a notable feature: it's paid out in full, regardless of weekly slots.
- Horizon Cathedral requires a four-player party across its three floors (1700, 1720, 1750) and pays character-bound gold ranging from 13,500 to 30,000 depending on the floor and gate.
- Serca on Hard (1730) and Nightmare (1740) has neither Solo Mode nor matchmaking. July's mode only applies to the Normal tier.
How to plan your weeks before the back-to-school period
The immediate priority is to lock in Denouement in Solo Mode: it's the best gold line accessible without a group, 40,000 reference coins for two gates, and July's nerf has made the Hard version noticeably more affordable if you can find three companions. Only after that come Act 4, then Serca via matchmaking, keeping in mind that all of this draws from the same weekly cap.
One deadline not to miss: the Summer Night Festival island closes on August 12, 2026, along with its progression chests, its 100 Pheons, and its Relic Combat Engraving Recipe Selection Pouch. As for the schedule, the publisher has announced a Kazeros Raid: Act 2 Extreme for August, the details of which had still not been published as of August 6, followed in September by the Warpweaver class alongside Base Camp, a guided progression event that brings a character up to 1700 with pre-honed gear. For a solo player, that's the date that really matters: it will provide a second character able to jump straight into Act 4 in Solo Mode.
