In brief

Amazon Games is pushing back the second wave of Lost Ark server merges from September 2 to September 9, 2026, citing the need to reduce downtime following the 35 hours of outage during the first phase. Only two source servers are affected this time (Balthorr and Gienah), compared to five in wave 1. At the same time, the publisher announced that no Elysian tickets will be returned following a malfunction in Paradise mode and promised to penalize accounts that exploited the bug.

Amazon Games published a Team Update on Monday, August 31, 2026 that shifts the second wave of Lost Ark's server merge. It had been set for Wednesday, September 2, 2026; it will now fall on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. One more week, decided two days before the deadline, on a schedule published on August 3.

The publisher's sentence leaves no room for ambiguity: "while we had planned to do our second merge this week on September 2nd, we are instead going to be moving the merge to September 9". No time accompanies the new date, and the maintenance window will only be shared "next week ahead of the merge".

First reflex before organizing yourself: the reference page for the whole operation, "2026 Server Merge Details" from August 3, has not been corrected. As of September 1, 2026, its subheading still reads "PHASE 2 MERGES — SEPTEMBER 2". The two official pages contradict each other; the more recent one prevails.

Who is affected: two source servers, not twelve

Wave 2 is nothing like the first in scale: on August 26, five source worlds disappeared at once; on September 9, there are only two.

RegionSource serverTarget serverAnnounced final state
NA East (IAD)Balthorr, which absorbed Nineveh on August 26InannaInanna + Balthorr + Nineveh
EU Central (FRA)GienahArcturus, which absorbed Ortuus on August 26Arcturus + Ortuus + Gienah

Four worlds are therefore involved, not two: the targets are also going offline, "Servers included in each phase will be unavailable during maintenance". On Inanna or Arcturus, without owning anything on Balthorr or Gienah, you won't have any roster to merge, but you will be offline.

A typo can cause doubt when checking your own server: the Wave 2 section writes "Balthor", while Wave 1 and the final state write "Balthorr", with two r's. Neither spelling has been corrected; it is the same world. The original caveat still stands — "may be adjusted before each phase begins" — and it has just been put to use once already, on the date.

The stated reason, and what Amazon isn't publishing

The publisher gives a single reason: "Given the recent 35+ hour downtime, we wanted to put a bit of time in between this and the next merge as well as give ourselves time to make adjustments to reduce the downtime on the second merge".

Two things are missing. Amazon does not date this outage and does not say which servers it affected: the text says "recent", nothing more. And no report on Wave 1 has been published — between the August 3 schedule and the Team Update, the official news feed lists only three posts, dated August 6, 11, and 12, none of which concerns the merge. This is our own review of the "News" page as of September 1, 2026, not data provided by the publisher.

The decisive word is "adjustments": adjustments are announced to shorten the downtime, without a single one being described. And if you follow the game through Steam, you won't see anything: the last Lost Ark Steam announcement dates back to August 12, 2026, and the Team Update was not relayed there — checked on September 1 via the ISteamNews API, app 1599340.

What the postponement shifts, and what Amazon has not rescheduled

The August 3 page contains a list of things to wrap up before the cutoff, but it's written for wave 1: its header reads "Please complete the following before August 26", and only one of its items is phrased per phase.

ItemWhat the official page saysReal anchor
Login events"will end approximately one week before each merge phase"Per phase: sliding
Ark PassSeason closed before the merge, nothing distributed after"before the merge"
Card XPExperience placed on a card that becomes a duplicate "will be lost"Before the cutoff
Training Camp"Training Camp progress will be reset"Before the cutoff
Auction HouseSales cancelled, items returned by mail, "claimable for 30 days"At the merge
Currency ExchangeOrders cancelled, refunded in Royal Crystals or goldAt the merge
BifrostSave data reset, slots recalculated based on the roster and Ignea TokensAt the merge
Product InventoryBeyond 50 items, no further deliveriesAfter the merge

Login events are the only item whose slide is spelled out in black and white, with the rule tied to the phase: they should close out around Wednesday, September 2, 2026. That's our calculation based on the published rule, not a date from Amazon, which has not re-dated any event.

For everything else, the only prudent reading is to treat September 9 as the deadline: no individual deadline has been republished. On the recombination of two rosters, however, nothing changes — the delay shifts a date, it doesn't alter any of the rules, and we detailed these four rules on August 17.

Paradise: Elysian tickets will not be returned

The second part of the Team Update is harsher. Amazon describes "an issue in Paradise involving Elysian challenge attempt tickets being granted back to accounts in a way they were not intended to be": attempt tickets wrongly re-credited. Access to the content was closed during the investigation, then reopened.

The decision is clear-cut and openly stated: "the system will not be restoring or re-granting these tickets", because "keeping progression fair for everyone is the priority here, and re-granting the tickets would carry the original issue forward". Then comes the line that will get people talking: "We will be reviewing accounts that took advantage of this and will take action against them".

Three details are missing. Amazon doesn't say when the issue appeared or how long the content stayed closed; it nowhere defines "took advantage of this", between the player whose tickets came back without asking for anything and the one who exploited the mechanism repeatedly; it announces neither the nature of the measures nor their timeline. Paradise, meanwhile, enters the scope of a merge for the first time, with the surviving Paradise's leaderboard being retained.

The game is not translated into French

All the names mentioned here are in English, and that's not a choice on our part. On its Steam page, viewed in French on September 1, 2026, Lost Ark shows "2 supported languages," English and Spanish (Spain). The "French" line carries the note "Unsupported language," and the launch block adds: "This product is not available in your language."

The official website says the same thing in a different way: its selector only offers English (UK), English (US) and Español (ES), and the /fr-fr/ address returns a permanent redirect, HTTP code 308, to /en-us/. Checked on September 1, 2026. So there is no official French label for Paradise, Elysian, Ark Pass, Bifrost, Ignea Tokens, Training Camp, Auction House or Currency Exchange: any French translation of these terms you come across elsewhere was made up by whoever wrote it.

In practice

  • Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2026, time not announced.
  • Maintenance: announced for "next week," that is, the week of September 7.
  • Offline worlds: Balthorr and Inanna (NA East), Gienah and Arcturus (EU Central).
  • Elysian tickets: no refund, an account review has been announced.

On one of these four worlds, the week gained is a useful window: clear your Card XP before a duplicate wipes it out, cash in your Training Camp experience, pull your own Auction House sales and Currency Exchange orders yourself rather than have them cancelled, and bring your Product Inventory back down below 50 items. Elsewhere, September 9 changes nothing: Vairgrys, Thaemine and Elpon completed their merge on August 26.

What remains the real unknown is the duration. Amazon is pushing back wave 2 to shorten a downtime whose details it has never published, and won't give its estimate until just a few days before the operation. On a game whose future in the West is already the subject of an official announcement, this silence stands out more than usual.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Amazon pushing back the merge by a week?
The publisher cites the 35+ hours of downtime from the first wave and wants to give itself time to refine technical adjustments and shorten the outage. However, no details about the issues encountered or the measures taken have been published.
Which servers will be closed on September 9?
In NA East, Balthorr and Inanna will disappear into Inanna. In EU Central (France), Gienah will merge with Arcturus. Both target servers will also be closed during maintenance, even if you don't own anything there.
What happens if I don't clear out my Auction House before September 9?
Your sales will be automatically cancelled and the items will be sent back by mail, claimable for 30 days. This is the same mechanic as for wave 1, so it's better to plan ahead and withdraw your items yourself.
I got my Elysian tickets re-credited after the bug — will I be punished?
Amazon does not distinguish between a player who passively received the tickets and one who repeatedly exploited the mechanism. The publisher announced an account review and measures without specifying which ones, or when they will be applied. There's no way to know if you're a target.
What exact time will the merge take place on September 9?
Amazon has not communicated any specific time. The maintenance window will be announced "next week", meaning between September 1–5. Still, it's worth checking the official website, since Lost Ark's latest Steam post dates back to August 12 and hasn't been updated since.

Key takeaways

  • The merge slips by one week to allow Amazon to fine-tune its infrastructure and reduce the planned outage.
  • Four servers in total will be unavailable on September 9: Balthorr and Inanna in NA East, Gienah and Arcturus in EU Central.
  • Affected players absolutely must clear their Card XP, their Auction House, and their Product Inventory before maintenance, otherwise they will lose their data or be locked out.
  • No timeframe or exact date has been communicated for the maintenance window, which will be announced "next week".
  • Elysian tickets will not be re-credited and disciplinary action will target accounts that exploited the glitch, with no definition given of what constitutes exploitation.
