Korra Nightmare and Avatar Aang Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game - unlock guide
In brief
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game hides two unlockable characters in its story mode: Korra Nightmare in Chapter 6 and Avatar Aang in Chapter 11. Both are obtained simply by winning the chapter's fight where you play as them, with no additional conditions.
The base roster of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is limited to 10 characters. Two additional fighters are hidden behind the story mode - Korra Nightmare and Avatar Aang - bringing the total to 12. Both are unlocked by playing specific chapters, with no particular condition beyond natural progression.
Korra Nightmare - Chapter 6
This is the first unlockable you'll come across, and the easiest to obtain. Once you reach Chapter 6, you directly control Korra Nightmare for the chapter's first fight. Win that fight, and she's immediately unlocked outside of story mode.
Gameplay-wise, Korra Nightmare works like a clone of the base version: the animations differ, some moves are tweaked, but the skeleton is identical. What really sets her apart is her set of Phantom abilities: she can teleport around the field and unleash high-firepower attacks. Handy for throwing off an opponent who doesn't know the matchup.
Honestly, if you're torn between the two Korras, the original version remains the stronger one. Her Avatar State as a gameplay mechanic and her more balanced moveset give her a clear edge in the long run. Korra Nightmare is more of a mind game tool than a credible second main.

Avatar Aang - Chapter 11
Second and final unlock. Head to Chapter 11, same principle: you play as Avatar Aang during the chapter's fight, and finishing it is enough to permanently unlock him.
Be warned, this fight is noticeably tougher than Korra Nightmare's. You're thrown into the driver's seat of a character whose moveset you've probably never touched, and the game doesn't go easy on you. If you want to get through the sequence without overthinking it, the forward heavy is a reliable projectile. Spam it, it works.
Avatar Aang shares a lot with the base Aang, but his big strength is the reworked version of the Air Scooter, renamed Avatar's Ascension. It lets him fly freely and chain into varied elemental combos:
- Rock volley: a powerful barrage of rocks.
- Arcing fireball: a fireball that rises then falls with a staggered timing.
- Water grab: a hydraulic grab to control the opponent.

Add to that the Fire Fist for ranged play and Avatar's Wrath as the Ascension's finisher, and you've got a character with a genuinely solid projectile game. Still, here again, the original Aang is probably more accessible - especially early in a run, when you're learning the basics of the combat engine.
The bonus along the way: a trophy up for grabs
Unlocking both characters triggers the "Here Comes A New Challenger!" trophy. A cosmetic reward, but one that's worth having for trophy hunters.
