In brief

KRAFTON unveils TARAE: The Unbound, an action-RPG set in an Eastern dark fantasy universe developed by Korean studio Boundary. The game, announced at gamescom 2026, is set in the world of Taegwido island and draws its references from Buddhism and karma rather than Western medieval lore—but no French version is planned, and the release date remains to be determined.

KRAFTON lifted the veil on TARAE: The Unbound on August 25, 2026, during the gamescom Opening Night Live. The developer, Boundary, is a Korean studio previously unknown. Five reveals in the same evening: after PUBG, inZOI and Subnautica 2, the publisher is expanding its catalog at full speed.

It's a top-down action RPG set in an Eastern dark fantasy. The action takes place on the island of Taegwido, born from the collapse of the "Six Realms" after an outcast named Agasa shattered the borders that separated them. Six "Seekers" serve as classes. Boundary's CEO, Inyoung Koo, claims the Buddhist cycle of reincarnation and karma as the foundation, breaking away from the genre's usual Western medieval setting.

What remains unknown is still enormous. The Steam page lists the release date as "To be announced," with no price or business model, and the footage shown is labeled alpha. Only PC via Steam is confirmed by KRAFTON: reports claiming PS5 and Xbox Series versions are not backed by any statement from the publisher.

The real sticking point lies elsewhere. The language table on the Steam page has exactly two rows, English and Korean, both marked with full audio support. Nothing else is declared at this stage: no Japanese, no Chinese, none of the European languages. The press is already filing it alongside Diablo, much like the tags players have added on Steam: Hack and Slash, Loot, Isometric.
