In brief

Rebel Wolves has finally revealed the console performance of The Blood of Dawnwalker: two graphics modes capped at a maximum of 40 fps in dynamic 4K, with no 60 fps at launch. The Series S remains mysteriously absent from the official presentation, twelve days before release.

Rebel Wolves uploaded a 5-minute-39-second video titled "The Blood of Dawnwalker — Console Footage" on August 21, 2026, on its official channel. The studio's first console footage release, less than two weeks before launch.

Two graphics modes, none at 60 fps

The video covers PS5 Pro, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Across all three machines, the announced targets are identical: a Quality mode at dynamic 4K/30 fps, a Balanced mode at dynamic 4K/40 fps. Rebel Wolves has not published any French-language labeling for these modes. No 60 fps mode is planned at launch.

The official description confirms it: the footage shown is from Quality mode. Balanced mode is announced, not shown. And its 40 fps assumes a display capable of 120 Hz — without that panel, only 30 fps remains. A detail that's missing everywhere else.

Series S stays out of the picture

The Xbox Series S doesn't appear in the video, and the studio hasn't documented anything regarding it. Twelve days before launch on a platform it's selling the game on, that's a signal, not an oversight.

After the narrative trailers and July's PC impressions, this is the studio's first technical response. A 40 fps cap on an open-world Unreal Engine 5 title from former CD Projekt Red developers remains an honest compromise if the image holds steady without stutter. Releasing September 3, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pre-orders and editions have already been covered elsewhere.

Key takeaways

  • Only two modes: Quality at 30 fps and Balanced at 40 fps in dynamic 4K on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Series X
  • The 40 fps mode requires a 120 Hz display, otherwise you're stuck at 30 fps
  • The Xbox Series S remains invisible in the studio's official lineup, a bad sign two weeks before release
  • No 60 fps mode planned at launch, open-world UE5 has its limits
