Saros: Previews are rolling in, an irresistible bullet ballet? Gameblog's take
In brief
Saros, Housemarque's new roguelike, is shaping up to be a future PS5 hit thanks to its ultra-addictive bullet hell gameplay and flawless precision mechanics. Gameblog's previews reveal a title with accessible yet demanding loops, elevated by stunning visuals and masterful use of the DualSense.
SAROS, the latest roguelike from Housemarque (Returnal), is shaping up to be a future hit on PS5 after an approximately 2-hour test session from our colleagues at Gameblog. This third-person bullet hell invites us to discover an alien universe at the edges of an ancient civilization, in a world where we play as Arjun, a member of a rescue group exploring the human colony.
Polished gameplay?
According to the author, the gameplay proves effective and highly addictive from the very first moments: precise controls, very responsive dash and jump to dodge a deluge of multicolored projectiles. The gameplay loops are accessible and easy to grasp, but difficult to master, culminating in a rise in intensity against increasingly aggressive enemies, and even a boss such as Prophet, this monstrous tree in a battle with surprising phases. Replayability comes first, thanks to permanent upgrades, but also to teleportation shortcuts to The Passage base, allowing players in particular to backtrack between runs.

What about the technical side?
The PS5's graphics further enhance the gaming experience and immersion: fixed 60 fps on standard PS5, near-instant loading after death, and masterful use of the DualSense's features, with its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback so immersive. Every impact lets you feel the spatial perception of your surroundings, somewhat like a "spider-sense", which helps locate threats that aren't always obvious. The visual atmosphere, magnified by dazzling biomes, seems to be on par with Housemarque's best productions, with Returnal leading the way.
Final verdict before the full reviews
According to Gameblog, SAROS has captured the Housemarque essence: exceptional gunplay and precision mechanics for immediate fun. Its release is approaching (April 30), and this must-play PS5 title will surely give you hours of deadly, confident pirouettes within a (new) eclipse.
