Genshin Impact 6.7 Luna VIII: the July 2026 EN guide
In brief
Genshin Impact 6.7 Luna VIII (July 1, 2026) closes out the Nod-Krai arc ahead of version 7.0 on August 12. On the menu: Sandrone (new playable Fatui Harbinger), exploration of the Moon, a brand-new elemental reaction (Astroconduction), and three highly anticipated reruns (Columbina, Shogun Raiden, Citlali). It's the densest patch of the year, with a summer event in Fontaine and major metagame changes.
Launched on July 1, 2026, the 6.7 Luna VIII update opens the final chapter of the Nod-Krai arc before the shift to version 7.0 scheduled for August 12. HoYoverse offers one of the densest patches of the year: a new playable Fatui Harbinger, the Moon finally walkable, a brand-new elemental reaction, a summer event in Fontaine and three highly anticipated banner reruns. Here's the complete overview to tackle this month of July 2026 without missing anything.
Version 6.7 Luna VIII: dates and overview
The update runs over six weeks, from July 1 to August 11, 2026, with two classic banner phases.
- Phase 1 (July 1 - July 21): debut of Sandrone and rerun of Citlali.
- Phase 2 (July 21 - August 11): rerun of Columbina and Raiden Shogun.
Important detail: HoYoverse has confirmed there will be no version 6.8. Version 6.7 will therefore be directly followed by Genshin Impact 7.0 on August 12, 2026, which will kick off a new narrative chapter beyond Teyvat. In other words, this update is a turning point: it closes out the Nod-Krai cycle that began in September 2025 and lays the groundwork for the next major adventure.
The patch downloads during the night of June 30 to July 1 depending on time zones, with the traditional five-hour maintenance that accompanies major updates. Expect around 25 GB of download for the entirety of the new content, including lunar exploration, a figure consistent with the new permanent map that expands the world well beyond Teyvat.
Luna VIII is the culmination of everything the Nod-Krai region has built over the past year, between lunar cult, the Fatui cabal and the mysteries surrounding Columbina.
Sandrone, the Cryo Puppet

The undisputed star of the patch, Sandrone finally arrives as a playable 5-star character. Seventh of the Fatui Harbingers and nicknamed The Puppet, she wields a Cryo two-handed sword and plays as a main DPS. Her mechanics revolve around her automaton Fagio, who alternates between two combat modes via a "Decode-Charge" gauge. Piloted well, she chains heavy Cryo attacks with special strikes called Stellar-Conduct DMG.
Her banner is one of the most sought-after of the year, as she's also key to the patch's new elemental reaction (more on that below). Pity and the wish system guarantee her within a maximum of 90 pulls, but it's better to aim for 160 primogems to secure her signature weapon Puppeteer, a claymore tailored for her kit.
Lore-wise, Sandrone is mainly known for her experiments in automation and robotics. Her appearances in artifacts and manga already portrayed her as a cold, mechanistic figure, and her gameplay faithfully reflects that: Fagio blocks aggro and absorbs damage, while the Puppet orchestrates the scene from a bit further back. A hybrid archetype somewhat reminiscent of Xianyun or Chiori, while remaining unique in its execution.
Columbina, Citlali, and Raiden Shogun reruns
Version 6.7 is particularly packed in terms of reruns, as it features three limited 5-star characters in addition to Sandrone.
- Columbina (Hydro, bow). Finally back since her initial release, the Moon Maiden remains the cornerstone of Lunar Bloom teams, with devastating off-field Hydro damage.
- Raiden Shogun (Electro, polearm). Still formidable as an energy generator, she pairs perfectly with Sandrone to trigger Stellar-Conduct on loop.
- Citlali (Cryo, catalyst). A Cryo support from Natlan, she lowers enemy resistance and amplifies the team's Cryo damage, a cut above for any emerging Cryo DPS.
The Moon Finally Explored
Big brand-new feature: Frost Moon becomes a permanent exploration zone. This is the first time the game has opened up a region outside of Teyvat as a full-fledged map. Travelers had already briefly set foot there during an excursion with Columbina; this time, the map is permanently available.
The associated Archon Quest, soberly titled When We Look Up At The Moon, brings the conclusion to the Nod-Krai storyline and officially introduces the Moon goddess Kuutar, worshipped by the Frostmoon Scions. Expect a good ten hours to complete the exploration, the lunar puzzles, and the forgotten temples.
Walking on the Moon in a HoYoverse game had been lore readers' fantasy since the beta: Luna VIII finally checks that box.
The Main Event: Sunny Summer Fontinalia
Change of scenery for the summer event: Sunny Summer Fontinalia takes place in Fontaine, aboard Duke Wriothesley's ocean liner, the Wingalet. The concept: manage and decorate a giant aquarium while completing shooting and dancing challenges, along with a small event quest that introduces Sandrone to the wider Teyvat audience.
The rewards are particularly generous:
- A free copy of Charlotte (4-star Cryo, catalyst) for everyone who completes the event.
- A new skin for Charlotte, unlockable via event points.
- Primogems, mora, experience books, and weapon ascension materials.
Alongside this, the Leyline Overflow system is active for the entire duration of the patch and doubles character experience and mora rewards from Ley Line Outcrops. It's the perfect time to level up your new recruits to level 90.
Stellar-Conduct, the New Elemental Reaction
Technically, the patch introduces a new reaction called Stellar-Conduct. It triggers when Cryo meets Electro and functionally replaces the old Superconduct for characters able to take advantage of it.
Sandrone is its main enabler: her abilities deal bonus Stellar-Conduct damage and scale with ATK stats. A notable side effect: Cyno becomes one of the patch's biggest beneficiaries, as his Electro damage synergizes perfectly with Sandrone as a secondary DPS.
Another important point: the reaction doesn't consume elements the way Overloaded or Melt do, which allows for very aggressive rotations and near-constant uptime.
Stellar-Conduct is the bridge HoYoverse had been keeping us waiting for between mechanical Cryo DPS units and Electro energy generators: Sandrone plus Raiden is finally the comp that reconciles both schools.
In practice, Anemo-Electro (Astroconduction) also lowers enemies' physical resistance for several seconds, exactly like Superconduct, which makes it worthwhile even for mono-Cryo DPS units like Eula who benefit from a substantial physical damage bonus.
Primogem codes active in July 2026
HoYoverse handed out several codes during the presentation livestream, most of which expired 24 hours after broadcast. Here are the codes still valid as of this writing:
- LEGEDILJKSGM: 60 primogems + 5 adventurer's experience.
- PFY1S40I88T9: 60 primogems + 5 adventurer's experience.
- GENSHINGIFT: 50 primogems + 3 hero's wit (permanent code).
To use them, you must be Adventure Rank 10 or higher and go to the official redemption page after linking your HoYoverse account. As always, livestream codes are time-limited: if you see them here, act fast.
Current meta and recommended teams
Patch 6.7 significantly shakes up the competitive tier lists, particularly for Spiral Abyss and the new Imaginarium Theater dungeon.
- Astroconduction Sandrone comp: Sandrone (DPS) + Raiden Shogun (Electro battery) + Citlali (Cryo support) + Bennett (ATK buff/heal). The most explosive archetype right now.
- Cyno reboot comp: Cyno (DPS) + Sandrone (Cryo sub-DPS) + Fischl (off-field Electro) + Kazuha (grouping + shred). Much more competitive than before thanks to Astroconduction.
- Bloom comp: Columbina (off-field Hydro) + a Dendro catalyst user + Xilonen + a flex support. Still at the top for single target.
F2P players can build these teams with substitutes: Rosaria instead of Sandrone for Cryo, Beidou instead of Raiden for Electro, Barbara instead of Columbina for Hydro. Damage output will be lower, but the gameplay stays the same.
