Dead by Daylight Sunflesh Rift: tiers, quests, and outfits to unlock before October 6
In brief
Dead by Daylight's Sunburnt Flesh Rift runs from July 21 to October 6, 2026, with 100 tiers to climb, two Ascended outfits, and a system now fully built around weekly and daily quests. You have 60 days to finish it, and even without spending a cent, the free track offers two complete outfits — a real change from the usual Rifts.
Open since July 21, the Sunflesh Rift accompanies Dead by Daylight until October 6, 2026. On the menu: 100 reward tiers in the colors of an ancient desert, two Transcended outfits for Taurie Cain and The Wraith, and a distinctive feature that changes the way you fill it — it's the first major Rift entirely driven by the quest system that replaced Archives challenges in 2026.
As of August 7, there are exactly 60 days left to complete it. That's a comfortable amount of time, provided you understand how Rift fragments now accumulate, and take advantage of the 2v8 week of the Summer Howls starting August 11 to rack up experience in a row.
Good news for players who don't spend anything: the free track of Sunflesh contains two complete outfits, for Feng Min and The Knight — a real bonus compared to the usual Rifts, where most of the cosmetics are locked behind the premium track.
The Sunflesh Rift in brief
- Dates: from July 21 to October 6, 2026, i.e. 11 weeks.
- Structure: 100 tiers, each requiring 10 Rift fragments.
- Two tracks: a free track open to everyone and a premium track for 1,000 Auric Cells, an investment that is fully recouped by completing the Rift.
- Content: 13 outfits in total (11 for the desert collection, 2 for the community collection), plus 11 charms, 7 badges, and 8 banners spread across the two tracks.
- Individual tiers: purchasable for 100 Auric Cells each if time runs short.
The new quest system: how the Rift progresses in 2026
Since the Archives overhaul, there's no longer a challenge to select one by one before each match: all quests linked to the Rift are active at the same time, and each one contributes to progression. Four categories coexist:
- Daily quests, which replace the old daily rituals and renew every day.
- Rift quests, more demanding, distributed in weekly waves — 11 weeks for Sunflesh. Crucial point: they remain completable retroactively. If you jump into the Rift partway through, the waves from previous weeks are waiting for you.
- Tier quests, which scale up: hook 5 Survivors, then 10, and so on.
- Event quests, which replace event Tomes.
You can pin a quest to track its progress mid-Trial from the pause menu — a habit worth adopting so you're not playing blind. Four achievement quests also mark milestones throughout the pass: at 9, 18, 25, and 33 completed Rift quests, they award badges, banners, and additional currencies.
Simply playing also feeds the counter: 500 experience points convert into 1 Rift fragment. But do the math — 100 tiers require 1,000 fragments, meaning 500,000 XP from Trial grinding alone. Quests aren't a bonus, they're the main engine of progression.
Premium track: the golden desert in eleven outfits

The two centerpieces are the Transcended outfits. Taurie Cain dons Fiery Devotee, the armor of an ancient soldier who disobeyed orders to pursue a divine force and its promise of transcendence, complete with golden mask and black veils. The Wraith becomes Scrapper, a bygone scavenger who stumbled upon a bottomless treasure, wearing a crocodile mask assembled from bits and pieces. The first unlocks right at the start of the premium track, the second at tier 66.
The rest of the collection is spread across the first 70 tiers. Behaviour has not published any French label for these outfits: the names remain in English, including in our table.
| Character | Outfit | Tiers (premium track) |
|---|---|---|
| Taurie Cain | Fiery Devotee (Transcended) | from tier 1 |
| Adam Francis | Telltale Sign | 4 to 10 |
| The Deathslinger | Roving Bounty | 5 to 19 |
| Mikaela Reid | Bleak Force | 14 to 18 |
| Élodie Rakoto | False Trail | 21 to 35 |
| The Trickster | Ancient Instinct | 24 to 30 |
| Orela Rose | Faithful Healer | 34 to 40 |
| Zarina Kassir | Daring Scribe | 42 to 48 |
| The Plague | Dissident Priestess | 50 to 56 |
| Kate Denson | Fervent Chantress | 58 to 63 |
| The Wraith | Scrapper (Transcended) | 66 |
The premium track adds a series of themed extras: the Trapper's Sarcophagus charm — the Trapper mummified in his coffin —, the Sunflesh Stone badge, and the Haunted Desert banner, among others.
Free track: two full outfits without spending a thing
This is the most underrated selling point of this Rift. The free track of Sunflesh offers two complete outfits from the community collection, designed with community artists:
- Star Student for Feng Min, spread between tiers 57 and 69;
- Splinter Rose for the Knight, an armor eaten away by roses, between tiers 43 and 53.
These are joined by the Moonstone Maurice badge, the Deadly Prize banner, Bloodpoints, and various customization fragments. In other words: even without buying the pass, reaching tier 69 nets two full outfits — a perfectly achievable goal over two months of regular play.
Deep Rift: the ultimate exclusivity of tiers 71 to 100
Beyond tier 70 lies the Deep Rift, reserved for recolored variants of the premium track outfits. On Sunflesh, these stretch all the way to tier 100: Taurie Cain gets her Deep Rift versions at tiers 75 and 99, the Wraith at tiers 86 and 100, while the variants for Zarina Kassir, the Plague, and Kate Denson are scattered between tiers 72 and 98.
The distinction matters when deciding where to stop grinding: the classic outfits from a Rift eventually return to the game's store, about a year later, in exchange for Auric Cells. The Depths of the Rift variants, however, never come back. If one of them catches your eye, it's now or never.
Getting your money's worth out of 1,000 Auric Cells
The premium pass costs 1,000 Auric Cells, but the premium track pays out bundles of 25 to 50 Cells throughout the tiers: by finishing the Rift, you recoup the entire stake. The next pass can then be funded with the refund from the previous one.
Two golden rules to never lose out on the exchange:
- Buying the pass is retroactive: all premium rewards from tiers already reached are paid out immediately. So there's no obligation to buy right now — climb the tiers for free, and decide at the end of September based on your actual progress. Zero risk.
- The tiers costing 100 Cells each should be saved for the very last days, to grab a Depths of the Rift variant that will never come back. Using them along the way means paying for what the quests would have given you for free.
The plan for the last 60 days
Here's how to structure the end of the run starting August 7th:
- Catch up on weeks 1 through 3: the Rift quest waves from the past weeks remain available retroactively. A single weekend is enough to make up the backlog.
- Take advantage of the 2v8 week from August 11th to 18th: Trials there are shorter and denser, ideal for chaining tier quests and converting XP into Fragments. The Summer Shrieks event quests, active until August 18th, also feed into progression.
- Clear your dailies every day: they're the cheapest Fragments in terms of playtime.
- Always pin a quest before starting a Trial, to steer your playstyle without sacrificing the match.
- On August 25th, Chapter 41 arrives: the release of Chorus of Sin and its new Killer will naturally spur more sessions — that's Fragments earned with no extra effort during the second half of the Rift.
One last call, to help you decide where to draw the line: if you play several evenings a week, aim for tier 100 — the pass pays for itself, and the Depths of the Rift variants are the one thing you'll never be able to buy again. If you play less often, focus on the free track up to tier 69 for Feng Min's and The Knight's outfits, and hold on to your Auric Cells: the classic premium outfits will return to the store in a year anyway.
