In brief

Windrose features a fast travel system that unlocks as you progress. This guide explains how to obtain the Fast Travel Bell and set up travel points to instantly move between islands.

In Windrose, navigation can be an endless chore, especially when you find yourself exploring islands scattered across the four corners of the world. Fortunately, the game offers a fast travel system that makes things much more convenient. This article will show you step by step how to unlock and use this essential feature.

Unlocking fast travel

This feature isn't available at the start of Windrose, but unlocks as you progress. To activate it, you'll need to follow several important steps. It all begins with the main quest: “How My Adventure on the Coast Began.”

Complete this quest, which teaches you how to smelt copper ingots. You'll then have in your possession a key item for the fast travel system, namely the Fast Travel Bell.

How to obtain the Fast Travel Bell

There are two methods.

  1. You can explore smugglers' caches near your starting point. These caches are often buried under rubble and can contain, among other treasures, the Bell.
  2. If you'd rather craft your own Bell, you'll need to assemble 10 copper ingots and 3 ropes. Copper ingots are made from copper ore, which can be gathered in caves.

Using the Fast Travel Bell

To set up a fast travel point, open the build menu using the ‘B’ key. Then select the first option under the ‘build’ tab to set up a fast travel point. Each fast travel point requires a Fast Travel Bell, as well as 20 units of wood.

Tip

It's recommended not to place your point too far from the water, for example on a beach, or near a dock.

To use fast travel, you need to have set up at least two fast travel points in different locations. Once that's done, you can travel freely between these points.

To reach a fast travel point while you're on your boat, it's even simpler: just open the map to instantly move to any unlocked travel point, unless you're in combat or being chased by enemies!
