Palia: Insect-o-rama closes on August 24 and the Great Shimmerwing Migration leaves for a year — and no, it's not called « Shimmerfly » in French

Five days remain to complete Insect-a-Palooza in Palia: the community bug-hunting event runs from August 17 to 24, 2026, and it overlaps with the Great Shimmerfly Migration, which will wrap up with summer's end without an announced end date.

Before going further, a vocabulary clarification is in order, since it concerns all French-language coverage of this update — including ours.

The real French names: what the client says, and what the press writes

Singularity 6 publishes its patch notes in French on its Steam announcements feed, and the labels there are fully localized. They don't match what you'll find everywhere else, including on our own site. The correspondence table:

This matters in practice: if you search for "Shimmerfly" or "Flutterfox" in your inventory or journal in French, you won't find anything. And if you're following an English-language guide, you'll need to translate every line.

Insect-a-Palooza: a cooperative hunt, not an individual race

The principle fits in one official sentence: "Catch bugs all across Palia and work together with fellow Palians to unlock rewards for everyone."

The word that matters is "everyone": rewards unlock collectively, not individually. Singularity 6 did not publish the detailed scale in its notes — how many bugs are needed for each tier, nor whether a minimum personal contribution is required to receive the reward. These are precisely the two questions that will decide your evening, and they have no official answer in the announcement.

The studio offers a piece of preparation advice that should be taken literally: "With the Great Migration in full swing, now's the perfect time to stock up on bug bombs and chase down Palia's adorable little creatures." In other words: stock up on your bombs before you head out, not during.

The studio also explicitly points to a dedicated blog post "for more details on rewards and participation," rather than listing them in its patch notes. So be wary of tier lists circulating without citing that source: they don't come from the official notes.

The Bulletin Board: the real novelty of this edition

This is the system that accompanies the event, and it's permanent. Auni "wants to prove that Kilima has the best Bug Scouts" and needs help "to beat the Harvest Meadow troop in this year's Glimmerwing challenge."

He names you Bug Scout leader, and the Notice Board lists the tasks to complete. The official notes cite four categories:

• catching Glimmerwings;
• picking flowers;
• preparing snacks;
• helping with farm work.

The final reward is named: the Glimmerwing Garden recipe. It's a decoration recipe, so a permanent item — unlike the community event rewards, it doesn't depend on anyone but you.

Point to note: the four task categories touch on four different activities — bug catching, gathering, cooking, and farm work. A player specialized in just one of them will progress slowly. If you're starting now, open the board first and organize your day around the listed tasks, rather than the other way around.

The Great Migration: it's the shortest window, and it has no date

The Great Migration of the Glimmerwings "fills Kilima's dusky sky with sparkling wings for a limited time." There are two official details worth remembering.

The first: you need to "watch for star-quality Glimmerwings" to decorate your plot, and "with a bit of luck," walk away with a Glimmerwing plushie. Star quality is therefore the real objective: an ordinary Glimmerwing doesn't serve the same decorative purpose.

The second, and this is the pressing one: "As summer draws to a close, the migration will continue its journey. Don't miss your chance to catch them! They'll return next year for their annual migration."

The studio hasn't announced any precise end date, only a horizon — the end of summer — and a return timeline: next year. This is the only deadline in this update that's measured in months rather than days if you miss it. Insect-o-rama closes on August 24; the migration, on the other hand, disappears for a year.

The steps to follow if you're getting started tonight

An order that avoids wasting time: first open the Notice Board to learn Auni's tasks, then craft or buy a stock of bug bombs, and finally head out to Kilima at dusk — it's Kilima's dusky sky that the migration fills, according to the studio's own terms.

Butterflies serve both objectives at once: they count for Insect-o-rama and for the Butterfly challenge on the Notice Board. It's the only catch that works on both counters simultaneously, and it's also the one that disappears earliest.
