Moonlight Peaks Tools and Upgrades: Complete Guide

Tools are at the heart of progression in Moonlight Peaks. You start out with rusty equipment, and upgrading it is what unlocks access to better resources, enchanted crops, and advanced farming areas. Here's everything you need to know, from the first rustic axe to the premium fishing rod.

Starting tools

When you first arrive in Moonlight Peaks, you start from scratch with six basic tools:

• Rusty Axe - for chopping down trees
• Rusty Pickaxe - for mining rocks and ores
• Rusty Shovel - for digging
• Rusty Scythe - for scything
• Rusty Watering Can - for watering crops
• Broken Wand - unusable for now

The first five get the job done early on. The Broken Wand, on the other hand, will stay with you for quite a while before it's of any use.

Tools unlocked through progression

Three additional tools become available as the story progresses - they can't be bought, you have to earn them.

• The Fishing Rod unlocks around the second night. Head to the fishing spot north of your house: you'll meet Noel there, who hands it to you.
• The Net arrives much later, around night 12. It's Death himself who gives it to you, in exchange for a favor: he'll ask you to start collecting Soul Blobs. Not exactly a standard transaction, but welcome to Moonlight Peaks.
• The Wand stays broken until night 18. At that point, a quest pushes you to help Sabrina and Fiona design a Mana Extractor. It's this story-driven crafting task that finally restores your wand.

Where to upgrade your tools

Only one place matters: the Howling Hammer, the forge run by Ridge. Open on weekdays from 6pm to midnight. Show up too late or on the weekend, and the shop will be closed. So make sure to plan your visits accordingly.

The upgrade logic

All the main tools follow exactly the same three-tier progression pattern: Copper → Iron → Gold. You bring in the current tool, bars of the corresponding metal, and coins. Ridge takes care of the rest.

• Copper Tier: 3 Copper Bars + rusty tool → 1,000 coins
• Iron Tier: 3 Iron Bars + copper tool → 4,000 coins
• Gold Tier: 3 Gold Bars + iron tool → 16,000 coins

The cost rises quickly, exponentially even. Upgrading a tool to Gold level will cost you 21,000 coins in total, plus the materials for each tier. So there's no point trying to upgrade everything at once!

Where to start?

Two tools deserve your attention first. The pickaxe, to start with: it's the one that gives you access to the copper, iron, and gold bars needed for all the other upgrades. Without an efficient mine, nothing gets off the ground. The axe comes right after - tougher trees won't fall to a rusty axe, and wood remains a frequently requested resource.
