Monster Hunter Wilds: Event Quests to farm in August 2026 for your armor spheres and jewels

In brief

Since August 2026, Monster Hunter Wilds has offered a permanent catalog of sixty Event Quests. This guide presents the best ones to farm based on your actual needs: armor spheres, weapon or armor decorations, glowing orbs, luminous stones, and Artian materials.

Since update 1.042 on August 4, the Quest Board in Monster Hunter Wilds is no longer a catalog that empties out every week. As of August 9, 2026, Capcom's official calendar lists sixty permanent Event Quests and ten permanent Challenge Quests, against just a single time-limited quest currently active. What's there stays there, and you can finally build a farming routine instead of chasing a weekly rotation.

The problem is that this list has become unreadable. The titles — "A Silver Tongue," "A Chilling Encounter," "Tarantula in the Rain" — say absolutely nothing about what they actually reward, and a good half of the catalog hands out cosmetics you have no use for. This guide tackles the problem from the other end: we start from the resource you're missing, and work backward to the quest that drops it.

Unless otherwise noted, all the quests mentioned here are permanent and playable offline as of 1.042. The names, regions, required ranks, and targets come from Capcom's official French-language calendar, checked on August 9, 2026.

Armor Spheres: four quests, four tiers

This is the dumbest bottleneck in the game. You've got the set, you've got the skills, and you're stuck on an upgrade gauge because you're short on spheres. Four Event Quests cover the whole progression, from the very start to the post-story content.

QuestDifficultyRegionRequired RankTargetAnnounced Reward
Sand Rodeo1★Windward PlainsHR 2BalaharaArmor Spheres and Armor Spheres+
A Silver Tongue5★Windward PlainsHR 21Chatacabra AlphaDense and Sharp Armor Spheres
Panic in Wyveria6★Ruins of WyveriaHR 31Thunder Anjanath Guardian AlphaDense Armor Spheres
Sea and Sky Without End7★Scarred CoastHR 41All monstersHeavy Armor Spheres

The selection logic is simple: pick the highest quest your Hunter Rank allows, not the one whose monster you like. A 1★ Balahara can be cleared in no time, but it only rewards first-tier spheres, useless for upgrading an endgame set. Conversely, the Heavy Armor Sphere from "Sea and Sky Without End" is described in-game as "a very sturdy armor sphere," to be fused with a piece "to upgrade it substantially."

Watch out for the condition on "Sea and Sky Without End": it requires hunting all the target monsters, not just one. It's the most profitable of the bunch, but also the longest — treat it as a full hunt, not a five-minute run between two sessions.

Decorations: one quest for weapons, one for armor

Wilds separates offensive and defensive decorations, and the calendar makes exactly the same distinction. Two 6★ quests, both available from HR 31:

  • Glittering Blades in the Desert — 6★, Windward Plains, HR 31, target: Seregios. Capcom describes it as the quest "for obtaining a large number of weapon decorations."
  • A Chilling Encounter — 6★, Ice Wastes, HR 31, target: Blangonga Alpha. Same promise, for armor decorations.

The habit to build: don't launch these at random. First check which slot is holding back your build. If your weapon has three empty slots and your armor has none, grinding the Blangonga won't get you anywhere, even though that hunt is more comfortable than the Seregios.

Glowing Orbs and Luminous Stones: the talent lottery

Three undisclosed items are circulating in the catalog, and they don't serve the same purpose at all. The game is explicit in its descriptions, which avoids any misunderstanding:

  • Glowing Orb - Sword: "An orb whose hidden powers will be revealed once obtained. Becomes an offensive jewel." It drops from Tarantula in the Rain (5★, Scarlet Forest, HR 21, Lala Barina alpha).
  • Glowing Orb - Armor: same principle, but it gives a defensive jewel. It drops from Tyrants of the Sands (5★, Windward Plains, HR 9, Doshaguma).
  • Luminous Stone: "Contains a secret power. Its nature must be revealed before it can be used as a talisman." So it's an unidentified talisman, not a decoration.

"Tyrants of the Sands" deserves a special mention: it's the only orb quest accessible as early as HR 9, against a regular Doshaguma — not an alpha version — in the game's opening region. For a player who just finished the story, or who arrives via the Prologue demo and then switches to the full game, it's by far the best time-to-reward ratio in the catalog.

Luminous Stones, meanwhile, are reserved for the top tier: five 9★ quests, all locked behind HR 100, each targeting a different alpha monster. Ultimate Berserker (Guardian Thunder Anjanath alpha, Wyveria Ruins), The White Wonder (Blangonga alpha, Ice Cliffs), The King of Apes (Ajarakan alpha, Oilwell Basin), Neighborly Complaint (Yian Kut-Ku alpha, Scarlet Forest), and Bloodthirsty Brute (Doshaguma alpha, Windward Plains). Five targets, five regions: pick whichever moveset gives you the least trouble, the announced loot is identical.

Leveling up your Hunter Rank without going in circles

Two quests exist solely for this purpose, and they're largely ignored because they don't reward any equipment:

  • Melancholy and Cruelty — 5★, Wyveria Ruins, HR 21, target: Guardian Doshaguma.
  • A Strange Riddle — 6★, Scarred Coast, HR 31, target: Xu Wu alpha.

Capcom describes both as quests "for obtaining a ton of Hunter Rank Points." In concrete terms, these are the two stepping stones to take if you're aiming for HR 100, which unlocks the entire upper end of the roster — the five Luminous Stone quests, the 10★ hunts, and the Challenge Quests. Alternating them with the orb quests avoids repeating the same hunt three times in a row.

Artian materials and emblems: the HR 100 circuit

Three pipelines feed the Artian forge, and they're quite distinct.

Base materials come from The King of a Distant Sky (6★, Wyveria Ruins, HR 31, Guardian Rathalos alpha), presented as the Artian materials quest, and from Claws Without a Master (8★, Wyveria Ruins, HR 41, Guardian Doom Odogaron alpha), which hands out old weapon fragments — described in-game as "part of an ancient weapon whose nature will be revealed once obtained." Two quests in the same region: this is the duo to chain together if you're building an Artian weapon set from scratch.

Reinforcement, meanwhile, depends on five 10★ hunts reserved for very high level players. Capcom announces that each one offers "emblems forged in battle" used to reinforce Gogma Artian weapons, plus a chance to obtain a damaged charm. The circuit: Desert Sovereign (Arch-tempered Rey Dau, Windward Plains), Convocation from Another World (Arch-tempered Uth Duna, Scarlet Forest), Spawn of the Dark Corners (Arch-tempered Nu Udra, Oilwell Basin), The Toll of the Eastern Frost (Arch-tempered Jin Dahaad, Iceshard Cliffs) and The Hope of the Ancients (Zoh Shia, Shrine of the Torch). All require HR 100.

What closes on August 19: Gravios Blockade

This is the only time-limited quest currently active. Gravios Blockade — 6★, Ruins of Wyveria... wait, Wounded Hollow, HR 31, target: Tempered Gravios — started on August 7 and ends on August 19 at 00:59 (UTC+1), i.e. 1:59 a.m. Paris time. Capcom describes it as a quest "that lets you obtain ingredients from various regions" usable for your grilling. Nothing decisive for a build, but it's the fastest way to stock a pantry without touring all five regions on foot.

If the format doesn't appeal to you, note that Tempered Gravios remains huntable after August 19 via Guaranteed Good Find (8★, Wounded Hollow, HR 41), a permanent quest that requires hunting two in a row and rewards the Mad Plunderer's Pickaxe and Miner's Pickaxe weapons.

On August 19, two new quests take over: Congalala Snack Time (4★, Scarlet Forest, HR 9, target: Congalala), focused on toadstool mucus for cooking, running until August 26; and above all the Free Challenge Quest The Blackest of Flames (9★, Oilwell Basin, HR 100, Arch-tempered Nu Udra), a race against the clock open until September 2, whose exclusive layered accessory will be distributed later. If you're aiming for this last one, the next ten days are the time to fine-tune your anti-fire set.

Organizing your runs without losing your whole Sunday

Three habits are enough to make the catalog manageable.

Trust the Quest Counter's sorting. Update 1.042 changed the display so that quests that are actually available move to the top of the list. This detail, buried in the patch notes, changes everything: you no longer have to scroll through sixty entries to spot what's active.

Group by region, not by reward. The Windward Plains concentrate Sandy Rodeo, A Loose Tongue, Tyrants of the Sand, Glittering Blades in the Desert, and Bloodthirsty Brute. The Ruins of Wyveria line up Panic in Wyveria, King of a Distant Sky, Clawless Claws, Melancholy and Cruelty, and Ultimate Berserker. Two blocks, two evenings, and you've got the essential consumables.

Play offline when your connection is unreliable. That's the concrete contribution of update 1.042: these quests no longer require you to be connected in order to be accepted. Servers under maintenance, a temperamental router, a shared connection: this entire guide remains fully doable solo with Support Hunters.

One last methodological point: check your Hunter Rank before planning anything. The cutoff sits at HR 100, and it's a hard one — below that, the whole «"luminous stones"», «"emblems"» and supreme alpha section is closed off to you. If you're far from it, start with Melancholy and Cruelty and A Strange Puzzle, stack up your spheres along the way, and save the five 10★ emblem hunts for later. The schedule won't budge: that's precisely what update 1.042 changed.

Faced with this catalog of sixty quests, what's your top priority?

Frequently asked questions

Which quest should I choose if my Hunter Rank doesn't allow 6★ quests yet?
First level up via Sandy Rodeo (1★) for basic spheres, then Loose Lips (5★) once you reach HR 21. Don't linger on the first one: it gives little reward, but it quickly unlocks access to more profitable quests.
Glowing orbs or luminous stones: where should I start?
Glowing orbs from HR 9 onward with Sandy Tyrants against Doshaguma — it's accessible right after the story. Luminous stones require HR 100 and are reserved for the five 9★ alpha quests: at that point in the game, your monster choice depends purely on your combat preferences.
How can I quickly reach HR 100 without going in circles?
Alternate between Melancholy and Cruelty (5★, HR 21) and A Strange Riddle (6★, HR 31) for Rank Points, while running sphere quests in parallel. This lets you progress on several fronts without repeating the same hunt three times in a row.
Do Artian materials really require two different quests?
Yes: A King from a Distant Sky for base materials at HR 31, and Claws Without a Master for old weapon fragments at HR 41. Chain them together in the same region to save on travel time.
Is Gravios Barrage really the only active limited-time quest?
Exactly. It runs until August 19 at 00:59 UTC+1 and it's the fastest way to stock up your pantry with a variety of ingredients. Afterward, Guaranteed Good Pickings (8★, HR 41) offers a permanent equivalent, but it takes much longer.

Key takeaways

  • Four permanent quests are enough to cover every tier of armor spheres, from HR 2 to HR 41.
  • Pick your quests based on the slot that's holding back your build, not the monster you like best.
  • Sandy Tyrants at HR 9 remains the best entry point for glowing orbs and early-game farming.
  • The five 10★ forged emblem quests require HR 100, but it's the only way to access Artian upgrading.
  • Gravios Barrage closes on August 19: it's your last chance to quickly fill up your pantry.
