Monster Hunter Wilds: September 2026 Event Quests — three weeks of ingredients and the free Challenge Quest closing on September 2 at 1:59 AM
In brief
In September 2026, Monster Hunter Wilds offers three Event Quests over three weeks to farm cooking ingredients: mud shrimp, silk eggs, and Sild garlic. Meanwhile, the free Challenge Quest "The Blackest Flames" permanently closes on September 2 at 1:59 AM, with no other one scheduled afterward.
The weekly rotation of Monster Hunter Wilds's Event Quests switches over on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 2:00 AM, Paris time. At that very minute, it's also when the Free Challenge Quest "The Blackest Flames", live since August 19, leaves the game. Two deadlines, one single time slot.
This schedule isn't circulating anywhere else: Capcom hasn't posted anything on the game's Steam feed since the preview of version 1.042.00.02, on August 14, 2026. The only source giving names, regions, required ranks and rewards is the official Event Quests page, in its French version. We reopened it on September 1, 2026 and noted down every line.
The displayed time zone is Paris time, and it's verifiable
A methodological note, because it governs everything else. The page includes a time zone selector and opens by default on UTC+2. This isn't an assumption on our part: Capcom itself links this time zone to a list of countries that opens with "France". The times shown on this page are therefore already in French summer time.
Cross-check: by forcing the display to UTC+0, the same quests shift from 2:00 AM to 12:00 AM and from 1:59 AM to 11:59 PM the previous day. The two-hour gap is confirmed, and the conversion is made by the publisher, not by us. The switchover consistently falls on a Wednesday at 2:00 AM: August 19, August 26, September 2, September 9, September 16. A "weekly" quest therefore covers seven days minus one minute.
The three weeks, line by line
Here is everything Capcom has scheduled through September 16, 2026. Titles, regions and items are copied directly from the French page.
| Quest | Diff. | Region | Rank | Objective | Window (Paris time) | What Capcom announces |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rompopolo Riled | 4★ | Oilwell Basin | HR 9 or higher | Hunt: Rompopolo | 08/26 2:00 AM → 09/02 1:59 AM | Mud Shrimp |
| Nerscylla at the Summit | 4★ | Iceshard Cliffs | HR 9 or higher | Hunt: Nerscylla | 09/02 2:00 AM → 09/09 1:59 AM | Silky Eggs |
| Elusive | 5★ | Ruins of Wyveria | HR 21 or higher | Hunt: Xu Wu | 09/09 2:00 AM → 09/16 1:59 AM | Sild Garlic |
| The Blackest Flames (Free Challenge Quest) | 9★ | Oilwell Basin | HR 100 or higher | Eliminate: Apex Nu Udra Supremus | 08/19 2:00 AM → 09/02 1:59 AM | an exclusive accessory, delivered later |
Two remarks about this table. The first: the next two weeks each line up only one quest, whereas the current week offers two. The second: the schedule doesn't put a number on anything. It announces "Mud Shrimp", never a quantity per hunt, and sets no repetition limit. Any quantity you read elsewhere doesn't come from the publisher.

Three ingredients, one single spot on the plate
The three Event Quests of this period all aim at the same thing: filling the pantry. Capcom writes it identically for each one — "An Event Quest that lets you obtain Silky Eggs, which can be used as ingredients for your grilled dishes!"
The detail that matters isn't on the calendar, it's on the item cards in the French client. All three carry exactly the same note: "Goes with any dish." That's the wording for additional ingredients, the single slot that gets added to the ration. Practical consequence: you can't stack a mud shrimp and a silky egg in the same meal. Farming all three isn't about combining their effects in one plate, but about choosing the right ingredient before each hunt.

Neither the calendar nor these cards indicate which meal skill each ingredient triggers, however. We detailed that correspondence in our meal guide from August 11; the point here lies elsewhere.
"The Blackest Flames" closes on September 2, and nothing is scheduled after it
The 9★ Free Challenge Quest has occupied the Oilwell Basin since August 19, requires HR 100, and requires defeating the Extremoth Nu Udra. Its official summary comes down to two sentences: "A Free Challenge Quest where you race against the clock. Take part to earn an exclusive accessory!" — then, in small print, "Note: the accessory will be distributed at a later date."
That second sentence is the real piece of information. Completing the quest before the deadline doesn't put anything in your inventory that same day: the reward will arrive later, on a date Capcom hasn't published. So the only useful move before Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 1:59 AM is to take part, not to wait around for an item.
And after that? The "Next Week" and "The Week After" tabs contain no "Free Challenge Quests" section at all. The block isn't empty: it doesn't exist. Across the following two weeks, only one Event Quest remains per tab. Capcom hasn't announced anywhere that the format is being discontinued; this is our reading of the calendar as of September 1, 2026, and the page itself warns that "quest-related content is subject to change or cancellation without notice." A Free Challenge Quest could therefore reappear without warning.
These quests can only be taken online
Here's something update 1.042 from August 4 may have made you forget. The four current limited-time quests all carry the same icon, whose caption is unambiguous: "Indicates an Event Quest that can only be accepted online." Permanent quests, on the other hand, carry none.
The offline access granted by 1.042 applies to the permanent catalog, not the weekly rotation. A delicious detail: the second caption line, "Indicates an Event Quest that can be accepted online or offline," still exists in the page's source code, but it's commented out there, so it's never displayed.
If you don't want ingredients
Nothing but cooking is running in September. Catching up goes through the permanent catalogue, which we recounted on the page on September 1, 2026: 60 Event Quests and 10 Challenge Quests remain continuously accessible, a total unchanged since our reading on August 9. Two entries there meet the most common needs, without depending on a window: “Endless Sky and Sea” (7★, Ruined Wood, HR 41 or higher) for heavy armor spheres, and “Glittering Blades in the Desert” (6★, Windward Plains, HR 31 or higher, target Seregios) for weapon jewels. We reviewed this catalogue on August 10.
In practice
Three things to sort out before the switchover on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 2:00 AM, Paris time.
- Before 1:59 AM: wrap up “The Blackest Flames” if you're HR 100. The accessory won't drop right away, but the window itself closes for good — and no free Challenge Quest is scheduled until September 16.
- Also before 1:59 AM: “Rompopolo's Wrath” is the last announced chance to stock up on mud shrimp. It's just a 4★ at the Oilwell Basin, open from HR 9.
- From 2:00 AM: “Nerscylla at the Summit” takes over at the Iceshard Cliffs, still a 4★ and HR 9. A week later, “Elusive” steps up a notch — 5★, HR 21, Xu Wu, Ruins of Wyveria.
One last warning, and it comes from Capcom: “The date of the daylight saving time change varies by region. Please note that the displayed time may differ from the actual time.” For France, the switch to winter time happens on October 25, 2026, well after the window described here — that's our own calculation, not data from the publisher. For September, then, the times above are to be taken at face value.

Key takeaways
- The 9★ free Challenge Quest "The Blackest Flames" expires on September 2 at 1:59 AM with no other free Challenge Quest in sight until September 16.
- The three event ingredients share the same meal slot: their effects cannot be stacked, so you have to choose depending on the hunt.
- Each week changes the target and the region — Rompopolo at the Oilwell Basin, then Nerscylla at the Iceshard Cliffs, then Xu Wu at the Ruins of Wyveria.
- Capcom never announces the quantities to farm, nor the number of possible runs: only the ingredient names and the time windows matter.
- The free Challenge Quest's accessory will arrive "at a later date": finishing before September 2 gives you nothing right away.
