Genshin Impact Imaginarium Theater September 2026 Guide
In brief
The Imaginarium Theater returns on September 1, 2026 with Hydro, Electro, and Dendro as the designated elements. Six opening characters (two per element) will receive fantastical blessings, four cameos will round out the cast outside the trio's elements, and four new dramatic quirks will be accessible through the exchange at Loupin's.
HoYoverse has dated the next edition of Genshin Impact's Imaginarium Theater: it will be available on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The three designated elements will be Hydro, Electro and Dendro. The information is published in black and white in section XI of the version 7.0 "The Merciless Eternal Winter" update details, posted online on August 12.
The announced content comes in four blocks: six Opening Characters, four Cameo Characters, a new Dramatic Nuance for four characters, obtainable through exchange with the NPC Loupin, and an update to the Painted Echo for two additional characters. None of this is playable yet: the edition doesn't open for another eleven days.
A warning before going any further. HoYoverse has communicated neither the star count, nor the difficulty tiers, nor the rewards of this edition in the text of its announcement. We are therefore sticking strictly to what is written, and we are not putting figures on anything else. Also pay attention to the name: the official English label is indeed "Imaginarium Theater". Our guide from July 27, dedicated to the previous edition, used "Imaginary Theater," a form that doesn't exist in the game — the elemental roster for September 1 is entirely new in any case.
Hydro, Electro and Dendro: what the trio imposes on your account
The three designated elements define the color of the run. That's the first number to check in your inventory: how many Hydro, Electro and Dendro characters have you actually built, and not just unlocked?
The friction point is easy to identify. Version 7.0 revolves around Snezhnaya, and therefore around Odette's Cryo and Alyosha's Electro, the four-star character offered by the Archon quest. Of the three designated elements for September 1, only one — Electro — directly benefits from the characters that the current version has put in everyone's hands. Hydro and Dendro, on the other hand, rely entirely on what you already had in reserve.
Good news, however, on the combinations side: the trio pairs up two by two without any gaps. Hydro and Dendro, Hydro and Electro, Dendro and Electro each form a reactive pair. None of the three possible pairs is barren, which leaves real latitude in building your team.
The August 12 update notes also let slip a useful detail. In the list of fixes, HoYoverse patches a stacking issue on a theater "Brilliant Blessing" named "Bloom - Extreme Condensation." At least one blessing in the mode therefore bears the name of an elemental reaction, and that one is a Hydro-Dendro reaction. On an edition that specifically designates these two elements, there's every reason to think it remains in rotation. This is a deduction on our part, not an announcement from HoYoverse, and we present it as such.
The six Opening Characters and their Fantastic Blessings
HoYoverse is explicit about the mechanism: "During the Imaginarium Theater's availability period, the corresponding Opening Characters will obtain Fantastic Blessings." So the six names below are the ones you should prioritize building up if you own them. The cast is perfectly balanced, with two characters per designated element.
| Character (official EN label) | Element | Role in the edition |
|---|---|---|
| Columbina · Return of the Night's Star | Hydro | Opening character |
| Xingqiu · Young Gallant | Hydro | Opening character |
| Cyno · Judge of Secrets | Electro | Opening character |
| Kuki Shinobu · Mender of Afflictions | Electro | Opening character |
| Lauma · Sacred Ode to the Eternal Moon | Dendro | Opening character |
| Kaveh · Empyrean Reflection | Dendro | Opening character |
| Odette · Swirling Snow | Cryo | Cameo character |
| Sandrone · Mirror Analysis | Cryo | Cameo character |
| Sucrose · 100% Natural Alchemist | Anemo | Cameo character |
| Nicole · Inner Clamor | Pyro | Cameo character |
Two things stand out in this list. First, the split is strict: two names per designated element, with none of the three favored on paper. Second, the announcement nowhere requires owning all six: it simply states who receives the fantastic blessings. If you only have three or four of them, those are the ones to level up before the end of the month.

All four cameos fall outside the designated elements
The list of cameo characters is short and perfectly consistent: Odette · Swirling Snow (Cryo), Sandrone · Mirror Analysis (Cryo), Sucrose · 100% Natural Alchemist (Anemo), and Nicole · Inner Clamor (Pyro).
None of the four belongs to Hydro, Electro, or Dendro. The cameos are therefore, by design, the entry point for the elements left out by the designated trio. HoYoverse does not specify in its announcement what this status actually changes in-game, and we won't assume it in their place.
There is, however, a scheduling consequence worth mentioning right away. Phase 1 wishes, including Odette's banner, close on September 1st at 5:59 PM Europe server time, or 6:59 PM Paris time — exactly the day the new edition of the Theater opens. If you were hesitating to spend your last Primogems on Odette thinking she'd be useful in the Theater: she enters as a cameo, not as an opening character. Pull for her kit, not for that reason.
Four new Dramatic Nuances to exchange with Loupin
The second part of the announcement concerns the Dramatic Nuances. Once the new edition begins, four characters each receive a new one, obtainable by exchange from the NPC Loupin:
- Flins · Strange Play of Light and Shadow (Electro)
- Columbina · Return of the Night's Star (Hydro)
- Kirara · Rooftop Trickster (Dendro)
- Illuga · Fiery Heart of Terrifying Nights (Geo)
Three of the four align with the designated elements, one per color: Flins for Electro, Columbina for Hydro, Kirara for Dendro. The fourth, Illuga, is Geo — thus outside the trio for this edition. It's the only name on the list that isn't explained by the September 1st roster.
Also note that Columbina is the only character to appear twice in the announcement: she is both an opening character and the beneficiary of a new dramatic nuance. If you own her, she's the most cost-effective starting point for this edition.
What HoYoverse doesn't say: the terms of the exchange. Neither the currency, the quantity, nor any potential cap appear in the announcement text. You'll need to open Loupin's shop on September 1st to find out.
Painted Echo adds Tartaglia and Xiao
Last block, shorter: the update to the Painted Echo. New challenges and new echo cosmetics are being added for Tartaglia · Childe (Hydro) and Xiao · Yaksha Guardian (Anemo).
An honest clarification on the date: HoYoverse places this paragraph in section XI, titled "September 1st Update," but writes it using the phrase "after the version 7.0 update." Both readings are defensible. We're going with September 1st, consistent with the section title, while noting that the wording leaves room for interpretation.

The calendar to note
| Deadline | Date | Europe server time | Paris time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Closing of Phase 1 wishes (including Odette's banner) | Tuesday, September 1, 2026 | 5:59 PM | 6:59 PM |
| New edition of the Imaginarium Theater | Tuesday, September 1, 2026 | not announced | not announced |
| Dramatic nuances available from Loupin | after the start of the new edition | not announced | not announced |
September 1st is therefore a busy day: it closes one banner phase and opens another, and it switches over the theater. If you plan to do both, prepare your pulls beforehand, not on the day itself.
What to do before Tuesday, September 1st
Eleven days remain. Here is the order of priority that follows strictly from the published facts:
- Take stock of your Hydro, Electro, and Dendro characters. Count the ones that are actually built up, with weapons and artifacts, not the ones sitting at level 20. That's the only measure that matters.
- Prioritize leveling up the opening characters you already own. These are the six names the announcement designates as beneficiaries of the fantastic blessings for the entire duration of the edition.
- Identify your weakest element among the three. The one for which you have neither of the two opening characters is the area to watch. Look at what else your account can field in that color before you find yourself short.
- Don't change your pull plans for the theater. Odette and Sandrone appear there as cameos, not as opening characters. The September 1st closure at 6:59 PM Paris time should be decided on other grounds.
As for the rest — stars, difficulties, rewards, the cost of dramatic subtleties at Loupin's — HoYoverse has not published anything in writing to date. We will update this guide as soon as the in-game announcement for the new edition is broadcast, which usually happens when it opens.
