Crimson Desert Tip: Removing the Spear from the Dragon's Back
In brief
Removing the spear from the dragon's back in Crimson Desert requires preparation and precision. You'll first need to reach endurance level 5, head to Urdavah, jump onto the dragon while it's flying, then maintain your balance before triggering the Palm Strike to complete the quest.
In Crimson Desert, one of the many quests on offer involves removing the spear lodged in the back of a majestic dragon. Let's take a look at the steps to follow to achieve this.
Preparing for the Climb
Before setting off on this journey, check your stamina level: you must be at least level 5 in stamina to stay attached to the dragon without falling, especially given the harsh weather conditions in Crimson Desert.
Make sure your gear is in good condition. Quality weapons and armor will be an undeniable bonus should you end up crossing swords.
Finding the Dragon and Jumping onto Its Back
To start this quest, head to Urdavah, a fortress in Tashkalp. This is where you'll encounter the dragon. Once you reach Urdavah, use the long bridge to move toward the area where the dragon appears. Face north and check whether it's present. If you don't see it, don't hesitate to reset the instance.
When the dragon is close enough to the bridge, jump and glide by pressing the appropriate button. Align your wings with the dragon's head, and approach it to grab onto its back.
You can try to hang directly onto its back, or use your level 2 Axiom Force to grab the dragon. If you can't get a good grip, try steering and flying toward the dragon. This will let you climb straight onto its back.
To stay on the dragon's back, press the appropriate button to hold on each time it turns or dives.
Note
Pay extremely close attention to the dragon's movements. This will help you properly adjust your position to stay on its back.
Removing the Spear
Once you manage to stay on its back, it's time to remove the spear. The game will ask you to focus in order to purify the evil that has afflicted it. Hold down the associated button to trigger the Palm Strike. This should then create a sphere that glows on its back.
As soon as the sphere appears, release the button to trigger the cutscene, and you'll complete the mission.
