REN-X Iron Wing Crimson Desert: defeating this boss and its Mechanic Gloves

The REN-X Iron Wing is among the toughest fights in the Delesian Territory in Crimson Desert. This mechanical boss soars high in the sky, out of reach of your regular wings, and it doesn't forgive improvisation. You'd better come prepared: this flying colossus demands precision, timing, and a good dose of patience. Here's how to bring it down without burning through too many potions.

Reaching the REN-X Iron Wing

The first problem before you even land a hit: reaching the boss. It flies at an altitude your wings can't cover, so forget the classic jump from a cliff. The most reliable solution remains to fly on Dragonback to join it directly in the air. It's much more comfortable than a blind jump.

You can also jump from the Eternal Corridor, but honestly, this method is risky. If you miss your landing on the target, you'll have to go back to the starting point and start all over again. Suffice to say the Dragon remains the safest option, especially if you're attempting this fight several times before finding the right pattern.

Preparation and combat

Before you jump in, equip your best weapons and stock up on healing potions. This high-altitude fight doesn't leave much room for error: a fall or bad timing on the cannons can quickly turn into a bloodbath. Also take the time to observe the boss's movements before fully committing - its attacks follow fairly readable patterns once you've spotted them.

Once ready, use your dragon to approach the REN-X Iron Wing. A small piece of advice that really changes the game: fire fireballs at its cannons before landing. This considerably reduces the damage you'll take once on the ground. Neglect this step, and you'll expose yourself to constant fire throughout the following phase.

Once landed, get off your dragon and engage in the actual fight. The absolute priority: destroy the six green orbs arranged on the boss's wings. To do this, the combo to remember is R1 + Triangle then R2. It requires precision and good timing sense — don't expect to succeed on your first try if this is your first attempt. Once the six orbs are destroyed, an opening appears at the center of the boss's body. Inside awaits the seventh and final green orb, the one that truly seals its fate.

Destroying this last orb triggers a cutscene that ends the fight. There's nothing more satisfying than watching this mechanical mass collapse after several failed attempts. Following the defeat of the REN-X Iron Wing, you receive two rewards that will prove very useful for the rest of your exploration:

• REN-X Surveillance Log: it reveals several locations on the map of the Delesian Territory, handy for guiding your next explorations.
• Mechanic Gloves: they allow you to unlock locked doors, opening access to previously inaccessible areas.

The Mechanic Gloves cannot be upgraded, but that's not really an issue: their usefulness remains intact from beginning to end of the game. Just equip them from your inventory, like any regular item. Then approach a locked door and press X/A to open it without forcing it.

Expect a 10-minute cooldown between each use of the gloves. Plan your unlocks accordingly if you intend to explore several closed areas in a row — no point rushing to a door if the cooldown hasn't run out yet.
