But to get the most out of them in combat, you need a suitable saddle. And finding the right saddlery at the right time isn't always easy. This guide covers every location, every vendor, and every price.

Saddles by the numbers

Saddles aren't purely cosmetic. They give your mount a defense bonus, which can clearly make the difference when you're out riding through a hostile zone and your steed starts taking hits.

• Standard mount: the vast majority of saddles provide a +10 defense bonus.
• Special mount: certain creatures like cuckoos or camels benefit from a saddle offering a +20 bonus. That's not nothing.

Honestly, if you regularly use a special mount, investing in its saddle as soon as the saddlery becomes accessible is a priority. The cost in silver coins is reasonable, and the defensive gain is well worth it.

Saddlery locations

Hernand Saddlery

The first saddlery accessible in the adventure, and one of the easiest to find. It's located north of the town of Hernand, easily spotted on the map. The vendor Annabella offers saddles for wolves and bears - two of the most commonly used mounts early and mid-game. Head over there as soon as you're in the area.

Hernand's Equinsher Saddlery

Still around Hernand, but this time on the southeast side. Bruna holds the reins here - so to speak. She offers saddles for wolves and deer. If you've captured a deer and are looking to equip it, this is your must-stop shop. Fair prices, immediate access.

Calphade Saddlery

Careful: this one is conditional. The Calphade saddlery only opens its doors after liberating Calphade Castle in Chapter 6. It's then located at the training camp, north of the town. Driana sells saddles for bears and, most importantly, cuckoos - and at 28 silver coins for the cuckoo saddle, you might as well start saving in advance. The +20 defense bonus is worth the investment.

Demeniss Saddlery

A somewhat particular situation here. The town of Demeniss remains hostile until the end of Chapter 8. But if you're the type to brave danger for a saddle, know that it's hidden in the northern district of the town. Fiona awaits you there with saddles for cuckoos and deer. A second source for the cuckoo saddle, useful if Driana is out of reach at this stage.

Pailune Saddlery

Locked until the end of Chapter 7. Once the Pailune camp is opened, the saddlery can be found in its northern district. Eldred has stock for bears and alpine ibex - the latter saddle, at 1.80 silver coins, remains one of the cheapest in the catalog for a rather effective mountain mount.

Delesyie Saddlery

A specialist in a single beast: the warthog. The saddlery is located south of the town of Delesyie. Randelle is your contact, for 2.50 silver coins. Not the most glamorous mount, but the warthog has its fans, and they know why.

Tommaso Saddlery

Head to the town of Tashkalp, eastern district. Alina runs things here, and she deals exclusively in saddles for giant iguanas. These creatures are genuinely charming to ride, and at 2.40 silver coins per saddle, gearing up won't break the bank. If you've got an iguana in the stable, don't leave without stopping by.

Varnia Saddlery

The furthest one of the bunch. The Varnia saddlery is located in the northeast of the map, deep in a desert zone that requires a fair bit of travel time. But if you're riding a camel, you don't have a choice: this is the place, run by Zara. And at 28 silver coins, it's the same price as the cuckoo saddle - the cost of a truly special mount.
