How to get a fishing rod in Windrose
This rod can be crafted by using a specific recipe:
- Five pieces of hardwood: These materials can be gathered in mountainous areas.
- Three ropes: These items are easy to create, ropes can be crafted from plant fibers.
- Two mountain iron ingots: They can be smelted in a furnace.
A level 2 workbench is also required to assemble your rod. As soon as it's ready, simply press the toolbar to equip it, and set off on your adventure.

How to fish in Windrose
Head to a body of water and cast your line. You'll see a bobber making small ripples on the surface. Watch out for splashes: they indicate that a fish has bitten the hook. That's the moment to reel in your line to catch the fish by jumping onto the sandbank if the fish is at the right distance. And there you go, you've made your first catch!
List of fish
Windrose currently offers (the game is in early access, so this list may evolve) ten different varieties of fish. Basic fish can be found in almost all waters, while rare and epic species can only be caught at significant depths. Here's an overview of the fish you can encounter:
- Blue Tang Fish
- Pink Wrasse
- Sapphire Wrasse
- Moon Angelfish
- Queen Angelfish
- Reef Snapper
- Emerald Blue Fish (Rare)
- Red Snapper (Rare)
- Giant Barracuda (Epic)
- Giant Mackerel (Epic)
Each fish can be used and has its own characteristics in different recipes.

Turning fish into fillets
Once you've caught a fish, it's essential to turn it into fish fillets. To do this, simply select it in your inventory, then choose the transform option. The bigger the fish, the more fillets it will yield.
