Where Winds Meet Nine Deadly Ways Sect: How to Join

The obscure sect known as the Nine Deadly Paths stands apart from the other factions in Where Winds Meet by basing its entire modus operandi on cunning, deception, and disguise. To become a member, you'll need to deceive others, or fall victim to their deception. This brief guide details the recruitment methods for joining the Nine Deadly Paths sect.

The different methods for joining the Nine Deadly Paths

Members of the Nine Deadly Paths excel in the art of camouflage and infiltration among the recruitment agents of other sects. To infiltrate them, you'll need to spot these infiltrators and join in the deceptive game they're running.

There are two paths:

The Heavenly Well Quest

This method follows a number of steps:

• You need to locate the San Qian server in the Harvest Village and ask him about the Heavenly Well recruiters
• Pay 200 coins to get the information.
• Follow the quest marker to the Elder of the Heavenly Well, beneath the great elm tree.
• In the dialogue, choose to give 999 gold coins.
• Go see his "friend" Zhang Yi Hao, near a chest, on the neighboring mountain.
• Use Heavenly Snatch to steal the "Great Pile of Jewels"
• Return to see the Elder and hand over the loot from the theft
• When he declares that he belongs to the Nine Deadly Paths, choose the option "Fine, I'll go with the flow" to finalize the recruitment.

Note

If you'd rather join the Heavenly Well instead of the Nine Deadly Paths, choose "Not happy! I give up!" when the Elder reveals his true nature. But be careful, if you kill him during the ensuing fight, this path to the Nine Deadly Paths will be locked forever...

The Midnight Blades Quest

Outside and north of Halo Peak, in the realm of Qinghe (Land of Sundara), find the Gravely Wounded Swordsman on the rocky outcrop, near the ferocious Banjos wolves. Follow the blood-soaked trail on the ground, above the cave, to discover Icchantika, the Midnight Blades Ferryman. In this dialogue, choose: "My heart is the Heart of Asura" so that Icchantika gives you a token to be bloodied by killing a man.

Once that's done, go back to see him and offer him the Red Token, and you'll receive a missive from the Grand Elder of the Midnight Blades asking you to send him money. Then follow the quest marker to the meeting point with the Midnight Blades, and choose the options "Present the Sect's letter" and "Accept the welcome gift".

The Red Token can be obtained in the Harvest Village from the Honest Merchant.
