Troubled Fate Where Winds Meet: Step-by-step Guide
In brief
The « Troubled Fate » quest in Where Winds Meet invites you to investigate the assassination of General Wang Qing by collecting clues at the General's Sanctuary. By taking on the role of Uncle Jiang and untangling the Executioner's lies, you'll uncover the true story behind this tragic murder and obtain prestigious rewards.
In Where Winds Meet, the “Troubled Fate” quest leads you to investigate the tragic death of General Wang Qing. Here is a concise recap of the various steps that will lead you to the completion of this quest.
The key steps of the Troubled Fate quest
To begin your investigation, head to the “Bamboo Retreat” teleport point in the eastern part of the Verdant region of Qinghe. Once there, defeat three stray wolves in the courtyard. After taking them down, examine in detail the bloodied sack containing a head and read the bloodied note “Challenge to the Dog” stuck on the broken wooden door forming the entrance to the hut.

Then enter the hut and interact with the wardrobe to put on Uncle Jiang’s disguise. This step is crucial for the rest of your investigation. Switch to the ZI hour (the Rat icon in the main menu), then teleport to the Teleport Stone at the General’s Shrine. As you approach the Shrine, you will be attacked by the Executioner before he flees, allowing you access to the inside of the Temple, where you can explore several decisive clues: the two kneeling statues in front of its entrance, the large demon statue facing them, the note placed on the table at the entrance, a confession letter near the General’s statue, and finally the table right beneath the feet of this statue.

The next step is to link all these clues together to determine who is truly the General’s killer. The connections between what the Executioner claimed and the killer also need to be untangled, and the discovery of the statues is a clue to be linked to Wang Qing, to the way the killer viewed the General, to the killer’s route to the shrine, and to the path he might take next.

The rest and the ending
It is in the Autumn Harvest Village that your investigation leads you back to the Executioner. As the revealing dialogue unfolds, it turns out that Liu Musan, a village son, seems slightly disturbed. The Executioner then tasks you with bringing wine, as another opportunity to flesh out Uncle Jiang’s past and his relationship with the General.

The conclusion of this quest follows a series of tragic events that sheds light on the true story of Uncle Jiang and the General.
By completing “Troubled Fate”, you can receive several precious final rewards, such as the Hero title “Guest of the Past”, as well as Echo Jades, Jade Fish, Enlightenment points, Qinghe Exploration points, experience for your character, coins, and finally a highly rare accessory: the Red Fish Kite.
