How to Join the Midnight Blade Sect

To join this powerful faction, you'll need to head to the far north of Qinghe in the Halo Peak region, in Sundara. To become part of the faction, follow these steps:

Locate a dying swordsman lying on the rocks in the aforementioned area. Speak to this dying warrior who, in his final moments, tells you he was killed by the Midnight Blades.

After he dies, follow the trail of blood that will lead you to a field of corpses. As you approach the center of this grim scene, a change in the objective marker kicks in, and you're directed to Icchantika, the Midnight Blade Ferryman, sitting cross-legged on a nearby vantage point.

During your conversation with Icchantika, say "My heart is that of an Asura," and the Ferryman will hand you a token, telling you to "stain it with blood" to join the sect. Your task is to kill any character, whether NPC or player.

Once the task is done, go back to Icchantika and select the option "Inherit a karmic burden, enter the sect," then return the token to him, and you'll be immediately inducted into the Midnight Blade sect. As a reward, you'll be granted the sect's signature weapon, the Infernal Twin Blades.

Note

Be careful not to hand the Red Token to Icchantika, as this would lead you to the Nine Deadly Paths sect instead of the Midnight Blades.

Progression and Advancement Within the Faction

To progress in rank within the Midnight Blades, you need to regularly open the Sect menu and select "Status." There you'll find the objectives to complete in order to reach the next rank.

Note

You can join the sect starting at level 10, but PvP access only unlocks at level 22.

How to Leave the Midnight Blades

To leave this faction, open the Sect menu from the title screen and select, at the bottom right, the option "Betray the Master." You'll be expelled from the sect but will need to go through a "Severance" trial.

These Severance trials are forced battles that will start automatically (it's impossible to trigger them via the Trials menu). Afterward, you'll keep nothing tied to your status, reputation, or merit with the sect, but you'll keep the items purchased from the sect's shop and the martial arts you've learned.

As a reminder, each sect in Where Winds Meet has its own shop where you can buy unique items and outfits, so it's a good idea to do your shopping before leaving a sect for good.

Note that it's still possible to rejoin the Midnight Blades after a 24-hour waiting period (in real time): to reunite with your former comrades, simply go to the Sects section from the main menu, select the Midnight Blades, and click "Join Sect" at the bottom right to begin the readmission process.
