Path of Exile 2 Genesis Tree: Crafting guide for Breach, Ruchened Blood and Matrix Gifts
In brief
The Tree of Genesis, planted at the Guardian's Monastery, has become the most precise crafting system in Path of Exile 2 since 0.5.0. Powered by Ruchened's Blood and Matrix Gifts, it allows the creation of targeted jewellery with modifiers unobtainable elsewhere, with no respec cost whatsoever.
Since the 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients update, the Breach is no longer just a simple wave mechanic: it's the most deterministic crafting system in Path of Exile 2. Everything converges on the Tree of Genesis, planted in the Guardian's Monastery, and on two resources that can only be gathered in Breaches — Ruchené's Blood and Matrix Gifts.
The detail that changes everything: Catalysts no longer drop from monsters. The official patch notes are explicit, they can now only be obtained via the Tree of Genesis. Every properly qualified gem circulating on the Runes of Aldur league market has therefore passed through this tree.
As of August 9, 2026, the game is still running on 0.5.4e: no new league content since 0.5.4 on June 25, a client fix on August 5 followed by a restart fix on August 6. The crafting meta is therefore fixed, and perfectly worth capitalizing on.
Where to find the Tree of Genesis and how to access it
The entry point is an Atlas hub zone, The Guardian's Monastery, located south of your starting position. The maps surrounding it all contain Breach encounters and feed into the Breach Atlas Tree, completely redesigned with 0.5.0.
On site, it's Ailith who entrusts you with the tree: stolen from the enemy and given to the Guardians by the Dreamer himself, it's withering for lack of Ruchené's Blood. It's up to you to feed it. Don't look for it during the campaign: it lives in the endgame, like Caer Tarth for Ritual or the Wilted Willow for Delirium.

Ruchené's Blood and Matrix Gifts: the two fuels
Ruchené's Blood (Hiveblood) drops from Ruchenés killed in Breaches. It is not tradeable, and its cap is 100,000 according to client data gathered by poe2db. An intensive farming session saturates it quickly: everything earned afterward is lost.
Matrix Gifts are the seeds. There are five of them, each placed in its own matrix — a right-click lets you retrieve it in case of a mistake.
| Matrix Gift | Matrix | What it grows |
|---|---|---|
| Sumptuous Matrix Gift | currency item matrix | currency items and Catalysts |
| Sigillary Matrix Gift | ring matrix | rings |
| Ornate Matrix Gift | amulet matrix | amulets |
| Strapped Matrix Gift | belt matrix | belts |
| Revealing Matrix Gift | breachstone matrix | Breachstone |
The Revealing Matrix Gift isn't picked up: it forms when your set of Breach Splinters reaches its maximum size. It's your tap for Breachstones, essential for revealing Breach Domains.
A little-known convenience feature, added with 0.5.3: Ctrl + click on the birth button switches the cursor to fast mode and lets you chain through an entire stock.
Four branches, no respec cost
The tree is divided into four allocatable branches — currency items, amulets, belts, rings — plus the breach stone matrix, which has no talents and only serves as a converter. In total, poe2db lists nearly 250 talents, which explains why a random allocation doesn't produce anything interesting.
Points come from three sources: progression with the Guardians of the Flame, the Breach final boss, and above all the Breach Atlas Tree, which contains dedicated nodes:
- Richesse grandissante: 5 additional talent points for the currency item matrix.
- Conception exquise: 5 additional points for the amulet matrix.
- Diverse Control: 2 additional points for each matrix.
Key point: respeccing is free. So you don't build "a" tree, but one tree per objective, reconfigured between batches.
⚠️ Worth noting: the talent names of the Genesis Tree remain in English in the French client, as do some of the nodes of the Breach Atlas Tree. The italicized names below are therefore indeed the ones displayed on screen.
Currency items branch: the most profitable one to start with
This is the branch to favor as long as your character can't afford to target high-end jewelry. A few structuring nodes:
- Cut Off the Lesser: the items produced are always Greater or Perfect. Take it as early as possible.
- Complete Refinement: you only produce Catalysts from now on. Formidable if that's the goal, catastrophic by accident.
- Rebirth: 10% chance that a birth doesn't consume Blood of the Ruchened.
- Wild Growth: 10% chance to produce 5 additional items of the same type.
- Nurture Divinity, Become Hollow, Riches Beget Riches: respective specializations on Divine Orbs, Orbs of Annulment, and Exalted Orbs.
- Crystallised Form and Reappropriated Offspring: 2% chance to produce a Breach Essence, 0.3% a Breachlord's Bag.
- Overgrown Greed: all items produced are converted into gold. Never use it while league farming.
Settle for Less and Virtueless illustrate the system's logic: they massively multiply one family of currency items while ruling out its high-end version (Perfect Jeweller's Orbs, Gemcutter's Prisms). At volume, the trade remains a winner.
Rings, amulets and belts: genuinely targeted crafting
All three jewelry branches work on the same stackable levers:
- Minimum modifier level: the "Minimum Modifier Level" nodes force a floor (20, then 30, 40, up to 60 on specific families such as Strength or elemental resistances).
- Rerolled values: "Modifier Values" rolls the values two extra times while keeping the best one.
- Maximum values: Premonition Fulfilled for suffixes, End of Mourning for prefixes.
- Free slot: Lament No More guarantees an empty prefix, Empty Feeling an empty suffix — to finish crafting the item by hand afterward.
It's also the only place to get certain bases. Update 0.5.0 added 6 ring bases, 4 amulet bases and 4 belt bases exclusive to the Breach Tree. On the ring side, Otherworldly Clutch gives a 10% chance to produce a Breach Ring (+20% to maximum Quality), and Refined Grip adds a 5% chance for it to come out as a Refined Breach Ring. The Lament, Portent, Absent and Corona amulets, like the Stalking, Sinew, Invoking and Forking belts, are not translated in the French client: keep these English names.
Finally, the tree unlocks modifier pools found nowhere else — poe2db lists 68 Creature-oriented ones and 83 Caster-oriented ones. Wrapped in Dread and Buried Alive guarantee two Creature modifiers on the item produced, while Branded With Hexes and Overtaken by Power do the same for the Caster. For a minion build, it's the shortest path to a piece of jewelry the trade site doesn't offer. Amulets can also inherit modifiers from the Breachlords: Tul, Uul-Netol, Xoph and Esh.
Farming Ribbon Blood without wasting time
The Breach Atlas Tree is your tap: eight "Breach Splinter Dupe Chance" nodes and eight "Hiveblood Quantity" nodes, each at +5%. Two others are worth a detour:
- Breeding Program: +100% chance to find the Breach Splinters you have selected. This is the node that turns generic farming into targeted farming.
- Moment of Risk: Breach Splinters have a 5% chance to drop from a tier higher per explicit modifier on the map — so run heavily modified maps.
Out on the field, filling a Breach's progress bar triggers a Stabilised Breach, with new challenges at the starting point and a chance for Vruun, Xesht's Marshal to appear — boosted by +100% via Frantic Invasion. Two talents revolve around him: Study the Chains (+50% chance he drops Lineage Supports) and Flesh Flower, which lets you bring his head back to the tree to unlock the Grasping Orchid.
In Breach Hives, every wall you burn down increases the number of monsters spawned by the central encounter: don't just stick to a straight path. Since 0.5.3, all monsters spawning there are at least Magic rarity, and Ailith has new abilities (Dreamer's Sight, Otherworldly Nemesis, Xesht's Fervour). Celestial Hives feature a multi-wave defense of Ailith, where your options are explicit: "Bombard the Ribbons", "Conjure a wall of the Dreamer's Flame", "Heal Ailith" or "Destroy the Hive walls around Ailith". Celestial Fortresses, meanwhile, house Tul and Esh, whose defeat grants the key to the Breach final boss.
Finally, in Solo Self-Found or in a private league, 0.5.4d fixed an annoying issue: Breach league resources and unlocks are now carried over during a migration using the "Migrate All" option.
The mistakes that cost the most
- Spreading points too thin. Four half-allocated branches produce mediocre results everywhere instead of one excellent item.
- Letting Ruchené's Blood saturate. 100,000, and everything else goes to waste.
- Forgetting to respec. It's free: keeping the tree "on Catalysts" when you want a Creature amulet is a pure loss.
- Taking an exclusion node out of reflex. Complete Refinement, Overgrown Greed, Known Value or Refuse Emptiness permanently close off options as long as they're allocated.
Where to start today
The shortest path, in one evening: join the Keeper's Monastery, take the quantity nodes on the Breach Atlas Tree before anything else, then Breeding Program. Devote your first points to the currency item branch with Cut Off the Lesser, and convert your Breach Splinters into Breachstones to open a Domain. Once your treasury is built up, respec toward the ring or amulet branch of your build: that's where the system beats the market.
The system hasn't changed since June 25, and no date has been announced for what comes next. What you invest now in mastering it will remain valid for the rest of the Runes of Aldur league.
