Path of Exile 2: signing up for 1.0 can earn you 5 microtransactions — but unsubscribing before the giveaway cancels everything
In brief
Path of Exile 2 is launching a free sign-up campaign for the 1.0 release on December 11, 2026: you'll receive at least one exclusive microtransaction, and up to five if community milestones are unlocked. Be warned, though, unsubscribing from the list before the codes are distributed completely cancels your reward.
Grinding Gear Games released the FAQ for the official launch registration of Path of Exile 2 on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. We reported the day before on the release date of 1.0, December 11, 2026, and the switch to free-to-play; here's how the accompanying registration campaign works, and the three rules that could cost you the reward.
What registration gets you
The system works as a community milestone: the more people register, the more cosmetics get unlocked for everyone.
| Situation | What you receive |
|---|---|
| Registration confirmed, no milestone reached | At least 1 microtransaction |
| All four community milestones unlocked | 5 microtransactions in total |
GGG specifies that these microtransactions are exclusive to this operation: "you will only be able to receive these microtransactions by participating in this promotional operation. They will not be available in the store." There will therefore be no paid catch-up session.
The offer is not reserved for newcomers: "all new players and existing players on all available platforms will be able to receive the rewards".
The process, in two minutes
- Go to fr.pathofexile2.com/register.
- Enter an email address — any address, it doesn't need to be the one linked to your Path of Exile account.
- Confirm the registration from the email you receive. Without this confirmation, the registration is not "properly" completed, and that's the condition GGG keeps repeating.
- Wait until December 11: the microtransaction codes are sent by email after the official launch.
- Use the code on the website to receive the item in-game.
A Path of Exile account is required to use the code — but only at that point. You can register today without an account and create one in December.
The three rules that trip people up
1. Unsubscribing before distribution cancels the reward
This is the most costly point in the entire FAQ, and it's buried in the last question:
"You can unsubscribe at any time. However, if you unsubscribe before we begin distributing the rewards, we will not be able to send you the code."
Between now and December 11, GGG announces "several emails" about ExileCon, its announcements and the 1.0 release. So you have to hold out for three and a half months without clicking "unsubscribe", which is exactly the reflex one has when faced with a mailing list. Unsubscribing becomes risk-free again once the code has been received.
2. One code per account, one account per code
The two restrictions stack:
- a code can only be used once — it cannot be redeemed on multiple accounts;
- and only one code per account — it's not possible to stack several registrations on the same account.
On the other hand, GGG explicitly allows gifting: "the code can be activated on any valid Path of Exile account". So an unused code can be given to a friend.
3. On console, account linking must be done
The operation covers Steam, Epic, PlayStation and Xbox. But GGG sets a condition: "please make sure your Path of Exile account is linked to the corresponding platform" at fr.pathofexile.com/my-account/connections.
C'est an operation to handle on the website, not on the console. Better to take care of it now rather than in December, in the middle of a launch rush.

What the FAQ doesn't say
Three grey areas remain, and it's better to know about them before building up expectations:
- The tier thresholds aren't published. GGG talks about "four tiers" and "five microtransactions in total," without ever saying how many sign-ups trigger each one. It's therefore impossible to know today whether the cap is within reach.
- The cosmetics aren't described. No image, no item type — no weapon effect, no portal frame, no animation. You're signing up for unknown content.
- The send date isn't fixed. The studio says "after the official launch on December 11" and promises an announcement on its social networks: it could be the same day or several weeks later.
None of this is a blocker — signing up is free and only requires an email address. But it does change how to present it: it's a zero-cost bet, not a quantified offer.
Why the operation exists now
The context gives meaning to the campaign. Path of Exile 2 leaves early access on December 11 and becomes entirely free-to-play: early access buyers keep their access without buying anything again, and everyone else joins for free.
A free-to-play launch is played out on the number of players present on the first day, and a mailing list built up three months in advance is the most direct tool for that. The community tier mechanism also pushes subscribers to recruit, since every new sign-up benefits everyone.
For the player, the practical consequence is simple: signing up early doesn't pay off more than signing up late. The tiers depend on the final total, not on your rank. The only real reason to do it today is so you don't forget.
What GGG does with your address
The studio also addresses data processing, and it's worth knowing before signing up: the address is shared with Brevo, its third-party data processor, "and will only be used to send you information related to Path of Exile." The full list of external companies is published on the website.
On volume, GGG promises "several emails" and no more: "no spam!"
If you haven't received anything in December
GGG asks for patience and gives a clear signal: "we will make an announcement once code distribution is complete." Until that announcement has been made, there's nothing to claim. After, and only after, the technical support page takes over.
To do today
- Sign up at fr.pathofexile2.com/register and confirm the email — an unconfirmed sign-up doesn't count.
- Use an address you'll still be checking in December.
- Don't unsubscribe before you have the code.
- If you play on PlayStation or Xbox, link your account at fr.pathofexile.com/my-account/connections right now.
