In brief

Monster Hunter Stories 3 offers a free fast travel system based on Caravan Points and camps, accessible after progressing through the story. Once unlocked, these points allow instant teleportation and the ability to change the time of day to track certain monsters.

In Monster Hunter Stories 3, the fast travel mechanic is an essential tool for quickly moving between specific destinations on each map. This mechanic is made available via Caravan Points, which are also save points and places where you can change the time of day. Although fast travel is free, it can only be used after progressing through the main story.

Fast travel: unlocking and using it

Once you first travel to the Rangers base at Azuria Castle, you'll come across your first Caravan Point. However, the Felyne in charge of it lets you know that it's under maintenance. To unlock the teleportation ability, you'll need to find other Caravan Points.

Note

An important thing to point out is that you won't be able to use this mechanic until fairly late in Act 1.

Fortunately, as in other Monster Hunter entries, you don't need to be at a Caravan Point to benefit from fast travel. Once you've unlocked several points, simply press N (keyboard) or D-Pad Left (controller) to bring up the fast travel map. Then select any unlocked Caravan Point on the map to teleport there instantly.

Note

This mode of transport also lets you change the time of day, which is useful for tracking down certain monsters that only appear at night.

It's absolutely essential to unlock a Caravan Point beforehand by interacting with it in the world. If you see a Caravan Point without activating it, you won't be able to fast travel to it.

Unlocking camps

In addition to Caravan Points, you can also fast travel to camps that you and your Rider team have set up. Some camps are created automatically when you reach key moments in the story of Monster Hunter Stories 3, while others will need to be built by you.

Camps can only be established in certain areas of the map. Before you can set up a camp, you'll need to defeat a Feral Monster in the surrounding area. These have different attacks from regular monsters, so you'll need to be very careful and draw on all the combat knowledge you've gained in MH Stories 3.

After defeating a Feral Monster, you'll be able to set up a camp in a nearby clearing. This is a place where you can rest, cook meals, manage your Monsties, and fast travel.

Tip

Feral Monsters are marked with a red cross on your map.
