In brief

In summer 2026, Lost Ark's PvE meta is dominated by Souleater, Slayer and Breaker as DPS, with Bard and Paladin as untouchable supports. This tier list covers Legion and Kazeros raids at 1620+ ilvl, focusing on the damage window, the counters brought to the table, and mobility against the demanding patterns of Behemoth and the summer raid.

Since its arrival in the West in February 2022, Lost Ark (Smilegate RPG / Amazon Games) keeps reinventing itself patch after patch. By summer 2026, the Korean MMO ARPG boasts more than twenty-five playable classes, spread across five main archetypes: Warrior, Martial Artist, Gunner, Mage and Assassin. Each class has two or three Class Engravings (class identities) that completely transform its gameplay, and the PvE meta shifts with every major update.

This tier list focuses exclusively on high-end PvE, meaning the Legion and Kazeros raids (Behemoth, Echidna, Aegir, Brelshaza Hard, Kayangel Inferno and the new summer raid). It takes into account support presence, rotation stability, survivability against one-shot mechanics, and the damage ceiling at 1620+ ilvl. As always, a passionate player will outperform a theoretically superior class.

How to read this tier list

The ranking is split into four levels. Tier S gathers classes that offer an unbeatable damage-to-utility ratio and are requested in nearly every optimized composition. Tier A covers highly performant classes, often practically equivalent to tier S depending on the player. Tier B brings together solid picks that require more investment or have suffered from recent patches. Tier C doesn't mean "unplayable": these classes remain viable up through Aegir Hard, but they lag behind on the dps meter or suffer from more fragile survivability.

Three criteria carry significant weight in the final ranking: the damage window (short burst versus sustained dps), the number of counters and staggers brought to the raid, and finally mobility, which is crucial on Behemoth's patterns and the 2026 summer raid.

Tier S: the untouchables of the 2026 meta

Three DPS classes and two supports clearly dominate the meta this summer. The May 2026 patch rebalanced several Korean classes, and some are finally climbing onto the Western podium.

  • Souleater — Melee DPS, high difficulty. Explosive gameplay with the Night's Edge spec, insane damage spikes during burst phases. Shines on Echidna Hard and Aegir Hard thanks to its short windows. Key engravings: Night's Edge level 3, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon. Gems: level 9 minimum on Cruel Slaughter, Shadowburst and Blood Massacre.
  • Slayer — Melee DPS, medium difficulty. The female version of the Berserker, the Predator spec keeps its role as a tanky boss killer. Excellent on Behemoth thanks to its mobility. Engravings: Predator, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon. Gems: Predator's Roar, Bloody Rush, Finish Strike.
  • Breaker — Melee DPS, very high difficulty. The Asura's Path spec remains the benchmark for world-record dps showcases. Demanding rotation with mandatory back-attacks. Ideal on Aegir Hard and Kayangel Inferno. Engravings: Asura's Path, Grudge, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon, Ambush Master. Gems: Asura Destruction Basic Attack, One Inch Punch, Death Rattle.
  • Bard — Ranged support, high difficulty. Still the reference support thanks to its damage bubbles and defensive serenade. Requested in 100% of Behemoth and summer raids. Engravings: Desperate Salvation, Awakening, Expert, Heavy Armor, Drops of Ether. Gems: Sound Shock, Sonic Vibration, Guardian Tune (level 7 is enough).
  • Paladin — Melee support, medium difficulty. The Blessed Aura spec brings the best damage buff in the game along with a fast-recharging identity. Often picked on Aegir and Kayangel Inferno for its shield. Engravings: Blessed Aura, Awakening, Expert, Heavy Armor, Drops of Ether. Gems: Godsent Law, Wrath of God, Heavenly Blessings.

Tier A: excellent, often on par with S

Tier A brings together seven classes that, in the hands of an experienced player, rival tier S. The difference comes down to consistency and margin for error.

  • Aeromancer — Ranged DPS, medium difficulty. The Wind Fury spec offers very reliable sustained dps, while the Drizzle spec gives a hybrid role. Excellent on Echidna Hard. Engravings: Wind Fury, Grudge, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon, Hit Master. Gems: Rising Typhoon, Wind's Whisper, Cloudburst.
  • Reaper — Melee DPS, high difficulty. The Lunar Voice spec excels at back-attacks. Very mobile, perfect on Behemoth. Engravings: Lunar Voice, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Ambush Master. Gems: Distortion, Void Strike, Nightmare.
  • Wardancer — Melee DPS, medium difficulty. The First Intention spec for clean dps, Esoteric Skill Enhancement for a huge burst. Engravings: First Intention, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Raid Captain. Gems: Sky Shattering Blow, Roar of Courage, Lightning Kick.
  • Machinist — Hybrid ranged/melee DPS, high difficulty. The Evolutionary Legacy spec, with a very rewarding Hypersync mode. Engravings: Evolutionary Legacy, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon. Gems: Air Raid, Homing Barrage, Photon Blaster.
  • Deathblade — Melee DPS, medium difficulty. The Remaining Energy spec for a short, brutal burst. Engravings: Remaining Energy, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon. Gems: Blitz Rush, Death Sentence, Polestar.
  • Glaivier — Melee DPS, medium difficulty. The Pinnacle spec for sustained dps, Control for stagger. Engravings: Pinnacle, Grudge, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon, Raid Captain. Gems: Red Dragon's Horn, Chain Slash, Soaring Grave Slash.
  • Artist — Ranged support, medium difficulty. Still not officially confirmed in Europe for this summer, but the KR version remains equivalent to the Bard. Worth watching closely if announced on playlostark.com/fr-fr by the fall.

Tier B: solid but lagging behind

These classes can carry any raid, but their ceiling is lower or their skill floor higher than tier A.

  • Sorceress — Ranged DPS, medium difficulty. The Igniter spec still packs a massive burst but suffers from 2026's mobile mechanics. Engravings: Igniter, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Precise Dagger.
  • Berserker — Melee DPS, low difficulty. The Berserker's Technique spec remains a comfortable choice. Slight decline since the May patch. Engravings: Berserker's Technique, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon.
  • Gunslinger — Ranged/melee DPS, high difficulty. The Peacemaker spec requires perfect management of the three weapons. Engravings: Peacemaker, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon.
  • Destroyer — Melee DPS, low difficulty. Best stagger in the game. The Rage Hammer spec is rewarding but average dps. Engravings: Rage Hammer, Grudge, Cursed Doll, Adrenaline, Keen Blunt Weapon.
  • Gunlancer — Melee tank DPS, medium difficulty. The Combat Readiness spec for survivability, Lone Knight for dps. Useful while learning.
  • Striker — Melee DPS, medium difficulty. The Deathblow spec still packs an impressive burst but has a strict rotation.
  • Summoner — Ranged DPS, medium difficulty. The Communication Overflow spec. Very safe gameplay, decent dps.

Tier C: viable but struggling

These classes remain playable up through Aegir Hard, but they struggle in Kayangel Inferno and on the 2026 summer raid. They're waiting for their balance patch.

  • Scrapper — Melee DPS, Taijutsu or Shock Training spec. Still very fun but has fallen behind on dps.
  • Soulfist — Melee/ranged DPS, Robust Spirit or Energy Overflow spec. Suffers from the very short RS window.
  • Shadowhunter — Melee DPS, Demonic Impulse spec. Still solid but outclassed by Souleater.
  • Artillerist — Ranged DPS, Firepower Enhancement spec. Good stagger but lagging dps.
  • Deadeye — Melee/ranged DPS, Enhanced Weapon spec. Three-weapon rotation hard to optimize.
  • Sharpshooter — Ranged DPS, Loyal Companion spec safer than Death Strike. Suffers from its dependence on a stationary boss.
  • Arcanist — Ranged DPS, Empress's Grace spec. Card RNG remains hard to stomach in pugs.

Spotlight on supports in 2026

The Bard / Paladin / Artist trio still dominates the support role. The current meta favors the Paladin on fights that require shielding and stability (Aegir Hard, Behemoth phase 3), while the Bard remains the best option on fights with open dps windows (Echidna Hard, Kayangel Inferno). If the Artist finally arrives in the West this fall, she will bring a unique damage buff via her cartridges and an ally protection chain that elegantly replaces the Bard's Guardian Tune.

A good support in 2026 should aim for 1620 ilvl minimum, a Preordained Diligence relic set with stat 6, and level 7 gems socketed on buff skills. The Awakening level 3 passive has become nearly mandatory to spam the awakening every 60 seconds during burst phases.

Engravings and gems: combos that work everywhere

Whichever DPS class you choose, several Ability Engravings consistently show up in optimized builds:

  • Grudge level 3: +20% damage against bosses, the best DPS engraving in the game.
  • Cursed Doll level 3: +16% damage, -25% healing received — best combined with a good support.
  • Adrenaline level 3: very strong crit boost when chaining skills.
  • Keen Blunt Weapon level 3: +50% crit dmg but -20% crit rate — mandatory on classes with high crit rate.
  • Hit Master or Ambush Master level 3: depending on whether the class targets front or back-attacks.

As for gems, the target remains seven level 9 gems minimum at 1620+ ilvl: four cooldown gems on main skills, three damage gems on burst skills. Level 10 gems remain reserved for players pushing full clears of Kayangel Inferno.

Our verdict for summer 2026

If you're starting a new class this summer, the Souleater / Slayer duo remains the most rewarding bet on the DPS side thanks to their accessible skill floor and enormous skill ceiling. On the support side, Paladin remains easier to play than Bard while still offering an ideal buff-to-survivability ratio on Aegir Hard.

For veterans, Breaker and Aeromancer continue to offer the best peak enjoyment in raids, provided you accept the learning curve. Finally, keep an eye on the Korean patch notes: Smilegate has announced a Souleater rework and a Sharpshooter buff for the fall, which should shake up the Western meta again before the end of the year.

In your opinion, which factor weighs most heavily in Lost Ark's summer 2026 PvE meta?

Frequently asked questions

Which class should I play if I'm starting out in Legion raids?
Slayer as melee DPS or Paladin as support. Both offer a good balance of mobility and survivability and don't require pixel-perfect precision. Berserker also works, but it's been struggling since the May 2026 patch.
Why does Souleater dominate the meta so much this summer?
Because the Night's Edge spec concentrates its damage into very short windows (massive burst) that fit perfectly with Echidna and Aegir Hard's phases. The May 2026 patch rebalanced her to Korean standards, and the West has finally caught up.
Can I still farm Kayangel Inferno with a tier C class?
Technically no, unless you're a very experienced player. Tier C (Scrapper, Soulfist) loses a huge amount of DPS in Kayangel Inferno. Move up to at least tier B or find a better class for this content.
Should I wait for Artist to play support, or is Bard enough?
Bard is more than enough — she's been dominant since launch. Artist (Korean version) is effectively equivalent but hasn't been officially confirmed for Europe this summer. Keep an eye on playlostark.com/fr-fr for the fall.
Which class is the hardest to play correctly?
Breaker (Asura's Path spec) demands an ultra-strict rotation and mandatory back-attacks to shine. Machinist and Gunslinger are close behind. If the skill floor scares you, stick to tier A or B.

Key takeaways

  • Souleater (Night's Edge spec) blows up burst phases on Echidna and Aegir Hard with insane damage spikes.
  • Bard remains the go-to support, demanded in 100% of Behemoth runs and summer raids thanks to her damage bubbles.
  • Tier A (Aeromancer, Reaper, Wardancer) often rivals tier S: it's the player behind the wheel who makes the difference, not the class.
  • Sorceress and Berserker slip into tier B, hurt by 2026's mobile mechanics and the May patches.
  • Tier C remains viable up to Aegir Hard, but Scrapper, Soulfist and Shadowhunter are waiting on their balance patch to breathe.
