In brief

Freeing Klaus in CoD Black Ops 7 Zombies requires locating his cell at the Ashwood Sheriff's Office, defeating Uber Klaus to retrieve the Stabilizer Chip, then reactivating him with Stun Grenades. Once free, this robot becomes a powerful tactical ally for surviving the undead hordes.

In CoD Black Ops 7 Zombies, Klaus, the very friendly robot from Cold War players finds himself imprisoned in Ash of the Damned. Freeing this robotic companion is a good tactical asset and will allow you to better survive against the hordes of the undead. So here's a guide to free Klaus and make the best use of him.

"Unfortunately, opening the door won't be enough to free your powerful ally"

Locating Klaus's cell

To begin your liberation quest, you first need to know where Klaus is being held. Our robotic ally is located in the Ashwood Sheriff's Office, which is inaccessible at the start of the game.

You must first activate Ol' Tessie and turn on the Power Pump at Vandorn Farm or Blackwater Lake. Once that's done, head to Ashwood and take the east zipline from the bottom of the district. Then, at the Marketplace, to the left after Vulture Aid, look inside the Sheriff's Office building for the prisoner Klaus, waiting to be freed. Unfortunately, opening the door won't be enough to free your powerful ally, you'll need to put in some elbow grease.

Defeating Uber Klaus

Indeed, you need to acquire an item essential to reactivating Klaus, in other words, retrieve the Stabilizer Chip during a fearsome battle. So prepare yourself accordingly!

Head to Janus Towers Square, then, from the west, go towards the main gates leading to Blackwater Lake; at that point you'll see a rather fearsome enemy, Uber Klaus, emerging from an ordinary crate. He is an Elite enemy who will deal a fair amount of damage both in melee and at range.

Use your Pack-a-Punch upgraded weapons and equip the Napalm Burst ammo mod, which exploits Uber Klaus's weakness. Take him down by targeting the pylons on his shoulders, and once he's defeated, he drops the Stabilizer Chip.

Reactivating Klaus

Now that you have the Stabilizer Chip, go back to Klaus, imprisoned in the Ashwood Sheriff's Office. Approach his cell and interact with the terminal on the left, which will trigger the chip update.

You'll receive a message saying "Update requires a restart." To finalize Klaus's update, throw at least three Stun Grenades at him. These grenades absolutely must land inside his cell, in front of his seat, without bouncing back out.

You can craft Stun Grenades at the Ashwood Crafting Table, at a cost of 250 Salvage. Grab four to be safe, and toss them at Klaus. You'll know it worked when stars twinkle above his head, indicating he's stunned. Klaus will then get up and flee his cell to come join you on the field.

If Klaus doesn't wake up despite your action, move on to the next round and try again...

Making the Most of Protector Klaus

Now free, Klaus turns into an excellent ally in the fight against the zombies. He will accompany you across the map and respond to your commands. Using the Up button on your D-pad, point to the location where you want Klaus to go, or press L1 and order him to go elsewhere and deliver a powerful kick.

Klaus is armed with a tier 2 sniper rifle with Pack-a-Punch, and zombies will ignore him from a distance. Note, however, that his health regenerates: he will appear in the air at a spawn point. After a brief rest, you can call him back by pressing his L1 button, but you'll have to sacrifice your tactical equipment to keep Klaus active.

Klaus will never finish off the last zombie of the wave, which gives you plenty of time to explore the map or prepare your gear between rounds.
