About

Founded in 1994, Acquire is a Japanese development studio emblematic of stealth action games and feudal Japanese-inspired settings. It was acquired by Kadokawa Corporation in 2024, currently has 148 employees, and has flooded the video game world with its cult franchises. Among their best-known games, we can mention "Tenchu: Stealth Assassins" (1998), the infiltration game that made the studio known, "Way of the Samurai", a samurai life simulator that truly lived up to its "sandbox" label, and more recently "Octopath Traveler" (2018), a pixel-art RPG carefully developed with Square Enix. In 2024, Acquire took up the torch of the "Mario & Luigi" series with "Brothership".
