A Hot Bat Summer crossover confirmed for today

Rumors had been building since early July, with a first leak shared on July 1st by well-known Fortnite dataminers. Epic Games eventually lifted the veil by publishing the official key art on its social media a few days before launch. As a result, the v41.20 update rolled out on July 16, 2026 after a two-to-three-hour maintenance window. Servers came back online around 1 PM (French time), and the item shop was refreshed with the DC lineup a bit later, around 2 AM (French time) during the night of July 16-17, which is 8 PM ET in the US.

The four DC Summer skins and their prices

Four outfits make up the collection, all sold individually at 1,500 V-Bucks each. Note: in the French client, Epic keeps most of the skins' English names, as is already the case for the majority of DC collaborations.

• Summer Batman — Bruce Wayne shirtless, lighter cape, cowl kept.
• Summer Catwoman — Selina Kyle in a black beach suit.
• High Tide Harley — the « seaside » version of Harley Quinn, in red and blue tones.
• Sunflower Ivy — Poison Ivy redesigned in a sunflower style, the look that generated the most buzz during the leak phase.

Each outfit comes with its matching back bling, available separately for 600 V-Bucks, and its pickaxe for 800 V-Bucks. Two exclusive emotes (400 V-Bucks each) and a pair of Gotham-colored Kicks (1,200 V-Bucks) round out the cosmetic lineup.

Two other pieces stand out from the rest:

• Ace the Bat-Hound — Bruce Wayne's Bat-Hound becomes a Sidekick, the companion that trots alongside the player during matches. Priced at 1,200 V-Bucks.
• Beach Buggy Batmobile — a vehicle skin inspired by the dune buggy for the Batmobile, for 2,500 V-Bucks.

Gotham City Summer and High Tide bundles: which one should you pick?

Two bundles are coexisting in the shop. This is where the real V-Bucks economy plays out if you're aiming for multiple skins.

• Gotham City Summer Bundle — 5,000 V-Bucks. It packs in all four outfits, the four back blings, the four pickaxes, the two emotes, the Kicks, and the Ace the Bat-Hound Sidekick. Bought individually, the full set would cost over 12,000 V-Bucks: by far the most cost-effective option for collectors.
• High Tide Harley & Sunflower Ivy Bundle — 3,000 V-Bucks. Aimed at players who only want the female duo, along with their matching cosmetics. The value is decent without being spectacular, provided you're skipping Batman and Catwoman.

For a player who wants "just one or two skins," buying items individually (1,500 V-Bucks) remains the better deal. Beyond three outfits, the Gotham City Summer Bundle becomes unbeatable.

The Beach Buggy Batmobile is not included in the full bundle and must be purchased separately — a choice that's rubbing some fans the wrong way on the forums, but one that stays in line with Epic's usual approach to vehicle skins.

Batman Sprite and Bat-Grappler: the gameplay additions

Beyond the cosmetics, v41.20 brings two genuine additions that will affect ranked matches.

The Batman Sprite is a Mythic item to pick up on the map, similar to the Chapter 7 sprites already in the game (Grim Reaper Sprite, Air Sprite, etc.). Epic hasn't detailed all of its abilities, but leaks suggest a mix of short-range enemy detection and mobility. Four cosmetic variants are circulating: Holofoil, Gold, Gummy, and Galaxy, to collect in the TCG style already established for the season's other sprites.

Another big comeback: the Bat-Grappler, a Mythic weapon originally introduced in Chapter 1 Season X. It works like a standard grapple gun but allows for glider redeployment mid-swing, making it a formidable rotation tool. It's being unvaulted for the duration of the event and can be found in DC chests scattered across the map.

Finally, a new "Bat Cave" landmark has been added to the map, featuring DC bosses to fight for exclusive loot — a mechanic very similar to what Epic rolled out for the Marvel events in past seasons.

Objectives and free rewards of the Hot Bat Summer

Unlike fully paid collaborations, the Hot Bat Summer offers a free quest line that unlocks XP for the Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Pass and several free cosmetics. Expected on the menu:

• Collect Batman Sprites on the map.
• Eliminate DC bosses at Bat Caves or near points of interest connected to Gotham.
• Use the Bat-Grappler over a given cumulative distance.
• Place in the top 10 or top 5 while playing as a DC skin.
• Visit the new summer landmarks added to the map.

The free rewards confirmed so far revolve around an exclusive loading screen themed around the crossover, a Hot Bat Summer spray, a banner, and several XP milestones. A free skin is circulating in the rumor mill, but Epic hasn't officially confirmed anything for now — historically, DC crossovers don't unlock a free outfit, unlike the Odyssey events for example, which offers Odysseus through the Odyssey Cup on July 17.

Also worth noting: a Shiny Hours Sprite Event is scheduled for July 18 at 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. (French time), with a boosted spawn rate for special Sprites — ideal for trying to get the Batman Sprite Holofoil, Gold, Gummy, or Galaxy without spending the whole week on it.

How to get the skins step by step

The process is identical on PC, consoles, and mobile (via the cloud):

1. Update Fortnite to v41.20 via the Epic Games launcher, the Epic Games Store, the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, or the Nintendo eShop.
2. Top up your account with V-Bucks if needed — current prices in France are €7.99 for 1,000 V-Bucks, €19.99 for 2,800, and €31.99 for 5,000 (the price of the Gotham City Summer Bundle).
