Fortnite John Wick Sprite: how to get it and its effects

The John Wick Sprite arrives with the final update of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, and it stands in a category of its own: it is currently the only Sprite usable in both Battle Royale and Reload. But to get there, you first have to find it - and of course extract it - exclusively from Reload mode. That will take a bit of luck, and a bit of strategy.

Where to find the John Wick Sprite

The John Wick Sprite does not spawn naturally in Battle Royale. You have to go get it in Fortnite Reload, where three sources let you get your hands on it:

• Standard chests, rare chests or Sprite chests
• A Victory Royale in a Reload match
• Loot from an eliminated player who was carrying it, or a trade with a player in Reload or Battle Royale

Sprite chests can appear anywhere on the map. One spot that has proven reliable: the roof of The Confidential on The Simpsons map. It doesn't guarantee anything, the spawn remains random, but it's a solid starting point if you're stuck on where to look.

How to extract the John Wick Sprite

Having the Sprite in your inventory is nice. Extracting it to keep it in your collection is better. Reload has no fixed extraction points - that's where things get a bit tricky.

Two ways to extract it:

• Win the match with the Sprite equipped: automatic extraction, it gets added directly to your collection. This is the cleanest method if you're feeling confident.
• Use the Reload Portable Extractor: the gadget dedicated to the mode, the only manual option available here.

To get the Reload Portable Extractor, two options:

• Chests or ground loot (random)
• Vending machines for 50 gold bars

Tip

If you have gold available, the vending machine is clearly the more reliable route. No point relying on luck twice in a row.

What the John Wick Sprite does

Functionally, it's close to the Grim Sprite. After knocking down or eliminating an opponent, it reveals the position of nearby enemies for a few seconds - for you and for your entire squad. That's pure information. And in Reload, where fights chain quickly and revives are frequent, knowing where the others are after a knock is often the difference between a clean team wipe and a disastrous rotation.

This is a Sprite clearly geared toward aggressive play. If you like taking fights rather than avoiding them, it fits perfectly into that style. Competitive players on r/FortniteCompetitive aren't wrong about it: Sprites that give information on enemy positions are consistently rated as the most strategically valuable.

A unique Sprite in the current meta

Once extracted, the John Wick Sprite is playable in both Battle Royale and Reload. Every other Sprite remains confined to Battle Royale. This flexibility gives it extra value if you switch between the two modes - you don't have to give up your Sprite depending on which queue you jump into.

The effort to get it is real: dependency on Reload mode, extraction to manage manually with no fixed point. But for a Sprite that combines enemy info and cross-mode compatibility, the grind is worth it.
